A Dual-Band Gap-Filler Antenna Design with a Phi-Shaped Slot

  • In this paper, we have proposed dual-band Phi-shaped slot gap filler antenna for satellite internet service applications. Some properties of the antenna such as return loss, radiation pattern, and gain have been simulated and measured. The proposed antenna has a Phi-shaped slot on the circular patch and is fabricated on the TLX-9 substrate. The radius of the circular patch is 25 mm, and it has a coaxial feeding structure. The dual-band Phi-shaped slot gap filler antenna has high-gain, small-size, simple-structure, and good radiation patterns at each band. The operating frequency band can be tuned by adjusting the length AL and FL of the Phi-shaped slot.

  • Buckling Restrained Braces (BRB) have been widely used in the construction industry as they utilize the most desirable properties of both constituent materials, i.e., steel and concrete. They present excellent structural qualities such as high load bearing capacity, ductility, energy-absorption capability and good structural fire behaviour. The effects of size and type of filler material in the existed gap at the steel core-concrete interface as well as the element's cross sectional shape, on BRB's fire resistance capacity was investigated in this paper. A nonlinear sequentially-coupled thermal-stress three-dimensional model was presented and validated by experimental results. Variation of the samples was described by three groups containing, the steel cores with the same cross section areas and equal yield strength but different materials (metal and concrete) and sizes for the gap. Responses in terms of temperature distribution, critical temperature, heating elapsed time and contraction level of BRB element were examined. The study showed that the superior fire performance of BRB was obtained by altering the filler material in the gap from metal to concrete as well as by increasing the size of the gap. Also, cylindrical BRB performed better under fire conditions compared to the rectangular cross section.

초내열합금 wide-gap 브레이징부의 미세조직 및 기계적 성질 변화에 미치는 첨가금속분말의 영향 (Effect of Additive Powder on Microstructural Evolutions and Mechanical Properties of the Wide-gap Brazed Region in IN738 superalloy)

  • The effect of IN738 additive powder on microstructure and mechanical properties of the wide-gap region brazed with BNi-3 filler metal powder was investigated. The wide-gap brazing was conducted in a vacuum of $2\times10^{-5}torr\;at\;1200^{\circ}C$ with various powder mixing ratios of additive to filler powders. The microstructures of the wide-gap brazed region were analyzed by SEM and AES. The region brazed with only BNi-3 filler metal powder had a microstructure consisted of proeutectic, binary eutectic and ternary eutectic structure, while that brazed with a mixture of IN738 additive powder and BNi-3 filler metal powder had a microstructure consisted of IN738 additive powder, binary eutectic of $Ni_3B-Ni$ solid solution and (Cr, W)B. The fracture strength of the wide-gap brazed region was about 680 MPa regardless of the additive powder mixing ratios. Cracks were initiated at the (Cr, W)B and binary eutectic of $Ni_3B-Ni$ solid solution, and propagated through them in the wide-gap brazed region, which lowered the fracture strength of the region.

용접 와이어를 사용한 Al5052 $CO_2$ 레이저 용접 (Al5052 Welding by $CO_2$ Laser using Filler Wire)

  • Compared to conventional welding process, laser welding does not use additional filler wire generally. However, if laser welding uses the filler wire, the applicability of the method can be broaden. When laser welding uses the filler wire, it is possible to enhance gap bridging ability and to prevent cracking in weld pool by metallurgical control. In this study, we had optimal condition and experimented gap bridging capability for butt welding with 2㎜ Al5052 alloys using the filler wire feeder. As the experimental parameters, wire feed rate and wire diameter are considered and then the performance of wire feed is evaluated under various filler wire welding conditions.

  • In case of high-levelled platform in the urban railway system, a certain width of gap is inevitably formed between the train and the platform, and the gap gets wider when it is concerned with curved portion of the tracks at platform. This gap greatly contributes to decrease of passengers' safety while boarding and alighting a train. In particular, it endangers children's safety. Gap filler system is often fitted out to minimize gap and to overcome this safety problem at platform. However, as existing gap fillers are in most case structurally complex and organized to be powered from separate supply unit, there are a range of non-favorable points from the viewpoint of cost, installation and maintenance. In addition, existing gap fillers are due to cause disruptions in operation of train, with failures such as malfunctioning of control system. In this study, the authors will review on the gap filler applicable to the platforms of various height types, which neither requires any modifications of the train nor causes any operational disruptions. The proposed gap filler system here is a by-stage retractile type and based on the idea of interlocking it with train doors open-close mechanism, without any additional power supply unit or control system.

