  • As the demand of digital image processing devices has been rapidly increased recently, the excellent image quality is required. However, degradation can be occurred with multiple causes during transmission and processing process. Therefore, the needs to eliminate the noise are increased and the noise elimination technology became the major study area. Therefore, image restoration algorithm was suggested to apply the filter differently by edge and non-edge areas, using modified edge detection with preprocessing process so as to relieve the effect of additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN) which is added in the image, in this article. In addition, it was compared with the existing methods using peak signal to noise ratio(PSNR) as the objective determination standard of the improvement effect.

  • Identification of RTF (Relative Transfer Function) between sensors is essential to multichannel speech enhancement system. In this paper, we present an approach for estimating the relative transfer function of speech signal. This method adapts a CASA (Computational Auditory Scene Analysis) technique to the conventional OM-LSA (Optimally-Modified Log-Spectral Amplitude) based approach. Evaluation of the proposed approach is performed under simulated stationary and nonstationary WGN (White Gaussian Noise). Experimental results confirm advantages of the proposed approach.

  • We present a novel pilot-aided channel estimation method for OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Muitiplexing) system using WT(Wavelet transform) and interpolation. Due to excellent AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise) cancellation capability of n, pilot channels are estimated quite exactly and then, Dey are used in 2-degree polynomial interpolating the other remaining data symbol channels. The simulation results for Short WATM (Wireless Asynchronous Transfer Mode) channel show that the degradation in BER (Bit Error Ratio) performance of OFDM system iか this estimator is negligible compared to the case of perfect knowledge of CSI (Channel State Information).

  • In this paper, the W(ultra widebend) system is used for high speed transmission applying BPSK(Binary Phase Shift Keying) and QPSK (Quadrature Phase Shift Keying), and utilizing the convolution coding with code rate, 1/2 and constraint length, K=7 in order to reduce the bit error rate. And the performance of system is analyzed in the AWGN(Additive White Gaussian Noise) channel environment by using the Viterbi decoding algorithm and adopting the time-hopping sequence as a multiple access method in order to avoid the multiuser interference.

  • Broadcast nature of wireless medium and path-loss reduction create a favourable condition for collaborative communications (CC) among single-antenna users to gain the powerful benefits of multi-antenna system without the demand for physical arrays. This paper proposes a CC strategy adapting to the propagation environment changes by optimizing the transmit signal amplification factors to simplify the structure of maximum likelihood (ML) detector and to obtain the minimum error probability as well. The closed-form BER expression was also derived and compared to the simulation results to evaluate the performance of the suggested solution. A variety of numerical results revealed the cooperation significantly outperforms non-cooperative counterpart under flat Rayleigh fading channel plus AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise).

  • The non linear control algorithm with actuator saturation for a randomly excited oscillator has been widely explored and has shown promising results, but the probabilistic analysis of the algorithm has been rarely made due to its non-linear nature and the fact that the analytical solution of probability density function (PDF) for controlled responses does not exist. In this paper, a method for the probabilistic analysis on the non linear control algorithm with actuator saturation is proposed based on the equivalent non linear system method. Numerical examples are given to verify the approximation solution of PDF comparing to a statistically obtained PDF using a Gaussian white noise and a Kanai - Tagimi filtered Gaussian white noise.

  • This paper presents an analytic derivation of the erroneous effect when the sliding-DFT is implemented in a recursive way with the finite-bit approximation of the twiddle factors. The analysis result is obtained in a closed form equation of the noise-to-signal power ratio(NSR) employing the zero-mean white Gaussian signal as the target input of the DFT. The parameters of the wordlength used in representing the twiddle factors and the blocklength of the DFT appear in the NSR explicitly as its function variables. The derivation is based on the error dynamic equation which is derived from the recursive SDFT, and on the analytic exploration of the statistical characteristics of the approximation coefficients treating them as random variables of having spatial distributions. The analytically derived results are verified through the comparison with the data actually measured from the computer simulation experiment.

  • As digital image processing technologies are developing, edges are being utilized in various areas. In the existing edge detection methods, there are mask methods which utilize Sobel, Prewitt, Roberts, Laplacian operator etc. To realize these existing edge detection methods is simple. But, in case that AWGN(additive white Gaussian noise) added images are processed, edge detection characteristics are slightly insufficient. Therefore, the edge detection algorithm using the standard deviation of local mask was suggested in this paper to compensate for the drawbacks in the existing detection methods and the suggested algorithm in AWGN environments showed excellent edge detection characteristics.

  • Since the MB-OFDM(Multi-Band Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) is an ultra wideband communication system operated on ISM(Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band, DAA(Detect-And-Avoid) is required for co-existence with the other communication service. In this paper we propose the new detection algorithm based on decision-feedback, which shows faster convergence time and less complexity than previous works. The proposed algorithm detects interference above -20dB in AWGN(Additive White Gaussian Noise) and LOS(Line-Of-Sight) channel, and close to AWGN in non-LOS channel under appropriate channel clipping.

  • Recently, the expectation of quality about images over the increasing demand of digital devices is increasing with the development of the technology of the digital. But the images are degraded by a variety of causes, and the main reason is the noises. Therefore, the necessity of denoising comes to the fore, and the research for denoising is progressing dynamically. The images are mainly degraded by AWGN(additive white Gaussian noise), and the characteristics of denoising of existing methods such as mean filter are insufficient. In this paper, an algorithm combined by the spatial weighted filter and the modified adaptive weighted filter is proposed in order to effectively remove the AWGN. In the simulation result, the proposed algorithm showed excellent denoising capabilities.
