  • Gauss and Laplace methods for initial orbit determination (IOD) are classical orbit determination tools and have been used very efficiently in optical satellite surveillance system. Several studies related to these two methods have been released until now. In this study, we found that the trends of IOD accuracy for different time interval between three pairs of measurement datas show unexpected results. Therefore, we checked the possible cause of these differences. In order to check various orbit types, we used most of satellite data which is able to obtain. To check the characteristics of methodology-only, we used simulated observation data. And we used real observation data for specific satellites to check the characteristics appeared when we applyed these methods to optical satellite surveillance system. As a result, we found that trends of IOD accuracy for time interval could be different because of satellite position observed.

  • The present paper develops finite element procedures to calculate displacements, strains and stresses in initially stressed elastic solids subjected to static or time-dependent loading conditions. As a point of departure, we employ Hamilton's principle to obtain nonlinear equations of motion characterizing the displacement in a solid. The equations of motion reduce to linear equations of motion if incremental stresses are assumed to be infinitesimal. In the case of linear problem, finite element solutions are obtained by Newmark's direct integration method and by modal analysis. An analytic solution is referred to compare with the linear finite element solution. In the case of nonlinear problem, finite element solutions are obtained by Newton-Raphson iteration method and compared with the linear solution. Finally, the effect of the order of Gauss-Legendre numerical integration on the nonlinear finite element solution, has been investigated.

  • Coated conductors suitable for the fabrication of persistent mode high $T_c$ magnets are suggested and the fabrication method of persistent mode magnets using coated conductor are demonstrated. Persistent current was observed in a small piece of coated conductor. Closed loop of coated conductor with a diameter of around 1 em was successfully prepared and was cooled with a magnetic field of about 500 Gauss in order to induce supercurrent. Coated conductor with a $I_c$ of 100 A/cm-width was used for the preparation of closed loop of coated conductor. Persistent current was confirmed by measuring the magnetic field generated from closed loop of coated conductor by using Gauss meter. Magnetic field of 4.4 Gauss was detected from the supercurrent of closed loop of coated conductor. It shows that superconducting joint of coated conductor is not a prerequisite for the construction of persistent mode magnets. It is thought that this work opens the possibility to use coated conductor for the construction of persistent mode high $T_c$ magnets for MRI, NMR and magnetic separation applications.

  • In this paper, we present new methods for solving the inverse kinematics associated with 6 degree of freedoms manipulator by the numerical method. This method will be based on tracking stability of special nonlinear dynamical systems, and differs from the typical techniques based by the Newton-Gauss or Newton-Raphson method for solving nonlinear equations. This simulation results show that the new method is solving the inverse kinematics of PUMA 560 without the derivative of a given task space trajectories.

  • We address the problem of parameter estimation in multivariate distributions under ignorable non-monotone missing data. The factoring likelihood method for monotone missing data, termed by Rubin (1974), is extended to a more general case of non-monotone missing data. The proposed method is algebraically equivalent to the Newton-Raphson method for the observed likelihood, but avoids the burden of computing the first and the second partial derivatives of the observed likelihood. Instead, the maximum likelihood estimates and their information matrices for each partition of the data set are computed separately and combined naturally using the generalized least squares method.

  • Electrical resistance tomography(ERT) maps resistivity values of the soil subsurface and characterizes buried objects. The characterization includes location, size, and resistivity of buried objects. In this paper, Gauss-Newton and truncated least squares(TLS) are presented for the solution of the ERT image reconstruction. Computer simulations show that the spatial resolution of the reconstructed images by the TLS approach is improved as compared to that obtained by the Gauss-Newton method.

  • By establishing a new summation formula for the series $_3F_2(\frac{1}{2})$, recently Rathie and Pogany have obtained an interesting result known as Kummer type II transformation for the generalized hypergeometric function $_2F_2$. Here we aim at deriving their result by using a very elementary method and presenting two elegant results for certain terminating series $_3F_2(2)$. Furthermore two interesting applications of our new results are demonstrated.

  • A technique is suggested which enables the large signal current and voltage waveforms to be determined for a GaAs Schottky-Barrier diode mixer by extracting the algorithm for the nonlinear circuit analysis from the Gauss-Jacobi relaxation and the application of the Harmonic Balance Technique. Both the nonlinear and linear steps of the analysis are included. This analysis permitts accurate determination of the conversion loss for microwave mixer and the computer simulation provides an method applicable to MMIC design. The validity of the nonlinear and linear analysis is confirmed by comparing the simulation results with experimental data of the conversion loss.

  • Generalizing the Burchnall-Chaundy operator method, the authors are aiming at presenting certain decomposition formulas for the chosen six Exton functions expressed in terms of Appell's functions $F_3$ and $F_4$, Horn's functions $H_3$ and $H_4$, and Gauss's hypergeometric function F. We also give some integral representations for the Exton functions $X_i$ (i = 6, 8, 14) each of whose kernels contains the Horn's function $H_4$.

  • The moment calculation in a truncated multivariate normal distribution is a long-standing problem in statistical computation. Recently, Kan and Robotti (2017) developed an algorithm able to calculate all orders of moment under different types of truncation. This result was implemented in an R package MomTrunc by Galarza et al. (2021); however, it is difficult to use the package in practical statistical problems because the computational burden increases exponentially as the order of the moment or the dimension of the random vector increases. Meanwhile, Lee (2021) presented an efficient numerical method in both accuracy and computational burden using Gauss-Hermit quadrature. This article introduces trunmnt implementation of Lee's work as an R package. The Package is believed to be useful for moment calculations in most practical statistical problems.
