Classification of Fishing Gear (어구의 분류)

  • In order to obtain the most favourable classification system for fishing gears, the problems in the existing systems were investigated and a new system in which the fishing method was adopted as the criterion of classification and the kinds of fishing gears were obtained by exchanging the word method into gear in the fishing methods classified newly for eliminating the problems was established.   • Magnetic gears of non-contact power type have great advantages in terms of maintenance and repair than mechanical gears, and are used in various ways. Harmonic gears can derive a higher gear ratio than conventional gears through power transmission through a unique rotation mechanism. Magnetic harmonic gears, in which the gear teeth of the harmonic gears are replaced with magnets, have the advantages of both gears, but are difficult to implement and practical, so many studies are being conducted. In this study, we check whether the results of various types of magnetic gears can be applied to harmonic gears. By applying the axial type magnetic gear to the harmonic gear, the characteristic analysis is conducted to see if the result comparable to the existing radial type magnetic harmonic gear is obtained.

A Study on Distortion Induced by Elasticity and Heat Treatment of Automotive Bevel Gears (자동차용 베벨 기어의 탄성변형과 열처리변형에 관한 연구)

  • Recently many kinds of gears have been produced by forging in order to enhance the mechanical properties of the gears and the productivity of the process. Developments in forging technology are the reason for the increased usage. However, a critical problem of the forged gears is the dimensional change or distortion caused by elastic recovery after forging, and relief of the residual stresses during subsequent heat treatments. Distortion is of great concern to the manufacturers of precision parts, because it influences directly the dimensional accuracy and the grade of carburized bevel gears. In the present paper, distortion due to elastic and heat treatment of bevel gears Is investigated. Distortions of forged gears, machined gears and die aremeasured and compared. Numerical analysis is used to simulate the complete cold forged process and heat treatment process for the machined gears and shows good agreement with the experimental measurements.

  • Of all the many types of machine elements which exist today, gears are among the most commonly used. Many researches have been done to manufacture helical gears by cold forging and extrusion. Although cold forging and extrusion were applied to some bevel, spur, and helical gears, problems in connection with reducing forming load and tool life still make it difficult for the related methods to be commercialized. In this study, focusing on reducing load in forming helical gears, extrusion of helical gears by a two-step process is proposed. The process is composed of an extrusion step of spur gears used as preform and a torsion step of the preform to make helical gears. Upper-bound analysis for the two-step process is performed and compared with results of experiments. The newly proposed method can be used as an advanced forming technique to remarkably reduce the forming load and replace the conventional forming process of helical gears.

  • The power train of hydro-mechanical continuously variable transmission(HMCVT) for the middle class forklift makes use of an hydro-static unit, hydraulic multi-wet disc brake & clutches and complex helical & planetary gears. The complex helical & planetary gears are a very important part of the transmission because of strength problems. The helical & planetary gears belong to the very important part of the HMCVT's power train where strength problems are the main concerns including the gear bending stress, the gear compressive stress and scoring failures. The present study, calculates specifications of the complex helical & planetary gear train and analyzes the gear bending and compressive stresses of the gears. It is necessary to analyze gear bending and compressive stresses confidently for an optimal design of the complex helical & planetary gears in respect of cost and reliability. This paper not only analyzes actual gear bending and compressive stresses of complex helical & planetary gears using Lewes & Hertz equation, but also verifies the calculated specifications of the complex helical & planetary gears by evaluating the results with the data of allowable bending and compressive stress from the Stress - No. of cycles curves of gears. In addition, this paper explains actual gear scoring and evaluates the possibility of scoring failure of complex helical & planetary gear train of hydro-mechanical continuously variable transmission for the forklift.

A Study on the Effect of Heat-treatment on the Fatigue Strength of SNC815 Spur Gears (SNC815 기어의 피로강도에 미치는 열처리 효과에 관한 연구)

  • This study deals with effects of heat-treatment on the fatigue strength of SNC815 spur gears. The test gears are heat-treated by two different treatments. After carburization, one group of the test gears is quenched directly, while the other group is fumace cooled, reheated then quenched. The fatigue test at a constant stress amplitude is performed by using an electrohydraulic servo-controlled pulsating tester. The S-N curves are obtained and illustrated. By comparing the estimated strength with the experimental results, the validity of the previous experimental formula, presented by the author for estimating the fatigue strength of carburized gears, was discussed on these tested gears.

Upper Bound Analysis for Forging of Spur Gears (스퍼어기어의 단조에 관한 상계해석)

  • Forging of spur gears has been investigated by means of upper-bound method. The term forging means forging of spur gears with solid cylindrical billets, hollow billets with flat punch. Kinematically admissbile velocity field for forging of spur gears has been proposed in this study. The 1/2 pitch of spur gear has been divided into seven dieformation regions, wherein, an involute curve has been introduced to represent the shape of die profile. Especially neutral surface has been introduced intor forging of hollow gears from hollow billets. By using the kinematically admissible velocity field, the powder requirements and suitable conditions for forging fo spur gears were successfully calculated with numerical method. According to the analysis , the acceptable number of teeth for forging of spur gears is from 15 to 20.

3D Printing Characteristics of Reverse Idle Gears for Tractor Transmissions (트랙터 트랜스미션용 후진 아이들 기어의 3D 프린팅 특성)

  • This paper concerns the possibility of 3D printing reverse idle gears for tractor transmission. For the purposes of this experiment, idle gears were manufactured using a SLA 3D printer, FDM 3D printer, and through machining. The accuracy of the idle gears produced in these three different ways were evaluated by the properties of their outer diameter, inner diameter, roundness, concentricity, parallelism, span, backlash, and gear grade. The tooth characteristics of the idle gears were evaluated by their profile, lead, and the pitch of the gears. The results of this experiment determined that the surface conditions created by the finishing process had a significant impact on the dimensional accuracy of the gears and the characteristics of their teeth.
