The Effect of Sport Drink Ingestion on the Physical Fatigue Level and Heart Rate during Prolonged Exposure in Hot Ambient Temperature in Professional Golfers (장시간 고온 환경 노출시 수분의 섭취가 프로골프선수들의 신체피로도 및 심박수에 미치는 영향)

  • We investigated the effects of prolonged exposure in hot environmental condition and ingestion of fluid on various physiological variables including plasma glucose, lactate, the rating of perceived exertion (RPE), and heart rate as well as golf putting performance. Six male professional golfers were voluntarily participated in three different putting trials which were separated by seven days of time interval period. Three different putting trials were conducted at either 20℃ or 32℃, or 32℃ + Fluid ingestion. Performing 32℃ + Fluid ingestion trial, all subject ingested sport drink as much as their body mass was decreased. For each experiment, all subjects were undertaken total 48 putting, which separated by four x 12 putting in four different time points (i.e., Rest, 1 hr, 2 hr, and 3 hr). Plasma glucose concentration was significantly decreased with hot ambient condition but it was almost fully recovered by fluid ingestion. Plasma lactate concentration was significantly higher when subjects were exposed in hot environmental condition, and it did not change with fluid ingestion. There was a no different in putting performance and psychological fatigue level (performed by GRID test) at any environmental conditions. The RPE, commonly used for evaluating of physical fatigue level, was significantly dropped by fluid ingestion which indicates lower physical fatigue level. In addition to this, heart rate (HR) was also significantly decreased after fluid ingestion. Based on these results, it was concluded that the ingestion of fluid during prolonged exposure in hot ambient condition decrease the degree of physical fatigue levels and heart rate, which will possibly improve the golf performance when exposed in extreme weather condition in summer. Analysis of golf putting for Elite & Novice golfers Using Jerk Cost Function (저크비용함수를 이용한 골프 숙련자와 초보자간의 퍼팅 동작 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify critical parameters of a putting performance using jerk cost function. Jerk is the time rate of change of acceleration and it has been suggested that a skilled performance is characterized by decreased jerk magnitude. Four elite golfers($handicap{\leq}2$) and 4 novice golfers participated in this study for the comparison. The 3D kinematic data were collected for each subject performing 5 trials of putts for each of these distances (random order): 1m, 3m, 5m The putting stroke was divided into 3 phases such as back swing. down swing and follow-through. In this study, it was assumed that there exist smoothness difference between elite and novice golfers during putting. The distance and jerk-cost function of Putting stroke for each phase were analyzed Results showed that there was a significant difference in jerk cost function at putter toe (at media-lateral direction) and at the center of mass between two groups by increasing putting distance. From these it could be concluded that jerk can be used as a kinematic parameter for distinguishing elite and novice golfers.

X-Putt : A Golf Putting Training System based on Ultrasonic sensors (X-Putt : 초음파 센서 기반의 골프 퍼팅 훈련 시스템 설계와 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose a new golf putting training system which we call "X-Putt". X-Putt analyzes putting strokes by measuring putter face angle and path. To do this, we improved the sonar-based localization scheme used by previous localization techniques. As a result, X-Putt can measure putter's location within the error range, ${\pm}0.9cm$ and putter face angle within ${\pm}1.5^{\circ}$. Additionally, we built an user application that has an easy-to-use interface for analyzing the strokes after training.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze correlation between kinematic variables and ground slope perception ability during golf putting. 16 collegiate golfers were participated. To collect and analyze the kinematic data of putter head, SAMPutt lab was used(70 Hz). It was performed Pearson's correlation analysis using SPSS. The level of significance was at .05. As a results, right was correlated with backswing in flat. Toe-up was correlated with follow-through and left was correlated with aim, backswing, impact, follow-through, and loft in slice 1°. Toe-down was correlated with aim, backswing, impact in slice 2°. Toe-up was correlated with follow-through in hook 2°. In conclusion, it is important to improve the putting stroke through repetitive ground slope perception training.

  • In the study the subjects who 10 university golfers act, and the kinetic factors were analyzed by the ground reaction system. the conclusion are as follows. 1) In the golf putting swing, the ground reaction factors of sagital plane in aspect are showen that the left and right foot sufficient difference, in the level of p <.05. 2) In the golf putting swing, the ground reaction factors of frontal plane in aspect is showen that the left foot has no significant difference in AD BS in the level of p < .05. In success, IP, FS. It can show significant difference. In addition, the right foot is shown the success, There is significant difference. 3) In the golf putting swing, the ground reaction factors of the vertical plane in aspect are shown that the left foot has no significant difference in BS, FS in the level p < .05. In success, AD, IP. It can show significant difference. In addition, the right foot is shown the success, There is significant difference. 4) In the golf putting swing, the ground reaction factors of torque in aspect are shown that the left foot had no significant difference in BS in the level p < .05. In success, AD, IP, FS. It can show significant difference. In addition, the right foot has no significant difference in IP in the level p < .05. AD, BS, FS. There is significant difference. The summarized conclusions are as follows. The first that the power of sagital plane needs the motion which can get the good power change in the stabilized pose. The second is that the small motion can make good putting in stabilized pose. The third is that the body weight move to the direction of the ball. The fourth is that the putting which looks perfect oscillation is good motion.

