  • Recently, Ethernet-based Diagnostic Over Internet Protocol (DoIP) was applied to automotive systems, and in-vehicle gateways have been introduced to integrate Ethernet with traditional in-vehicle networks, such as the local interconnect network (LIN), controller area network (CAN) and FlexRay. The introduction of in-vehicle gateways and of Ethernet based diagnostic protocols not only decreases the complexity of the networks, but also reduces the update time for ECU software reprogramming while enabling the use of a range of services, including remote diagnostics. In this paper, a diagnostic gateway was implement for an automotive system, and the performance measurements are presented. In addition, a range of applications provided by the diagnostic gateway are proposed.

  • The automobile networks consist of the communication bus systems which become independent and heterogeneous each other. Most often, the CAN buses are implemented in a car in order to connect all the electronic control units in various ways. Thus, some gateways are necessary for exchanging the useful information between electronic control units on the buses. The automobile body networks group is divided into two kinds on a large scale, namely the low-speed bus and the high-speed bus. To interchange messages between the two, a CAN signal gateway is designed and implemented in a miniature scale. A network analyzer (called "Vehicle spy") and an oscilloscope monitor network situation to confirm the due operation of CAN signal gateway. The efficiency of the designed gateway is evaluated. The more message thread increased, the more efficiency decreased.

  • In this work, we propose an analytic framework for evaluating the quality of service and dimensioning the link capacity in the gateway router of a smart farm with a greenhouse eco-management system. Specifically, we focus on the gateway router of an IoT network that provides an access service for smart farms. We design the link capacity of a gateway router that is used for the remote management of the greenhouse eco-management system to accommodate both time-critical and delay-tolerant traffic in a greenhouse LAN. For this purpose, we first investigate the ecosystem for smart farm, and we define the specification and requirements of the greenhouse eco-management system. Second, we propose a system model for the link capacity of a gateway that is required to guarantee the delay performance of time-critical applications in the greenhouse LAN. Finally, the validity of the proposed system is demonstrated through a series of numerical experiments.

  • Because of the rapid growth of Internet, the firewall is generally used to protect the network sorority. The firewall on Linux or FreeBSD Kernal, which is widely used, supports either Gateway or Bridge Mode. In this study, we present the firewall which supports simultaneously Gateway and Bridge Mode. For the application service, it is suggested that the firewall which has excellent expandability ran construct a network without another proxy.

  • In this paper, a smart constrained application protocol (CoAP)-based gateway with a border router is proposed for home safety services to remotely monitor the trespass, fire, and indoor air quality. The smart CoAP gateway controls a home safety sensor node with a pyroelectric infrared motion sensor, a fire sensor, a humidity and temperature sensor, and a non-dispersive infrared CO2 sensor and gathers sensing data from them. In addition, it can convert physical sensing data into understandable information and perform packet conversion as a border router for seamless connection between a low-power wireless personal area network (6LoWPAN) and the Internet (IPv6). Implementation and laboratory test results verify the feasibility of the smart CoAP gateway which especially can provide about 97.20% data throughput.

  • This paper presents the development of gateway for smart grid for the interoperable communication between IEC 61850 station leveled devices and one of legacy Modbus, DNP3, and IEC60870-5-101/104/103 communication protocol devices of bay level in substation or for the exchange of information between IEC 61850 substation and SCADA control center. The data-mapping model is designed for the exchange of information and the gateway configuration tool is developed for generating meta-data based on XML Schema. this paper is mostly concerned with the design and realization of gateway system for the interoperable data communication between a legacy protocol device and IEC61850 based devices or systems.

  • Multi-functional USN Gateway (MUG) is a multipurpose system combining a mesh router and a sensor gateway. The paper presents the design and implementation of the MUG system and the test-bed to verify the MUG system. MUG combines IEEE 802.11n based Wi-Fi mesh router functions and USN gateway functions. MUG supports IP sensor networks based on 6LoWPAN and non IP sensor networks based on ZigBee. MUG also provides various backhaul network interfaces including WiBro, HSDPA, and Ethernet Interfaces. We verify the feasibility of the MUG system through implementation and evaluate the performance by installing and testing several MUG systems in the test-bed.

  • High unemployment rates repeatedly cause recurring social problems such as fewer employment opportunities and employment insecurity. Following this trend, various programs related to employment have been provided through various government and institutions. However, they have established overlapping policies and programs and there is no one stop gateway to find effective and efficient way to find relevant information. For this purpose, this study aims to provide employment and job search subject gateway development. The study has carried out case studies, literature reviews, and user survey. Based on this study, it suggested a linked metadata model to organize and link scattered information together, and a digital gateway operating diverse information services. It is expected to provide a basis to develop comprehensive information service model for employment.
