This paper proposed an efficient game character design method through semiotic analysis of character. It inquired into the characteristics of game character of various contents characters, added the concept of "Iconic abstraction" of Scott McCloud to its characteristics, and studied on the relation between the character and the semiotics. The semiotic character from the factual character, seized the strong and weak point of each character, and divided them in the designer's character production process and gamer's character recognition process step by step for its semiotic interpretation. As a result, two processes were reversely progressed, and the character designing process considering this gamer's semiotic recognition process is expected to be the efficient character design element that can deliver the whole characteristics of game contents.

Various lean design and construction methods such as target value design, pull planning, value stream mapping have successfully transformed the commercial building construction industry into achieving improved productivity, higher design and construction quality, and meeting the target values of construction projects. Considering the significant advantages of lean, the accelerated dissemination and adoption of lean methods and tools for construction is highly desirable. Currently, the lean design and construction body of knowledge is imparted primarily through publications and conferences. However, one of the most effective ways to impart this soft knowledge is through getting students and trainees involved in hands-on participatory games, which can quickly help them truly understand the concept and apply it to real-world problems. The COVID-19 Pandemic has raised an urgent need of developing virtual games that can be played simultaneously from various locations over the Internet, but these virtual games should be as effective as in-person games. This research develops an online 3D simulation game for Target Value Design that is as effective as in-person games or possibly better in terms of knowledge capture and retention and enjoyable environment and experience. The virtual game is tested on volunteers using feedback from pre-and post- simulation surveys to evaluate its efficacy.

As the world game marcket has been recording weak growth, the development of new gane concept is required to attract the gamer's attention from those who were fed up with the previous game paradigm. Recently, the game which can recognize the player's motions and provide new interaction between the game and user is more popular than ever before. In the games with somesthesia based on Virtual Reality, the sense of the reality is considered the most important factor for drawing immersion from the gamers. In this work, a new type of 3-axis accelerometer based interactive game interface which can effectively recognize the gamer' motion is suggested. Furthermore, various experiments are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
In this paper, two kinds of controller are proposed for a soccer robot system.. One for Supervisor and defense mode, and the other for attack mode. Robot soccer game has very dynamic characteristics. Furthermore, there exist competitions between agents. The soccer-playing robot should take an appropriate action according to its surroundings. Initially, an attack mode controller using a vector field concept is designed, then a supervisor and a defense mode controller are designed with a Petri-net. The efficiency and applicability of the proposed controllers are demonstrated through a real robot soccer game(MiroSot 97).

The feature of digital media's interactivity made the traditional storytelling to be evolved into a new concept of digital storytelling. Unlike films or animations, games' storytelling takes open-ended design method; thus, it is possible to create unlimited number of stones within a game depending upon the decisions of player characters. In this paper, a character-centered game storytelling system of a highly story-based RPG genre will be reviewed, and, it analyzes case studies of how a character with various story values can interact with its background story, virtual game world, and many events in its game storytelling system. Game storytelling structure and game mechanics are related to each other very closely. Therefore, it is possible to control the player's overall movement as the character's story develops according to a predictable structure or situation.

The purpose of this study is to develop a board game design activity for environmental education and to investigate how it affects high school students' environmental knowledge, environmental literacy, and creative engineering problem solving propensity. Twenty-five freshman and sophomore students belonging to the environmental club participated in this study. The board game activity was designed as 10 class hours lessons based on the engineering design process. The main data source of this study was pre-post students' conceptual maps of the environmental topics (global warming or ecosystem destruction) to measure the background knowledge on the topic. In addition, the environmental literacy measurement questionnaire and the creative engineering problem solving propensity questionnaire were collected before and after the activity. The result shows that the number of environment-related words described by the students on the post-concept map increased compared to the pre-concept map. In addition, the environmental literacy score and the creative engineering problem-solving propensity score increased significantly after performing the board game design activity. The results show that environmental lessons using board game design activities can help student develop various competencies in a good way. As above, research that combines board games and secondary education must be activated, and a new educational method and systemic support for in-service teachers who want to apply it to science classroom is required.

