  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of computer pointing game on the visual perception ability of children with severe intellectual disability. Based on a literature review, we developed a computer pointing game to improve visual perception ability, which consisted of three stages; catching a hamburger, catching a hamburger and a soda, and catching various foods. At each stage, different instructional models were applied by difficulty level of the contents. Experiments were performed among four children with severe intellectual disabilities for three weeks. They belonged to H public school in Kyeonggi, Korea. Their visual perceptions were quantitatively measured four times by utilizing the Korean Developmental Test of Visual Perception tool (K-DTVP-2). For qualitative evaluation, an observation assessment diary was written and analyzed. All four children at the fourth test showed better visual perception ability, compared with the ability at the first test. As a result of the analysis of the observation assessment, they were considered successful in their learning and ordinary life related to visual perception. It can be concluded that the computer pointing game may play a role in helping children with severe intellectual disabilities improve their visual perception ability.

  • Purpose : This study investigated the effect of 4 weeks training of virtual reality game on balance and gait ability, depression of elderly people. Methods : The subjects of this study were 12 elderly people over 65 age. The subjects were treated by training using virtual reality gam (during 60 minutes, 3 times a week for 4 weeks). The results of the experiment were analyzed using paired T-test along with averages and standard deviations as the statistical methods for data analyses. Results : In comparison of depression, gait and balance ability between pre-test and post-test, there were statistically significant differences. Conclusion : Our study finding indicate that training using virtual reality game could improve balance and gait ability, depression in elderly people. According to our study, training using virtual reality game is judged to be used for elderly people with gait and balance problems, depression to prevent fall down.

The subjects were 511 boys of 2 middle schools in Kwang-ju, Korea. The method was self-reporting questionnaire. For data analysis, frequency distribution, percentage, Cronbach's u coefficient were estimated. ANOVA, Duncan test, Pearson's coefficient, and multiple regression analysis were used. The major findings of the research are as follows ; First, most boys(91.4%) play computer game more than once in a week. And have over 2 years computer game experience. Second, computer game addiction score and aggression score, in general, tend to be below the mean scores. Third, boys who play computer game activities of high frequency, start play computer game at earner age, spent playing longer times of computer game, and like more on-line game were addicted to the computer game more than who don't. And boys who spent playing long times on computer game were more aggressive than who don't. Fourth, the influencies of computer game activities variables on aggression were not found significantly. But the influencies of computer game addiction were found significantly.'Negative sentiment $.$ sociality' was the most influencial variable on aggression. • With the prosperity of Internet, the game industry is occuping an important position in the national economic system. The study on the game industry which has been drawing eyes from researchers is of great significance. Many scholars have done researches on game motivations, but the elements of intrinsic motivation are still in the exploratory stage. This study determines the dimensions of the influencing factors of players 'intrinsic game motivation and their game experience by adopting the method of literature research. A theoretical model is established to explore the influence of intrinsic game motivation on players' game experience. Questionnaires from players of "The Honor of Kings" are collected through the Internet. SPSS 21.0 is utilized to test the model and hypotheses, and finally the results of the data are analysed. It verifies that intrinsic motivation mainly consists of four components: achievement, social interaction, immersion and escapism. By exploring the influence of the four elements on players' experience, it is concluded that the players' immersion and social interaction have a greater positive impact on their game experience. It is indicated that a better game design highlights the storyline of the game and the interaction system is of importance to enable players to gain a better game experience.

  • The present study investigated the validity of a serious game named 'Draw Ttoring' developed for accessment of children's attention and tried to provide the basic information about it. To this goal, we tested it to 284 elementary school students in measuring various behavior data(reaction time, total playing time, correct rate, discrepancy between type of TMT). Futhermore, the behavior data was compared with academic achievement to see the external validity. In results, 'Draw Ttoring' showed various behavior data and correlation with academic achievement. In Type A of TMT, total time and reaction time had a correlation with academic achievement, while, in Type B of TMT, total time and correct rate did. Mental flexibility calculated by the discrepancy between Type A and Type B showed also the positive correlation with academic achievement. These results showed that the serious game named 'Draw Ttoring' can provide more various information about children attention and these can't be observed by traditional paper pencil test. Finally, serious game can provide an good alternative method to access children's cognition.

  • As the development of games continues, the intelligence of NPC is becoming more and more important. Nowadays, the NPCs of MMORPGS are not only capable of simple actions like moving and attacking players, but also utilizing variety of skills and tactics as human-players do. This study suggests a method that grants characters used in RPG(Role-Playing Game) an ability of training and adaptation using Neural network and Genetic Algorithm. In this study, a simple game-play model is constructed to test how suggested intellect characters could train and adapt themselves to game rules and tactics. In the game-play model, three types of characters(Tanker, Dealer, Healer) are used. Intellect character group constructed by NN and GA, and trained by combats against enemy character group constructed by FSM. As the result of test, the proposed intellect characters group acquire an appropriate combat tactics by themselves according to their abilities and those of enemies, and adapt change of game rule.

  • The objective of this study was to determine the status of star chart game applications in the Google play store in Korea. The share of game genres in paid and free star charts of game applications was searched. Also, the average reviewer's rating, average number of reviews, and average age rating based on the genre of paid and free star charts of game applications, and the average price of paid applications based on genre were analyzed. Hypothesis tests for the differences in average reviewer's rating, average number of reviews, average age rating according to the genre of game applications were performed. Also, hypothesis tests for the differences in average reviewer's rating, average number of reviews, average age rating between the paid and free game applications along with the hypothesis test for the differences in price according to the genre of paid game applications were performed. Lastly, hypothesis tests for the correlation between the start chart ranking and number of reviews in association with the correlation between the start chart ranking and reviewer's rating were performed. Statistically significant differences in average reviewer's rating, average number of reviews, average age rating according to the genre of game applications, and between the paid and free game applications were verified. However, the correlation between the start chart ranking and number of reviews in association with the correlation between the start chart ranking and reviewer's rating were not statistically significant.

  • In this paper, we investigated the approach of advertisement to game users. The interaction area in the game was considered to be an effective advertising delivery area. In order to verify this, theoretical research was applied to the theory of advertising in game interaction. Then, based on the theory, we designed and produced the contents of the Gamification contents. The game was produced by being classified as exposed advertisement and interactive advertisement. Based on these two, professional focus test was conducted. As a result, we have verified the design of a Gamification advertisement applied to game interaction. The validity of the theory of Interactive Advertising Design was acknowledged. However, production verification proved to be below average.