  • This paper describes the design and fabrication of synchronous clock recovery module for S-DMB Gap Filler. Using the 2.304MHz TTL signal from gap filler tuner, clock recovery module with 10MHz output frequency including holdover function is designed. The measured performance of the clock recovery module shows a stability of less than 0.01ppm, 29 sec stability time, 10 sec holdover time, and maximum -113dBc/Hz@100Hz phase noise.

YIG Ferrite를 이용한 Gap Filter용 아이솔레이터 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Gap filler Isolator by using the YIG Ferrite)

  • In this paper, developed isolator for gap filler is analyzed and designed using the simulation tool. Using the designed parameters, isolator is fabricated and tested in gap filler band. Temperature characteristics of isolator depend on magnet, YIG ferrite, and conductor etc. These require temperature stability and possible method of compensation for the temperature dependent effects. The temperature stabilization tries to use Ni-alloy. Developed isolator that compare with room temperature and high temperature characteristics has change fewer than 20 MHz. Implemented isolator shows more than 20 dB isolation characteristic at center frequency(2,650 MHz) and has 0.2 dB insertion loss in overall 100 MHz operating bandwidth. Return losses of input and output port are measured below -20 dB.

  • 위성 디지털 멀티미디어 방송 (DMB : Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) 시스템은 효율적인 서비스 제공을 위해 위성과 지상중계기(Gap-filler)를 이용하여 서비스를 제공한다. 이때 지상중계기의 고출력 송출 신호는 위성으로부터 상대적으로 낮은 전력으로 수신되는 인접대역 서비스에 큰 간섭을 준다. 또한, 낮은 출력의 지상중계기를 사용할 경우 서비스 커버리지가 작아져 효율적인 지상중계기 운영을 할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 링크버짓 분석을 통해, 인접대역에서 서비스 되는 지상중계기와 위성과 의 간섭을 최소화하며, 지상 중계기의 서비스 반경을 최대화 할 수 있는 지상중계기의 송신전력(EIRP) 13dBW를 산출하였다.

안구이동추적을 통해 살펴본 관계절의 통사처리 과정 (Processing of syntactic dependency in Korean relative clauses: Evidence from an eye-tracking study)

  • 관계절의 공백과 채움어의 의존관계(gap-filler dependencies)가 어떻게 해결되는지에 대한 가설은 '채움어촉발 처리전략(filler-driven parsing strategy)'과 '공백촉발 처리전략(gap-driven parsing strategy)'으로 요약할 수 있다. 두 가설의 언어보편적 타당성을 알아보기 위해, 본 연구는 안구이동추적법(eyetracking)을 이용하여, 한국어 화자들이 후핵언어(head-final language)인 한국어의 주격관계절과 여격관계절을 실시간으로 처리하는 과정을 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 피험자들이 관계절 내 공백의 위치에서 채움어에 상응하는 그림을 거의 응시하지 않았으나, 관계사와 결합한 관계절동사를 들은 시점부터는 채움어 그림을 응시하는 비율이 큰 폭으로 증가하기 시작하여 머리어를 들은 시점에서 가장 많이, 가장 오래 채움어 그림을 응시하였다. 이 결과는 공백이 관계절의 처리를 촉발하는 것이 아니라, 관계사와 결합한 관계절 동사에서 관계절의 통사처리가 시작되어 채움어가 인지된 시점에서 완성됨을 보여주는 것이다. 또한 주격관계절과 여격관계절 간의 상이한 안구이동 양상은 관계절 내의 논항과 결합한 격조사의 통사정보에 기인하는 것으로 보여서, 한국어의 관계절은 채움어촉발 처리전략을 따르기는 하지만 영어와 같은 선핵언어와는 다른 처리전략이 사용됨을 알 수 있다.

Crest Factor Reduction기술을 이용한 위성 DMB용 Gap Filler 소형화 개발 (Downsizing of Gap Filler for Satellite DMB using Crest Factor Reduction Technology)

  • 각종 신호의 디지털 전송에서 Modulation기법에 의해 발생되는 PAPR(Peak to Average Power Ratio)은 전송 신호의 선형성을 보장하기 위하여 고출력 증폭기의 Back-off를 요구하게 된다. 이러한 고출력 증폭기의 Back-off요구로 인하여 원하는 출력에 비해 높은 전력소모량이 필요하여 대출력을 요구하는 장비의 소형화는 크게 제한을 받게 된다. 본 논문에서는 PAR을 감소하기 위한 CFR(Crest Factor Reduction)기법을 위성 DMB용 Gap Filler에 적용하여 장비 크기를 소형화한 사례에 대해 소개한다. 전송신호의 품질에 대한 영향을 최소화 하면서 PAR을 감소하기 위한 방안을 위해 도입된 Simulation 결과와 CFR기법을 적용한 장비에 대한 성능시험 결과 및 필드 테스트 결과에 대해 소개한다.
