  • The Schlo'gl model with the first order transition for a photochemical reaction is considered to study the dynamic behaviors in the neighborhood of the Gaussian white noise by obtaining the explicit results of the time-dependent variance and time correlation function with the aid of approximate methods based on the stationary properties of the system. Then, we discuss the effect of external noise strength on the stability of the model at steady states in detail.

  • The method for the Schlo"gl model with the first order transition is extended to the Scho;gl model with the second order transition for a photochemical reaction. We obtain the explicit results of the time-dependent average and the time correlation function at the unstable steady state of the model in the neighborhood of the Gaussian white noise and then discuss the effect of noise on the dynamic properties.

  • An effective filtering algorithm which can reduce noise and preserve edges for the restoration of an image degraded by additive white Gaussian noise is presented. The algorithm proposed in this paper is an extension of Lee's algorithm modified to use local gradient information as well as local statistics. It does not require image modeling, and removes noise along the orientaiton of edges so that it does not blur the edge.

  • The correlation search method yields velocity information by tracking scatter patterns between medical image frames. The displacement vector between a target region and the best correlated search region indicates the magnitude and direction of the inter-frame motion of that particular region. However, if the noise sources in the target region and the search region are correlated Gaussian, then the cross-correlation technique fails to work well because it estimates the cross-correlation of both signals and noises. In this paper we develop a new correlation search method which seeks the best correlated third-order statistics between a target and the search region to suppress the effect of correlated Gaussian noise sources. Our new method yields better estimations of velocity than the conventional cross-correlation method.

  • LLAH(Locally Likely Arrangement Hashing) is a method which describes image features by exploiting the geometric relationship between their neighbors. Inherently, it is more robust to large view change and poor scene texture than conventional texture-based feature description methods. However, LLAH strongly requires that image features should be detected with high repeatability. The problem is that such requirement is difficult to satisfy in real applications. To alleviate the problem, this paper proposes a method that improves the matching rate of LLAH by exploiting together the brightness of features. Then, it is verified that the matching rate is increased by about 5% in experiments with synthetic images in the presence of Gaussian noise.

  • A novel method for extracting frequency slippage signal from radar full pulse sequence is presented. For the radar full pulse sequence received by radar interception receiver, radio frequency (RF) and time of arrival (TOA) of all pulses constitute a two-dimensional information sequence. In a complex and intensive electromagnetic environment, the TOA of pulses is distributed unevenly, randomly, and in a nonstationary manner, preventing existing methods from directly analyzing such time series and effectively extracting certain signal features. This work applies Gaussian noise insertion and structure function to the TOA-RF information sequence respectively such that the equalization of time intervals and correlation processing are accomplished. The components with different frequencies in structure function series are separated using empirical mode decomposition. Additionally, a chaos detection model based on the Duffing equation is introduced to determine the useful component and extract the changing features of RF. Experimental results indicate that the proposed methodology can successfully extract the slippage signal effectively in the case that multiple radar pulse sequences overlap.

  • An investigation into the stochastic bifurcation and response statistits of an autoparameteric system under broad-band random excitation is made. The specific system examined is a spring-pendulum system with internal resonance, which is known to be a good model for a variety of engineering systems, including ship motions with nonlinear coupling between pitching and rolling motions. The Fokker-Planck equations is used to generate a general first-order differential equation in the dynamic moment of response coordinates. By means of the Gaussian and non-Gaussian closure methods the dynamic moment equations for the random responses of the system are reduced to a system of autonomous ordinary differential equations. In view of equilibrium solutions of this system and their stability we examine the stochastic bifurcation and response statistics. The analytical results are compared with results obtained by Monte Carlo simulation.

  • In time division duplex (TDD) code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, chip-synchronous transmission in the uplink is obtainable, thus leading to free multiple access interference in flat Rayleigh fading channels plus additive white Gaussian noise. This motivates us to develop a novel cooperative transmission strategy that allows single-antenna devices to benefit from spatial diversity using orthogonal signature sequences. The proposed cooperation is applicable to many digital modulation methods and achieves the fullest diversity level, low implementation complexity, and a full data rate. Closed-form bit-error-rate expressions were also derived and compared to simulation results in order to evaluate its validity. A variety of numerical results demonstrated the cooperation's superiority over single transmission under the same transmit power constraint.

  • For parallel and serially concatenated trellis coded modulation (TCM), improved iterative decoding schemes with a simple mechanism are proposed and their performances are compared with those of conventional decoding schemes. Simulation results have shown that the proposed schemes have provided a considerable decoding gain in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels and Rayleigh fading channels, even if they can be implemented by a simple modification of conventional decoding algorithms.

  • Previously. TCM decoder has been using the Viterbi algorithm that was complex. In order to reduce the complexity of decoder. we proposed the “modified decoding algorithm using the path back method” and the modified decoding algorithm which extends the previous decoding algorithm to be able to applied to TCM decoder in this paper. On the gaussian and impulsive noise channel. Monte-Carlo simulation is used for analyzing the TCM performance and proving the efficiency of proposed decoding algorithm.
