EFFECT OF COMPRESSIVE RESIDUAL STRESS FOR CORROSION PROPERTY OF SUP-9 STEEL USING AS SUSPENSION MATERIAL

  • One of the useful technologies for light-weightening of components required in the automobile and machine industry is to use high strength materials. To improve material properties, the carbonizing treatment, nitrifying treatment, and shot-peening method are representatively applied. However, the shot-peening method is generally used to remove surface defect on steel and to improve the fatigue strength of the surface. Benefits of shot-peening are increasing resistance against fatigue, stress corrosion cracking, fretting, galling, erosion and closing of pores. In this paper, the effect of shot-peening on the corrosion of SUP-9 steel immersed in a 3.5% NaCl solution and corrosion characteristics from heat treatment during the shot peening process has been investigated. The immersion test was performed on four kinds of specimens. Corrosion potential, the polarization curve, residual stress etc. Were analyzed from the experimental results.

  • Metalworking fluids (MWFs) are fluids used during machining and grinding to prolong the lift of the tool, carry away debris, and protect the surfaces of work pieces. These fluids reduce friction between the cutting tool and the work surface. reduce wear and galling, protect surface characteristics, reduce surface adhesion or welding and carry away generated heat. Workers can be exposed to MWFs by inhaling aerosols (mists) and by skin contact with the fluid. Skin contact occurs by dipping the hands into the fluid, splashes, or handling workpieces coated with the fluids. The amount of mist generated (and the resulting level of exposure) depends on many factors. To reduce the environmental pollution wastes and the potential health risks associated with occupational exposures to MWFs, it is required to establish optimum MWFs supply method and condition with minimum quantity in all over the mechanical machining field including high-speed type heavy cutting process.

AZ31B 마그네슘 합금의 온간 마찰 특성 연구 (Study of Frictional Behavior of AZ31B Mg Alloy at Elevated Temperature)

  • The success of warm forming of Mg alloy sheets is very dependent on its frictional behavior at elevated temperatures. The effects of contact pressure and sliding length on the frictional characteristics of AZ31B Mg alloy sheet were investigated at elevated temperature and at room temperature. The contact pressure range for the friction test was determined through FE analysis of the roof panel which is a candidate for Mg alloy application. According to the experimental results, the frictional behavior of the Mg alloy sheet is equally highly influenced by both sliding length and contact pressure at room temperature. At elevated temperatures, however, the sliding length has a more dominant influence on the frictional characteristics of the Mg alloy sheet than the contact pressure, if the contact pressure is lower than a certain level.

Ti-6Al-4V 고강도 볼트의 성형성에 미치는 표면산화효과 (Effect of Thermal Oxidation Coating on the Hot Forging Process of High Strength Ti-6Al-4V Bolt)

  • Since fastener bolt for airplane require high specific strength and corrosion resistance, Ti-6Al-4V alloy is widely used. However, the Ti-6Al-4V bolt is generally manufactured by cutting and rolling because of their poor workability. The aim of present work is to develop hot forming technology for high strength Ti-6Al-4V. Various heat-treatments were applied to specimen in order to increase hot-workability and prevent galling with die. Multiple forging were simulated with FE code to determine optimum process parameters including specimen temperature, strain rate, local strain, and thermal shrinkage. Forged samples were heat-treated again to increase their mechanical properties.

금속소재 부품의 고장분석 사례 (Failure Analysis of Metallic Components)

  • Failure analyses were conducted on a crank shaft and a chock liner by using X-ray diffraction, optical microscopy and SEM/EDS techniques. In the crank shaft, a crack developed where a maximum tensile stress coincided with band structure formed by hot forging. The maximum tensile stress was observed to originate from volume expansion during high frequency induction heat treatment and the band structure to develop between upper and lower dies during hot forging. In the chock liner, the wear mechanism varied with the chemical affinity and hardness of liner material relative to friction pair of housing liner. Brass of low chemical affinity and hardness compared to housing liner showed uniform adhesive wear. STS 304 and STS 420J2 of high chemical affinity showed galling and scoring respectively.