The importance of a using the visual media in English education has been increased. By an importance of Characters in English language content, the more effort is needed for a learner to show the English pronunciation and a realistic implementation. In this paper, we tried to review the Syntax-based Educational Contents Authoring System. For the more realistic lip-sync character, 3D character to enhance the efficiency of the education was constructed. We used a chart of the association structure analysis of mouth's shape. we produced an optimized 3D character through a process of a concept, a modeling, a mapping and an animating design. For more effective educational content for 3D character creation, the next research will be continuously a 3d Character added to a hand motion and body motion in order to show an effective communication example.
Online game digital hanbok has an aesthetic value in a digital culture and is useful for developing a digital hanbok design for online games as well as other industries. This thesis analyzes its attire and design composition elements to design a 3D digital hanbok by utilizing its formative characteristics. The literature review defines them as transmutability, virtuality, fictionality, reality and playfulness based on the characteristics of digital media, late digital generation and online games. We analyzed 471 images from 50 online games. Sonmaep was used for making 3D digital hanboks. Its attire was grouped into jogori pants, jogori chima, po and armor. Its design composition elements were classified as pleat, layering mu or hemline, mu sub gyeopmagi mitbadae, vent, git dongjung and decoration elements. The results feature 8 digital hanbok designs. Reality designs are replicas of jogori daegugo for men and po for women in the period of the Three States. Virtuality designs are slightly changed shapes of yoseoncheolrik for men and white jogori yellow chima for women in the Koryo Dynasty. Fictionality designs are casual fusion armors for men and women as a hyperbolic form. Playfulness designs are doll costumes for men and jogori chima for women as a kitsch and childish style. The concept of online game digital hanbok escapes from conceptual limitations of traditional hanboks. This result can be used for designing digital hanbok contents in various industrial parts.

Building a game has been used as effective and attractive way of teaching computer science. Building a usable Multi-player Game is requires important aspects of technology, teamwork and software engineering principles. The whole class was structured in to several teams and students needed to join one or two teams. Each team presented their progress, discussed future milestones and troubleshoots, updated documents for clearer communication and utilized SVN(Subversion) throughout the semester. Unlike usual class setting, all students worked collaboratively together like one company to achieve the goal. In one semester, students started from concept design and completed a working Multiplayer Online Game called "deBugger" (Fall 2009), and "World of Balance" (Fall 2011), while learning game design, 3D graphics, Game Engine, Server-client architecture, Game Protocol, network programming, database, Software Engineering principles, and large application development as a team project.
Although people's anxiety about the environmental problem has been getting higher, they are not provided good quality of knowledge about the environment. Based on this situation, Ecoblog can be a new type of online community to educate the public in ecological knowledge. Especially, Ecoblog can be utilized as a method of "preventive education", and it will contribute to reduce great amounts of environmental budget to restore contaminated environment to previous condition. Ecoblog also utilizes the concept of blog which user can create and append their site with chosen themes. A weblog or a blog is a non-commercial webpage regularly updated through the use of a blogging software which allows the user to "publish" kinds of amalgamations of text and graphics to the page as posts. The technology offered in Ecoblog is utilizing the concept of 4D place and game metaphor in order to provide users the sense of participation, interaction and immersion among them and the growing community. Thus, it requires applying the CAAD technology by implementing semantically well-defined building data model as a core database to create a 4D virtual community. This research focuses on defining a 4d spatial framework suitable for developing an online ecological community. Through our study, the state-of-the-art of online community has been studied at the first step. Second, the scenario of using EcoBlog described with content, visualization and navigation are defined based on the critical features derived at the first step. Finally, a 4d spatial framework composed of semantic building data model, content and rule database is constructed to propose factors that are necessary to establish an ecological virtual community. In conclusion, our framework could enhance the comprehension and interaction between users and virtual buildings in the ecological community by integrating the concept of game design, 4D CAD and semantic data model. Such framework can be applied to any online community for an educational purpose.
