  • This paper elaborates two novel proposed topologies (type-I and type-II) of the high step-up DC-DC converter using switched inductor and voltage multiplier cell. The advantages of these proposed topologies are the less voltage stress on semiconductor devices, low device count, high power conversion efficiency, high switch utilization factor and high diode utilization factor. We analyze the Type-II topologies operating principle and mathematical analysis in detail in continuous conduction mode. High-intensity discharge lamp for the automotive application can use the derived topologies. The proposed converters give better performance when compared to the existing types. Also, it is found that the proposed type-II converter has relatively higher voltage gain compared to the type-I converter. A 40 W, 12 V input voltage and 72 V output voltage has developed for the type-II converter and the performances are validated.

  • The goal of this study is to analyze the impact of load factors on building energy consumption by using EnergyPlus program. We selected a campus building and monitored energy consumption from January 2009 to November 2010. First, we simulated energy consumption basically with weather data, building heat gain and EHP performance data. And then we simulated energy consumption with three additional parameter(infiltration, OA control and schedule). Simulation results are verified by MBE and Cv(RMSE) proposed by M&V guideline 3.0. Simulated total energy consumption was 104.3% of measurements, 4.33% of MBE, and 13.62% of Cv(RMSE). Results show infiltration and schedule were revealed as the most dominant factor of heating energy consumption and of cooling energy consumption, respectively.

  • In this paper, a novel bridgeless interleaved power factor correction circuit with single current sensor is proposed. The proposed control strategy requires only one current sensor for the interleaved bridgeless PFC. By sampling the output current, all the boost indictor currents can be calculated and used to control the input current according to the input voltage. The reduced number of current sensors and associated feedback circuits helps reduce the cost of system. The problem caused by the unequal current gain between current sensors inherently does not exist in the proposed topology. Thus, current sharing between converters can be achieved more accurately and the high frequency distortion is decreased. In addition, the proposed technique can be applied to the other kinds of interleaved PFC topologies. Performance of the proposed control strategy is verified by the experimental results with 6.6kW bridgeless interleaved PFC circuit.

  • Using the Taguchi method, optimum process condition of lead frame blanking has been determined in the point of view of shape of blanked profile. As the main process parameters, clearance, strip holding pressure and bridge width are selected. According to the orthogonal array table, three levels of experiment have been carried out for each factor. The optimal blanking condition is analyzed with the SN ratio. It has been verified that the optimal Process condition can be determined with a combination of basic blanking experiment and experiment design method. Both the effect of each factor and gain can be judged in the quantitative manner from the analysis of SN ratio.

  • The electromagnetic levitation(EMS) system is one of the well-known nonlinear system because of its nonlinearity and several control techniques have been proposed. We propose an ${\epsilon}$-scaling partial feedback controller for the ball position control of the EMS system. The key feature of our proposed controller is the use of the scaling factor ${\epsilon}$ which provides a function of controller gain tuning along with robustness. In this paper, we show the stability analysis of our proposed controller and the convergence analysis of the state observer in terms of ${\epsilon}$-scaling factor. In addition, the experimental results show the validity of the proposed controller and improved control performance over the conventional PID controller.

  • An optimization method of patch shape was developed in this study, in order to improve repair of cracked plates. It aimed to minimize three objectives: stress intensity factor, patch volume and shear stresses in the adhesive film. The choice of these objectives ensures improving crack repair, gaining mass and enhancing the adhesion durability between the fractured plate and the composite patch. This was a multi-objective optimization combined with Finite elements calculations to find out the best distribution of patch height with respect to its width. The implementation of the method identified families of optimal shapes with specific geometric features around the crack tip and at the horizontal end of the patch. Considerable mass gain was achieved while improving the repair efficiency and keeping the adhesive shear stress at low levels.

  • A free space transmission method using standard gain horn antennas in the frequency range from 9.0 to 10.5GHz is applied to determine the dielectric properties of grain such as rough rice, brown rife and barley. The dielectric constant and loss factor, which depend on the moisture content of the wetted grain are obtained from the measured attenuation and phase shift by vector network analyzer. The effect of density fluctuation, which is an important parameter governing the dielectric properties of grain, on the dielectric constant and loss factor is presented. A new density-independent model in terms of measured attenuation and moisture density is proposed for reducing the effects of density fluctuation on the moisture content measurement.

  • This paper is concerned with the reverse link performance of multi-code CDMA systems in multipath fading environments. The degree of orthogonality loss among multiple spreading code channels is characterized as the orthogonality factor. It depends on various system parameters including multipath power profiles of propagation channels and the number of Paths resolved at a Rake receiver. The effect of the parameters on the system performance is then investigated in terms of bit error rate and required signal quality. The results show that multipath delay power profiles dominantly affect mutual interference among multi-code channels and multipath combining gain by bandwidth expansion is not so great due to the increase of the mutual interference. Moreover, the orthogonality factor is derived as the value of between (1/m) and 1.

  • IT platform migration to open systems (IPMO) bears a great deal of risk over all the associated processes, in terms of a major IT investment. Hence it requires empirical data and references for decision making. Although there have been a number of published papers encouraging or discouraging IPMO, the studies that deliver useful empirical evidence for IPMO decisions are rare. The obvious first step to resolve this problem would be to gain lessons from the organizations who experienced IPMO. Based on the Delphi study, we examine both the pre and post evaluations on IPMO benefits and risks and analyze the underlying reasons of different evaluations from different stages. Our results identify the most important factor the organizations should seriously consider, and which factor is easy to neglect at the ex-ante appraisal stage.

  • The rosen types of piezo-transformers were prepared and electrical properties were investigated in order to establish the optimum parameters in the process of polarization for ferroelectric materials. Polarization was readily originated with increasing the external energy such as an applied voltage, time, and temperature so that the planar coupling factor and voltage gain were saturated under the conditions of over 14$0^{\circ}C$, applied voltage and time of 4 kV/mm and 3 minutes respectively. The empirical equation for domain rotation probability, which was in proportion to square of an applied voltage and temperature and square root of time, as functions of the above parameters was defined.