  • Recently, IoT researches using sensor data based on embedded networks in various fields including healthcare and sports have been continuously attempted. This study analyzes golf ball mobility to support IoT application in golf sports field. Generally, since the difference in density occurs due to the condition of the inner material and the abnormal state at the time of the outer skin joining during the manufacturing of the golf ball, the weight of each subset is equal for any two points with the same radius in the sphere cannot be guaranteed. For this reason, the deflected weight of the sphere has the undesirable effect of hitting the ball in a direction in which the weight of the ball is heavy. In this study, it is assumed that there is a unique center of gravity of the ball, and even if the golf ball cannot be manufactured perfectly, it wants to establish the basic principle to accurately recognize or mark the putting line based on the center of gravity. In addition, it is evaluated how the mobility of the golf ball with a deviation from the center of gravity of the golf ball affects the progress path (or movement direction) and the moving distance (or carry distance) after the golfer hits. The basic model of the mobility of the golf ball can help the golfer exercise model and the correlation analysis.   • As a preliminary study of finding the relationship between the force at the grip and the success rate during putting stroke, the putting grip sensor system using FSR sensors was developed. The system consisted of the hardware which had the sensor part with 8 sensors per putting glove and data acquisition part as well as the software which had the real-time monitoring program and the offline post-processing program. After experiments with elite-golfer using this system, it is possible to suggest the proper force ranges at the grip during putting stroke.

Control Effect on Dollar Spot Disease Caused by Sclerotinia homoeocarpa under Different Application Rates and Intervals with Two Mixed Fungicides (혼용된 2종의 살균제 살포 농도 및 간격에 따른 잔디 동전마름병 방제효과)

  • Dollar spot caused by Sclerotinia homoeocarpa F.T. Benn. is a common and economically important turfgrass disease in South Korea. Fungicides mixture (propiconazole 25% + boscalid 47%) treatments, showing synergistic interaction, with three application rates (low: 50.3 ml $10a^{-1}$ and 97.5 g $10a^{-1}$, intermediate: 67.0 ml $10a^{-1}$ and 130.0 g $10a^{-1}$, and high: 100.5 ml $10a^{-1}$ and 195.0 g $10a^{-1}$) and two application intervals (10 and 15 days) were evaluated for control of dollar spot in creeping bentgrass golf course putting green. In both nontreated plots of field A and B, the disease has severed as 48.3 and 60.0% after the pathogen inoculation. Two fungicide mixture treatments showed significantly higher the disease control effect than a single fungicide treatment (propiconazole). Field A which showed more the disease severity but the fungicide still showed acceptable level of the disease efficacy (89.0%), significant differences in control value were not detected among treatments. The results suggest that the lower application rate of two fungicides mixture treatments may reduce the dollar spot disease severity in creeping bentgrass golf course putting green.

Effectiveness of golf skills to average score in PGA (PGA 선수의 경기능력이 평균타수에 미치는 영향력)

  • This study is for effectiveness of golf skills to average score using path analysis in Professional golf association. The variables in this study were that seven independent variable were driving accuracy, green in regulation, driving distance, sand save ratio, scrambling, putting average, and two endogenous variables were birdie average, bogey average, and dependent variable was the scoring average. To analyze these variables, path analysis was used through AMOS 18.0 program and Alpha level sets at.05. As the result, the final model had significant goodness-of-fit (GFI=.989, RMSEA=.044, TLI=.991, CFI=.998) and showed that green in regulation, driving distance, sand save ratio, scrambling, and putting average significantly affected average score directly. Especially, the scrambling was the highest affectation to average score and the sand save ratio was the lowest affectation to the average score.

  • The purpose of this study was development and evaluation of putting training system with specialized guides which were adjustable its width and changeable its distance from the ball. The system hardwares that used in this study were made by LEGO NXT and Tetrix set. The system software was made by LabVIEW ver. 2010. The subjects were organized in non-experts(10persons) and KPGA(5persons) players. The putting training schedule was composed of 10 sets and each sets were identically same, which were organized in 4 different width of its guide at 3 different distance from the ball hitting spot, 3 repetition each. The speed/acceleration in wrist area and movement in head area were both reduced by the putting training. Most of testees submitted positive comments in aspect of concentration and motivation. This training method which had changeable width and distance will be able to adapt easily to another sports for the handicapped and the elderly such as ParkGolf or Gateball.