CVD 방법으로 코우팅된 공구들의 생산과 응용

  • 최근 10년간 공구의 耐마모 코우팅 분야는 급속한 발전을 하여 왔다. 처음에는 초경 합금 인서트를 TiC로 단층 코우팅하였다. 코우팅 효과를 고려함에 따라 TiC, Ti(C,N), TiN으로 코우팅하게 되었고 또한 $Al_2O_3$ 코우팅도 많이 사용하였다. 처음의 코우팅은 공정작업의 어려움으로 극히 어려웠으나, 밀링작업에 대한 코우팅은 발달하여 왔다. 그림1.은 선반가공과 밀링작업을 하기 위한 초경 합금 인서트를 공구지지대로 지지하고 코우팅 한 것이다. 코우팅의 발전은 공구 코우팅과 강의 마모부분에 코우팅 하는 것으로 많이 발전하였다. 현재 CVD방법이 코우팅에 쓰이고 있으며 저온에서 강에 코우팅하는 작업에는 PVD방법을 도입하기에 이르렀고, 공구의 수명은 3~10배 증가하였으며 코우팅의 효과는 아래와 같이 요약된다. 1. 마찰력 감소, 열발생 감소, 절삭력 감소 2. 고속 절삭시 공구의 표면과 칩사이 확산 감소(코우팅은 확산 장벽으로 작용함) 3. 갤링(galling)을 막아줌. 공구의 수명 연장과 여러분야에 사용하기 위한 최적의 요구 조건은 다음과 같다. -공구재와 접촉시 화학적 안정성 -耐 산화성 -耐 마모성 -갤링의 방지 -耐 충격성 耐 열주기 -모재에 대한 코우팅 재의 충분한 접착성.

살선충제 Imicyafos 입제의 2종 뿌리혹선충에 대한 방제 효과 (Control Effects of Imicyafos GR against Two Species of the Root-knot Nematodes (Meloidogyne incognita and Meloidogyne hapla))

  • 살선충제인 imicyafos 입제 처리에 따른 방제효과를 알아보기 위하여 고구마뿌리혹선충과 당근뿌리혹선충을 대상으로 포트시험과 포장시험을 수행하였다. 포트시험 결과 imicyafos 입제 처리 60일 후 생충수와 난낭수 조사에서 고구마뿌리혹선충은 91.5%, 94.2%, 당근뿌리혹선충은 90.6%, 95.1%로 각각 높은 방제 효과를 나타내었다. 시설재배 수박, 참외, 멜론, 오이, 토마토에서 imicyafos 입제를 처리하여 방제효과를 조사한 결과 고구마뿌리혹선충에 대하여 imicyafos 입제는 처리 후 30일째와 60일째 까지 90% 이상의 방제가를 나타내었으며, 약효의 지속성도 뛰어났다. 특히 imicyafos 입제를 처리가 fosthiazate 입제 처리 보다 난낭수 형성을 더 억제하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 살선충제인 imicyafos 입제는 고구마뿌리혹선충이나 당근뿌리혹선충 방제에 실용성이 있을 것으로 판단된다.

뿌리혹 선충에 대한 선충 천적 기생균의 생물적 방제 효과 (Evaluation for Biocontrol Potentials of Nematophagous Fungi against Root-knot Nematode)

  • 5종의 선충 천적 기새균 A. arthrobotryoudes, A. conoides, A. oligospora, D. lobata 그리고 F. oxysporum 을 이용해 온실에서 당근뿌리 혹선충 방제효과를 시험한 결과, 선충 천적 기생균을 처리했을 때 뿌리혹형성이 감소하였고 또한 고추생육이 증진되었다. 5가지 천적 진균 모두 4가지 접종원 농도로 처리했을 때 뿌리혹 형성을 무처리와 비교한 결과 현저히 감소되었다. 특히 F. oxysporum 처리구가 뿌리혹 감소 효과가 매우 높았다. 고추 지상부 생육은 A. arthrobotryoides, A. conotdes, A. oligospora, D. lobata and F. oxysporum 접종원을 고추 정식전처리했을 때 크게 증가하였으나 나머지 처리구에서는 무처리와 비교해서 현저한 차이는 없었다. 온실 시험과 실내시험을 통하여 방제 효과가 우수하였던 D. lobata와 F. oxysporum을 선발하여 뿌리혹 선충의 밀도가 높은 포장에서 시험한 결과, 두가지 선충 천적 기생균 모두 접종원 농도 1 : 70, 1 : 100 에서 무처리에 비해 고추의 뿌리혹수가 현저히 감소하였다. 이때 고추 지상부 생육은 두처리 모두 온실 시험에서 보다 크게 증가하였다.

  • Recently, the request for the high strength of material is more and more increased in the area of industrial environment and machinery. To accomplish the high strength of materials, carbonizing treatment, nitrifying treatment, shot-peening method are representatively applied, however, shot-peening method is generally used among the surface processes. Shot peening is a cold working process used to impact Compressive residual stressed in the exposed surface layers. Benefits due to shot peening are increase in resistance to fatigue, stress corrosion cracking, fretting, galling, erosion and closing of pores. In this study, the influence of shot peening on the corrosion was investigated on spring steel immersed in 3.5% NaCl. The immersion test as performed on the two kinds of specimens. Corrsion potential, polarization curve, residual stress and etc, were investigated from experiment results. From test result the effect of shot peening on the corrosion was evaluated. The important results of the experimental study on the effects of shot peened on the environment corrosion of spring steels are as follows; In case of corrosion potential, shot peened specimen shows more activated negative direction as compared with parent mental. Surface of specimen, which is treated with the shot peened is placed as more activated state against inner base metal. It can cause t도 anti-corrosion effect on the base metal.
