Recently, housing consumers are demanding new types of residential housing and environmentally friendly housing. I think that the related issues and problems can be solved by introducing various types of independent housing. Garden is an important space for single family housing, providing calmness and restfulness etc. Furthermore, it provides a green space for our city. According to the result of this paper, I would like to suggest some important conclusions. 1) Residents in single family housing want sufficiently large garden space and they need good design of planting. 2) They are interested in gardening. They also want to have various ideas and information for gardening and need useful skills to prevent their garden from insects and diseases from the garden maintenance companies. 3) Generally, they want to design their garden for the usage of their relaxation and ornamental enjoyment.

Welwyn Garden City benefits from the greater design cohesion and management of development which gave it a more distinctive 'brand image' almost from the outset than its older garden city(Letchworth, Hampstead). Its planner, Louis de Soissons, brought a more obvious sense of traditional formal urbanism to the design of the second garden city. This was rather different to the distinctive but rather more informal arts and crafts approach of Raymond Unwin. Here it attempts to analyze how they greatly and firmly established the concept of Housing Group in the residential design, and what similar elements between Unwin and de Soissons in the New Town planning. It is pointed out that the Housing Group theory is composed of recognizing urban life as totality, and group planning theory, and that they definitely originated a new technique in the residential area. It is analyzed that the syntactic relations between the group planning theory and enclosed housing cluster designs in the English garden city are epitomized in Welwyn Garden City.

This paper has attempted to analyze the site planning theories of Raymond Unwin (1863-1940), who is called the father of British town planning. A prominent contribution of his was to establish both the site planning of garden suburb and urban housing style in British type. Here it attempts to analyze how he greatly and firmly established the concept of Housing Group, and how he got this the concept from the life and spatial composition of villages. It could be pointed out that the main factors of the Unwin theory are social mixture, creation of community consciousness and informal landscape design, and that the small enclosed space with plenty of amenity is his main theme. It is pointed out that the Unwin theory is composed of recognizing urban life as totality, and group planning theory, and that he definitely originated a new technique: Housing Group. It is analyzed that the syntactic relations between the group planning theory and housing designs in the English garden suburbs are epitomized in Hampstead Garden Suburb, Middlesex.

본 연구의 목적은 전원주택단지 수요자들의 입주선호요인을 파악하여 부산지역에 적절한 전원주택단지의 수요촉진방안을 찾아보는데 있다. 실증분석을 통하여 전원주택단지는 시장수요에 근거한 커뮤니티에 초점이 두어져야 하고, 도시근교에 편의시설과 인접한곳에 위치해야하며, 공동체시설이 적용되어야한다는 결론을 얻었다.

In order to examine the effect of impermeable surface (rooftop, outdoor parking lot) and rainwater infiltration facilities on runoff pH, pH was measured. pH measurement spots were splash blocks accepted roof runoff of 3 sites, infiltration boxes and trenches accepted parking lot runoff and plastic rainwater harvesting facility accepted roof runoff. These measurements were operated at 3 housing complexes from 2006 to 2009. The rainwater runoff pH was influenced by the quality of the runoff surface material (concrete), the age of the building, waterproofing methods according to each housing site, antecedent rainfall conditions and others. Rain garden, infiltration boxes and trenches decreased the alkalinity of runoff by detention and infiltrating the roof and outdoor parking lot runoff. These results mean that decentralized rainwater management facilities of housing complexes can reduce effect on the outskirt aquatic ecosystem by the accumulation of substances causing pH rising in the infiltration facilities and rain garden.

In this study, we aimed to identify the latest trends of landscape in apartment complexes by identifying how landscaping spaces are being created and what their characteristics are. Furthermore, we aimed to find out what type of garden is being constructed in the landscaping space and what the difference between the landscaping space and the garden space is, and to define the future direction of landscape for apartment complexes. The following results were our findings. First, we identified that landscaping space is divided into general landscaping space and garden space. The garden space has designated area within the whole apartment complex as a garden and there is a variety of garden themes and plants, facilities, packaging patterns, and sculptures are used accordingly. On the other hands general landscaping space features uniform patterns of packaging and simple planting patterns. Our finding is that the current trend is to set up separate garden space within the landscaping space of apartment complexes. Although gardens are often regarded as personal property and spaces that need to be cultivated or managed, and spaces that are limited to fences are defined as gardens, the current landscaping space of apartments is creating gardens-like spaces within public spaces.

This study is performed to establish the basis of the development of unique tropical botanical garden that will be connected with the identity of the local inheritance resources, 'Silla'. The glasshouse is the traditional 'Silla; housing and the landscape facilities are tried to imagine 'Silla' kingdom. Combination of the plant exhibition and the cultural inheritance resources can create their own unique theme. The garden divided into five spaces by life cycles of plants and the purpose of appreciation, the palm garden, ornamental foliage garden, flower garden, water lily garden, and tropical fruits garden. The appropriate flowers and trees are selected by their flowering time and the purpose of enjoyment. Especially, Ficus religiosa is the symbol plant of buddhism which is the state religion of 'Silla'.

Recently, people aim for a healthy environment which enhances quality of life, and also there are communication in green space like therapy garden and weekend farm growing. Meanwhile, in Korea, administrative organizations have leaded to plan and proceed in reference to physical regeneration in local areas, and this had caused social and maintenance problems. The purpose of this study was to introduce a concept of community garden which is regarded as green and community space and to insist on a way of residents participation on plan for community garden and its necessity. For that, there were five ways of residents participation on plan for community garden based on literatured and theoretical contemplation and case studies, and these were subject to construction project of community garden in deteriorated area in Jeonju city. This study can provide improvement guidelines for the initial stage of plan for residents participation community garden.

This study is about Tak Mok theory of feng-shui ideology which was main thought in Choson dynasty or some other thoughts and noble families' thought of garden building : planting trees and properties of the noble families garden. The result from the study of noble family's garden molding is as follows. In the noble family's garden molding, there were considerations of plant ecology known through long experience and the functional aspect of planting tree and esthetic sense of housing circumstances, in addition to feng-shui thought, Taoist thought and the doctrine of the five natural elements of the positive vs. negative. We can learn Choson's noble family's garden included playroom as well as symbolic and incantatory meaning. Also in the thought of noble family's garden molding we can found proper element for modern housing plan such as an ecological peculiarity or functional aspect of dwelling circumstance. And we can also found they didn't show a rejection symptoms against nature but enclosed with straight form which was traditional trait, and each space of it is composed organically. Also we knew they selected a diverse and refined technique with it's decorating the Choson dynasty playful and meditative space. We found that the key point of the thought of noble family's garden molding were on the basis of Confucianal mood, content amid poverty thought and free technique of it.

This research selected The Old Rectory, Sissinghurst and East Lambrook Manor as a case study location that is meaningful to discuss potager garden, herb garden and harvest garden, which is a topic of productive garden. This research focuses on the growth potential of Korea's rural house into a garden that embellishes decoration and appreciation. The application method through the interpretation of the case study location will be, first, organizing the shape of the flower bed and then adding additional materials along with the main materials. Second, it can increase the appreciation of productive garden through layering method and making it abundant. Third, it can be utilized well by pursuing artistic feature by combing unique color and texture of edible plants. Lastly, for the weakness of flat structure by short edible plants, vertical structure shall be utilized to provide decoration and frame. Also, by using natural materials, the ambiance of the garden can be presented.
