A Study on Roll Eccentricity Detection in Hot Strip Mill

  • We propose an off-line methodology for detecting a faulty backup roll that generates eccentricity components, under the condition that the feeding velocity, equivalently the angular velocity of roll, is not constant. From a newly devised speed angle conversion algorithm, we transform all process data into those of a virtual process under a constant feeding speed. This indirectly way, we can apply a spectral analysis to the original process. In addition, we develop an online detection method of roll eccentricity based on newly designed PLG sensor. This PLG sensor is robust because of applying magnetic proximity sensnors and non-contact measurement method.

  • For the weld quality improvement and the convenient operation of machines, laser vision system can be used to track weld seams on pressure vessels. There are many bad conditions to the weld grooves such as cutting error, gap variation of weld joint, and offset error of center line caused by misalignment. We developed a laser vision seam tracking system which consists of a laser vision sensor, a two axis positioning mechanism and a user interface program running on the Windows system.   • This paper describes the mechanism, guidance, sensor system, and navigation algorithm of METRO, a free ranging mobile robot. METRO is designed for use in structured surroundings or factory environments rather than unstructured natural environments. An overview of the physical configuration of the mobile robot is presented as well as a description of its sensor system, an omnidirectional laser range finder. Except for the global path planning algorithm, a guidance and a navigation algorithm with a local path planning algorithm are used to navigate the mobile robot. In METRO the computer support is divided into a supervisor with image processing and local path planning and a slave with motor control. The free ranging mobile robot is self-controlled and all processing being performed on board.

  • In modern manufacturing industry such as aerospace, vehicle and die/mold industry, the high hardness malarial which is remarkable in aspects of durability is effectively used. The high-speed and precision machining technology has been applied in these fields. In this study, efficient sensors in high-speed machining by observing similar tendency through comparing cutting force with AE signal, gap sensor signal and accelerometer signal are selected, and machinability of high-speed machining is experimentally evaluated. We performed a basic research for sensing system construction to monitor a machine tool and machining condition.

선간 전압을 이용한 BLDC 모터의 센서리스 구동 (Sensorless Drive of the BLDC Motor using a Line Voltage Difference)

  • In recent years, sensorless drive schemes have been proposed widely and most of them are based on the ZCP (Zero Crossing Point) detection of the BEMF (Back Electro-Motive Force). These schemes have two main problems. One is that ZCP may not be detected at low speed and thus a forced drive is required. The other problem is that there is $30^{\circ}$ phase difference between ZCP and the motor commutation instant and to ensure proper operation, this gap should be accounted for. To solve these problems a circuit is devised for detecting ZCP of the BEMF difference through the line voltage difference. Experimental results show that the output of this circuit is identical to that of the Hall sensor signal, and velocity control of a BLDC motor is possible without the sensor.

  • The floating-gate MOSFETs were fabricated by employing 1.5 m n-well CMOS process and their optical-electrical properties were characterized for the application to CMOS image sensor system. Based on the simulation of energy band diagram and operating mechanism of parasitic BJT were proposed as solutions for the increase of photo-current value. In order to realize them, MOSFETs having multi-gate and channel structures were fabricated and 60% increase in photo-current was achieved through enlargement of depletion layer and parallel connection of parasitic BJTs by channel division.

중공축 모터를 이용한 회전아크에 관한 연구 (A Study on Rotating Arc Using Hollow Shaft Motor)

  • High speed rotating arc process, forming a flat bead surface with shallow penetration depth, can be applied to the automatic seam tracking, because the amplitude of current waveform increases at high rotation speed. Two high speed arc rotation mechanisms have been developed in Japan and Germany b rotating the electrode nozzle using an external motor, which are used prevalently for narrow gap and conventional seam welding. In this study, a new rotation mechanism was developed by using a hallow shaft motor designed to be installed in the electrode nozzle. By rotating the welding arc, the amplitude of current waveform increases remarkably since the self-regulation of arc is not fully performed. Experiments show that the arc sensor with high-speed rotation arc has improved its responsiveness and sensitivity.

  • Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been well known as electron emitters for field emission applications like FEDs. In this work, we propose as new application a vacuum sensor using CNTs and discuss its current-voltage characteristics as a function of vacuum pressure. The proposed sensor, based on electrical discharge theories in air gap well-known as Townsend theory and as Paschen's law, works by figuring out the variation of the dark current and the initial breakdown voltage depending on the vacuum pressure of air which can ionize through collisions with the electrons accelerated by high electric field.

  • A magnetic position sensor is a apparatus that detect the rotating position by measuring the value of the flux density of the rotating position. In this paper, the magnetization system of the permanent magnet in the magnetic position sensor which detects the rotating position was designed. The permanent magnet was magnetized for the flux density into the hole element to be sinusoidal distribution according to the rotating position. To make the sinusoidal distribution of flux density, the magnetization values according to the position in permanent magnet were varied by adjusting the air gap between the pole of the magnetization fixture and the surface of the permanent magnet.

근적외선 센서를 위한 Ag2Se 나노 입자 합성 및 광전기적 특성 (Synthesis and Optoelectronic Characteristics of Ag2Se Nanoparticle for NIR Sensor Application)

  • In this study, $Ag_2Se$ nanoparticles were synthesized by employing the colloidal method. The synthesized $Ag_2Se$ nanocrystals were spherical in shape with a diameter of approximately 4 nm and had high crystallinity. These attributes of $Ag_2Se$ nanocrystals were determined through images obtained from a high resolution transmission electron microscope. Thin films comprising the synthesized $Ag_2Se$ nanoparticles had an optical band gap of 1.5 eV. Furthermore, fabricated NIR sensors comprising $Ag_2Se$ nanoparticles exhibited a high detectivity of $5.5{\times}10^9$ Jones (above $1{\times}10^9$) at room temperature, leading to low power consumption
