  • The GTO model is based on the Ebers-Moll equation extened to include the three-junction devices and a detailed description of the implementation of the model equation as well as defferent tests are discussed. Problems to be considered for the snubber design, such as voltage spike reduction, maximum GTO anode current, and switching power, were discussed using the calculation model. The macro model is very useful for simulation of GTO circuit and high power circuit switch in high frequency and complex structure.

  • GEO-KOMPSAT-2 which is under development by KARI to be launched in 2018 is expected to be injected into its orbit through the standard GTO(Geostationary Transfer Orbit) or SSTO(Supersynchronous Transfer Orbit). While the standard GTO mission has been applied for the most of the geostationary satellites, the SSTO mission is rare case and significantly different from the standard GTO mission in technical point of view. This paper lists the operational constraints to be applied for GEO-KOMPSAT-2 SSTO mission, and introduces a preliminary LAE burn plan for GEO-KOMPSAT-2 mission. In order to evaluate the developed plan, a simulation study has been performed considering ground station visibility.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of vibration on Golgi tendon organ(GTO) and Hold-Relax of PNF in muscular activity and gait factors on Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness(DOMS). This study was conducted on 20 subjects. they were divided into two groups; Hold-Relax of PNF(n=10), Vibration on GTO(n=10). Both of the group was performed interventions 1 times a day for 3 days. The data was analyzed by the repeated-ANOVA for comparing before, after 24h and after 48h changes of factors in each group and the Independent t-test for comparing the between groups. The results are as follows. There was statistically significant difference of before, after 24h and after 48h vibration on GTO group and Hold-Relax of PNF group in muscular activity and gait factors on DOMS.(p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference of between vibration on GTO group, but there was statistically significant difference Hold-Relax of PNF group in EMG, step width, step length, stride length(p>0.05). As a results of this study, Hold-Relax of PNF group are effective in improving muscular activity and gait factors.

  • This paper describes several PWM method for harmonics reduction in GTO inverter. The analysis and simulations of PWM techniques are carried out. The simulation results demonstrate that the programmed PWM methods(SHE PWM) are superior to the sine-modulated PWM method. The selected harmonic elimination (SHE) PWM scheme which eliminates specific lower order harmonics can generate high quality output waveform in PWM inverter.

  • This paper discusses a triple stage current source GTO inverter system for high power motor drives. The energy rebound circuit of the triple stage inverter not only controls the spike voltage of the GTO inverter but also facilitates PWM control of the thyristor rectifier operated at unity fundamental input power factor. Based on Pspice simulation and experiments, the principles and PWM pulse pattern for removing specific lower harmonics in the inverter's output current are discussed in detail.

  • In the case of synchronous machines, certain power system disturbances cause current to assume negative values when no static converter is present. But the converter prevents negative current from flowing, so that overvoltages occur. The overvoltages can be effectively limited as crowbar circuit using GTO. The crowbar circuit with current limiting resistor absorbs energy when overvoltage comes from power system repeatedly. The newly proposed circuit is verified through simulation and experiment

  • In order to develop the three phase GTO CSI with double recovery path of commutation energy by passive devices (LCD), we studied the clamping circuit to protect switching device and energy recovery circuit to recover absorbed energy of capacitor and DC inductor. In this paper, we investigated how DC input power is increased or decreased according to energy recovery path with or not in the three phase GTO current source inverter, we used a induction motor as inverter load, and controlled a induction motor with v/f constant control. Experimental results show that dissipated DC power is decreased in $9{\sim}14%$ by double recovery path. We also confirmed that the characteristics is met as compare simulation results with experimental results according to each frequency.
