E2GSM: Energy Effective Gear-Shifting Mechanism in Cloud Storage System

  • Recently, Massive energy consumption in Cloud Storage System has attracted great attention both in industry and research community. However, most of the solutions utilize single method to reduce the energy consumption only in one aspect. This paper proposed an energy effective gear-shifting mechanism (E2GSM) in Cloud Storage System to save energy consumption from multi-aspects. E2GSM is established on data classification mechanism and data replication management strategy. Data is classified according to its properties and then be placed into the corresponding zones through the data classification mechanism. Data replication management strategies determine the minimum replica number through a mathematical model and make decision on replica placement. Based on the above data classification mechanism and replica management strategies, the energy effective gear-shifting mechanism (E2GSM) can automatically gear-shifting among the nodes. Mathematical analytical model certificates our proposed E2GSM is energy effective. Simulation experiments based on Gridsim show that the proposed gear-shifting mechanism is cost effective. Compared to the other energy-saved mechanism, our E2GSM can save energy consumption substantially at the slight expense of performance loss while meeting the QoS of user.

변속 지시기를 이용한 시내버스 연비 개선 (Improvement of Fuel Economy of a City Bus using Shift Indicator)

  • The gear shifting timing of a manual transmission vehicle is influencing fuel economy. This paper focuses on an gear shifting indicator of an city bus with manual transmission, which can improve fuel economy. The shift indicator is supposed to collect the vehicle data during driving, calculate and compare fuel economy with and without gear shifting, and indicate the proper gear shifting timing. The H/W and S/W of the shift indicator are developed and tested on city bus in this research. The experiments are carried out on real road by 3 different drivers and the results show the improvement of fuel economy from 6.0% to 21.4%. The average engine torque and speed are reduced due to early gear shifting and the usage of highest gear is increased. The results of chassis test are also performed and show 7.5% improvement of fuel economy.

  • Currently, most automobiles have automatic transmission systems. The gear-shifting strategy used to generate shift patterns in transmission systems plays an important role in improving the performance of vehicles. However, conventional transmission systems have a fixed type of shift map, so it may not be enough to provide an efficient gear-shifting pattern to satisfy the demands of driver. In this study, we developed an intelligent strategy to handle these problems. This approach is based on a normalized radial basis function neural network, which can generate a flexible gear-shift pattern to satisfy the demands of drivers, including comfortable travel and fuel consumption. The method was verified through simulations.

  • 본 연구에서는 차량의 가속성능, 일정시간후 도달거리, 추월 가속성능 등의 동력성능 향상과 차량 요구성능을 고려한 최적 감속비의 결정을 고찰하였다. 변속비 결정의 선행 연구로서 정해진 차량 제원, 엔진 성능과 정해진 변속기에 대하여 차량의 동력성능을 예측, 평가하는 연구의 수행이 요구된다. 이를 위하여 본 논문에서는 기 존의 차량에 대하여 동력 성능을 평가하는 시뮬레이션 프로그램을 개발하여 실차의 제 작과 시험에 앞서 그 동력 성능을 예측, 평가하고 또한 이를 바탕으로 최적 설계기법 에 의하여 엔진 특성을 고려한 변속기의 최적 감속비 및 변속패턴을 결정하는데 촛점 을 두었다.

  • This paper proposes the compensation algorithm of conventional shift pattern using fuzzy reasoning in automatic transmission vehicles. Recently, automatic transimssion vehicles are continually increasing because of theire ease to drive. Also users require the high performance which includes the smooth shift quality and shift scheduling that matches driver;s intentions. So the shift scheduling has been inproved significantly through the application of electronic control. But, in spite of this development, vehicles using conventional shift pattern are sometimes in discord with driver's intention on roads. In this paper, the paper, the proposed compensation algorithm makes a automatic transmission vehicle be able to select an optimal gear shifting time and position using fuzzy reasoning and make a vehicle driver feel confortable even when the vehicle runs on roads which is extremely changed. Therefore, a vehicle driver can expect to reduce the nimber of unnecessary gear shifting and expect the fuel efficiency high. To show usefulness of the proposed method, some simulation are made to compared with conventional gear shifting. Paper prosposes the compensation mehtod of conventional shift pattern using fuzzy reasoning for the purpose that a vehicle can select an optimal gerar shifting time and position in automatic vehicle. Though the conventional shift pattern has no pliability, vehicle driver can feel comfortable and can reduce the number of unnecessary gear shifting using the proposed method on variable road condition. Therefore, it can be expected the fuel efficiency.

  • Nowadays, out of other transmission parts, the sleeve is getting more and more important part for exact and smooth shifting from gear ratio change whenever drivers are needed. To exact and smooth shifting when drivers are needed, all the parts connected with gear shifting should be machined exactly and having dimensions designers are intended. Especially, in case of the sleeve that the most important functional part to shift from gear ratio change that drivers are intended, it needs high precision grade and quality in both sides runout and outer dia runout as well as inner spline small dia & large dia. Because it's assembled with the synchro hub spline and shifted directly with the mating cone. So, it should be applied the hear treatment(hereinafter referred to H.T.M.T) to prevent the friction and percussion loss from shifting with mating cone. At this time, the deformation problems are raised from almost H.T.M.T. process and it makes the inferior part.

  • 자동화 수동변속기는 수동변속기에 액츄에이터를 설치하여 자동으로 수동변속기를 변속할 수 있게 한 변속기로써, 자동화 수동변속기의 조작 편의성과 수동변속기 수준의 높은 연비로 인해 대형 상용차에 많이 적용되고 있다. 대형 상용차에 적용되는 12단 자동화 수동변속기는 다른 자동 변속기와 마찬가지로 자동변속로직과 변속맵에 의해 변속시점을 결정하지만 기존의 방식으로는 변속충격, 클러치 마모, 연비저하 등의 문제점이 발생할 수 있다. 본 논문은 12단 자동화 수동변속기에 알맞은 변속로직 및 변속맵의 설계와 성능확인시험에 대한 내용을 다루고 있다.

MR 햅틱 큐를 이용한 차량 기어변속 보조장치의 성능평가 (Performance Evaluation of Vehicle Gear-shifting Supportive Device Utilizing MR Haptic Cue)

  • This paper proposes a driver supportive device with haptic cue function which can be applicable for vehicles adopting manual transmission system to transmit gear-shifting information to a driver by kinesthetic forces. This haptic cue function is implemented on accelerator pedal by utilizing magnetorheological(MR) fluid and clutch mechanism. In order to achieve this goal, an MR clutch mechanism is devised to be capable of rotary motion of accelerator pedal. The proposed MR clutch is then optimally designed and manufactured under consideration of spatial limitation of vehicles. After transmission torque is experimentally evaluated according to field intensity. The manufactured MR clutch is integrated with accelerator pedal and electric motor to establish the haptic cue device. Control performances are experimentally evaluated via a simple feed-forward control algorithm.

The proposed haptic cue device is then manufactured and integrated with accelerator pedal. Its field-dependant torque is experimentally evaluated. Vehicle system emulating gear shifting and engine speed is constructed in virtual environment and communicated with the haptic cue device. Haptic cue algorithm using the feed-forward control algorithm is formulated to achieve optimal gear shifting in driving. Control performances are experimentally evaluated via feed-forward control strategy and presented in time domain.
