A new gain-scheduled control design is proposed to improve disturbance attenuation for systems with bounded control input. The state feedback controller is scheduled according to the proximity to the origin of the state of the plant. The controllers is derived in the framework of linear matrix inequality(LMI) optimization. This procedure yields a linear time varying control structure that allows higher gain and hence higher performance controllers as the state move closer to the origin. The main results give sufficient conditions for the satisfaction of a parameter-dependent performance measure, without violating the bounded control input condition.
In the fuzzy control for the multi-variable system, it is difficult to obtain the fuzzy rule. Therefore, the parallel structure of the independent single input-single output fuzzy controller using a pairing between the input and output variable is applied to the multi-variable system. The concept of relative gain matrix is used to obtain the input-output pairs. However, among the input/output variables which are not paired the interactive effects should be taken into account. these mutual coupling of variables affect the control performance. Therefore, for the control system with a strong coupling property, the control performance is sometimes lowered. In this paper, the effect of mutual coupling of variables is considered by tile introduction of a simple compensator. This compensator adjusts the degree of coupling between variables using a neural network. In this proposed neuro-fuzzy controller, the Neural network which is realized by back-propagation algorithm, adjusts the mutual coupling weight between variables.
The two-channel Generalized Sidelobe Canceller (GSC) scheme suffers from the presence of leakage signal in the reference channel. The leakage signal is caused by the dissimilar impulse responses between microphones, and different paths from speech source to microphones. Such leakage is detrimental to speech enhancement of the GSC since the desired reference signal becomes corrupted. In order to suppress the signal leakage, two matrix injection methods are proposed. In the first method, a simple gain compensation matrix is used. In the second, a projection matrix for reducing the error between the actual and the ideal primary and reference signals, is used. This paper describes the performance degradation resulting from leakage, and proposes effective methods to resolve the problem. Representative experiments were conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods on recorded speech and noise in an actual automobile environment.
In this paper, speech enhancement using nonnegative matrix factorization with temporal continuity has been addressed. Speech and noise signals are modeled as Possion distributions, and basis vectors and gain vectors of NMF are modeled as Gamma distributions. Temporal continuity of the gain vector is known to be critical to the quality of enhanced speech signals. In this paper, temporal continiuty is implemented by adopting Gamma-Markov chain priors for noise gain vectors during the separation phase. Simulation results show that the Gamma-Markov chain models temporal continuity of noise signals and track changes in noise effectively.

In this paper, the gain scheduled state feedback and disturbance feedforward control design proposed in the previous paper has been applied to a simple matching system and a turret stabilization system. In such systems, it is needed to attenuate disturbance response effectively as long as control input satisfies the given constraint on its magnitude. The scheduled control gains are derived in the framework of linear matrix inequality(LMI) optimization by means of the MatLab toolbox. Its effectiveness is verified along with the simulation results compared with the conventional optimum constant gain control and the scheduled state feedback control cases.

A general linearly constrained narrowband adaptive array is examined in the eigenvector space. The optimum weight vector in the eigenvector space is shown to have the same performance as in the standard coordinate system, except that the input signal correlation matrix and look direction steering vector are replaced with the eigenvalue matrix and transformed steering vector. It is observed that the variation in gain factor results in the variation in the distance between the constraint plane and the origin in the translated weight vector space such that the increase in gain factor decreased the distance from the constraint plane to the origin, thus affecting the nulling performance. Simulation results showed that the general linearly constrained adaptive array performed better at an optimal gain factor compared with the conventional linearly constrained adaptive array in a coherent signal environment and the former showed similar performance as the latter in a noncoherent signal environment.

Existing adaptive observers may cause the parameter drifts due to disturbances even if state estimation errors remain small. To avoid the drift phenomena in the presence of bounded disturbances, several robust adaptive observers have been introduced addressing bounds in state and parameter estimates. However, it is not easy for these observers to manipulate the size of the bounds with the selection of the observer gain. In order to reduce estimation errors, this paper introduces the (equation omitted) gain minimization problem in the adaptive observer structure, which minimizes the (equation omitted) gain between disturbances and estimation errors. The stability condition of the adaptive observer is reformulated as a linear matrix inequality, and the observer gain is optimally chosen by solving the convex optimization problem. The estimation performance is demonstrated through a numerical example.

In this paper, the well-conditioned observer is designed to be insensitive to the ill-conditioning factors in transient and steady-state observer performance. A condition number based on 12-norm of the eigenvector matrix of the observer matrix has been proposed on a principal index in the observer performance. For the well-conditioned observer design, the non-normality measure and the observability condition of the observer matrix are utilized. The two constraints are specified into observer gain boundary region that guarantees a small condition number and a stable observer. The observer gain selected in this region guarantees a well-conditioned and observable property. In this study, this method is applied to the Luenberger observer and Kalman filters for small order systems. In designing Kalman filters, the ratio of the process noise covariance to the measurement noise covariance is a design parameter and its effect on the condition number is investigated.

The well-conditioned observer in a stochastic system is designed so that the observer is less sensitive to the ill-conditioning factors in transient and steady-state observer performance. These factors include not only deterministic issues such as unknown initial estimation error, round-off error, modeling error and sensing bias, but also stochastic issues such as disturbance and sensor noise. In deterministic perspectives, a small value in the L$_2$ norm condition number of the observer eigenvector matrix guarantees robust estimation performance to the deterministic issues and its upper bound can be minimized by reducing the observer gain and increasing the decay rate. Both deterministic and stochastic issues are considered as a weighted sum with a LMI (Linear Matrix Inequality) formulation. The gain in the well-conditioned observer is optimally chosen by the optimization technique. Simulation examples are given to evaluate the estimation performance of the proposed observer.
