  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of trunk stability training on static balance and game records among archers. Methods: The subjects comprised 24 voluntary archers in middle and high school (aged 14-19 years). All the subjects received trunk stability training for an hour per day 3 days a week for 4 weeks. The Tetrax balance system was used to measure the stability index of the subjects' static balance. The subjects' game records were scored using a single FITA round system. All the subjects were measured before the intervention, 2 weeks into the intervention, and 4 weeks after the intervention, with a follow-up measurement 2 weeks later. Results: The results of this study showed that the stability index was significantly different across all the measuring positions after the intervention (p<0.05). Furthermore, the results of the measurements of the standing position with eyes open and closed were significantly different before the intervention compared to 4 weeks after the intervention (p<0.05). The archery position with the head turned to the left and eyes closed was also significantly different pre-intervention compared to 2 weeks after the start of the intervention (p<0.05). Additionally, the archery records were significantly different after the intervention (p<0.05), as well as before the intervention and 4 weeks after the intervention (p<0.05). Conclusion: Trunk stability training can improve static balance in archers. It may also be helpful in improving athletic performance and maintaining the life of the athlete. Accordingly, trunk stability training may prevent and resolve injuries through careful management when playing one-side sports.

  • Computer games should keep user's immersion for fun. Flow can be occured on the balance of user's game skill level and the difficulty level of the challenges by an immersion theory. Computer games can make automatic control of the challenge difficulty level but user's game skill makes difficult to know instantly its level on gameplay because the skill is decided by game goals, user tendency, or user experience. In this paper, we proposed a method of measurement of user's gameplay skill level that we can know the skill level instantly on gameplay. The proposed methods require to be implemented in the stages of the design and implementation of the computer game to be used. Computer games can keep continuously the balance of user's game skill level and the difficulty level of the challenges in order to occur flow immersion by using the proposed measurement method and automatic control methods of the difficulty of game challenges.

  • This study aimed to examine the mechanisms underlying digital game usage behavior by applying the Theory of Planned Behavior and the Balance Theory. It investigated the influences of attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on the intention to use digital games, as well as the differences in the application of the Theory of Planned Behavior model based on the balance state among individuals, significant others, and digital games. A total of 315 responses from adult PC game users were collected through an online survey conducted from October 21 to 25, 2021, and were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The results revealed that attitude and perceived behavioral control had a significant positive impact on the intention to continue using digital games, while subjective norms did not exert a significant influence. By categorizing groups into balanced, unbalanced, and imbalance states based on the balance relationship, the application of the Theory of Planned Behavior model showed that in the unbalanced and imbalance groups, both perceived behavioral control and attitude had a positive impact on the intention to continue using digital games. However, in the balanced group, attitude only had a positive impact on the intention to continue game usage. This study contributes to understanding digital game users by examining both individual psychological factors and the influence of others on digital game usage behavior.

  • Spatial partitioning trees are needed for processing collision detections efficiently. In order to select split planes for spatial partitioning trees, the tree balance and the number of polygons overlapped with the split plane should be considered. In this paper, the heuristic algorithm controlling weight values of tree build criteria is proposed for spatial partitioning trees of 3D games. As the weight values are changed, tree build time, T-junction elimination time which can cause visual artifacts in splitting polygons overlapped with the split plane, rendering speed (frame per second: FPS) according to tree balance are analysed under 3D game simulations.

  • Building a game has been used as effective and attractive way of teaching computer science. Building a usable Multi-player Game is requires important aspects of technology, teamwork and software engineering principles. The whole class was structured in to several teams and students needed to join one or two teams. Each team presented their progress, discussed future milestones and troubleshoots, updated documents for clearer communication and utilized SVN(Subversion) throughout the semester. Unlike usual class setting, all students worked collaboratively together like one company to achieve the goal. In one semester, students started from concept design and completed a working Multiplayer Online Game called "deBugger" (Fall 2009), and "World of Balance" (Fall 2011), while learning game design, 3D graphics, Game Engine, Server-client architecture, Game Protocol, network programming, database, Software Engineering principles, and large application development as a team project.

  • Background: Digital therapeutics are software medical devices that provide evidence-based treatments to prevent, manage, and treat disease. Digital therapies have recently been shown to be effective in motivating children with cerebral palsy as a tool in neuropsychological therapy. Digital therapies improve postural control, balance and gait in children with cerebral palsy. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effects of digital therapies on balance and gait in children with cerebral palsy and to provide guidelines for prescribing digital therapies for children with cerebral palsy. Design: A Systematic Review Methods: This study searched for English-language articles published in medical journals from January 2000 to July 2023 using PubMed and MEDLINE based on the year of initiation of the digital therapy. The search terms used in the study were 'digital technology' OR 'digital therapeutic' OR 'mobile application' OR 'mobile health' OR 'virtual reality' OR 'game' AND 'cerebral palsy', 'balance' 'gait' as the main keywords. The final article was assigned an evidence level and a Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) score to assess the quality of clinical trials studies. Results: The digital therapies applied to improve balance and gait in children with cerebral palsy are game-based virtual reality training and the Nintendo Wii Fit program. Both digital therapy interventions had a significant effect on improving balance in children with cerebral palsy, and virtual reality training significantly improved balance and gait. However, there were no significant improvements in balance and gait within two weeks of treatment, regardless of the type of digital intervention. Conclusion: The study suggests that this data will be important in building the evidence base for the effectiveness of digital therapies on balance and gait in children with cerebral palsy and in advancing clinical protocols.

  • In this paper, we analyze the immersion effects according to the level of map in adventure game. Computer games are actively enjoyed by many people around the world. Game players have frequently experienced the immersion which is an important aspect to be attained from games. However, it is not clear what immersion is and what kinds of factors influence to immersion. Nonetheless, in recent many researches, the elements of humanities and fun were found as factors of immersion in various digital contents such as game, virtual reality, cinema and etc. Therefore, today's games are developed on the basis of the humanities and fun theory that many researchers have been studied for a long time. In games, the balance of the level of map is related with immersion. Hence, it is important to know how the map patterns of game affect immersion of players. In this paper, we developed a 3D survival adventure game named by "1 Hour" using Unity3D in order to simulate how map patterns affect immersion of players. We also analyzed the relationship between the level of map and immersion using the game.
