An Analysis on the Charge Distribution on the Spacer Using Dust Figure (Dust Figure를 이용한 스페이서상의 대전전하 분포해석)

  • Unlike AC, DC dielectric characteristics of the spacer are very influenced by the quantity and the distribution of surface charges. A general impression of the distribution of surface charges is obtained if electrostatic powders are sprinkled over the surface. The distribution of surface charge was investigated with dust figures. Mechanism of charge accumulation on the spacer of $SF_6$ GIS has been studied using various types of model spacers which have different depths. As a result, it was found that charge accumulation was dominantly influenced by the normal component of the electric field and the usage of embedded electrodes was an adequate method to lessen field concentration around the triple junction. The guide of the optimum depth of the spacer was proposed.

Characteristics of AC Treeing for Three Epoxy Resins for High Voltage Heavy Electric Machine Appliances (고전압 중전기기용 에폭시 수지 3종에 대한 교류트리잉 파괴특성)

  • In this paper, the reliability test of three kinds of epoxy resin for GIS Spacer, which is a high voltage based heavy electric machine, AC electrical treeing experiments were performed. Three types of epoxy resins, Araldite B41, CT 5531 CI and B46, have slight viscosity differences. An non-uniform electric field, E = 1149.4 kV/mm, as the needle to plate electrode, a power source with a frequency of 1 kHz was applied to the tree electrode for accelerated deterioration. The treeing phenomena of the three kinds of epoxy resin all initiated, propagated, and destroyed by the branch tree. Epoxy Resin B46 was 145 times longer than B41 and 53 times longer than CT 5531CI. I think that the choice of epoxy resin is very important in choosing high voltage heavy electric machine insulation materials.

Mechanical Properties of Epoxy Alumina Multi-Composites (에폭시 알루미나 멀티-콤포지트의 기계적 특성연구)

  • In order to develop an electrical insulation material for gas GIS (insulation switch gear) spacer, 4 types of epoxy/micro-alumina (40, 50, 60, 70 wt%) composites and 9 types of epoxy/nano-alumina (1, 3, 5 g)/micro-alumina (40, 50, 60, 70 wt%) composites were prepared and tensile test was carried out. In here, nano-alumina was previously surface-treated with GDE (glycerol diglycidyl ether). As micro-alumina and GDE-treated nano-alumina contents increased, tensile strength increased and the highest value was shown in the system with 3 g GDE-treated nano-alumina.

  • UHF method is very effective to diagnosis for partial discharge of GIS. In generally, inner UHF sensor can be attached on sheath cover of GIS under construction for periodic inspection. However, there is no inner UHF sensor for GIS of the domestic substation. We used the outer UHF sensor attached on spacer for GIS of existing substation. In this paper, we report the diagnosis result of partial discharge on 800kV GIS in domestic substation. From these results, we can find the quantity, reason and location of PD and certificate the performance of UHF method for partial discharge diagnosis of GIS.

  • The gas insulation switchgear, which is a device for protecting a power system, cannot be supported by the insulation gas itself in a charge unit stored in a metal container. Therefore, molding technology is required to manufacture a gas insulation switch spacer. The APG method injection molding simulation was performed by applying the variables obtained through the physical properties of an epoxy composite used for manufacturing an insulating spacer to a moldflow software. After varying the temperature conditions of heater in the simulation, the thermal characteristics and the degree of hardening of the spacer were analyzed, based on which the optimum process conditions are presented.

  • Epoxy Insualtion spacers for supporting the conductors and partitioning the sections in $SF_6$ Gas insulated Switchgear(GIS), require higher electrical, Thermal and mechanical reliability with other principal components in GIS to be operated without any failure in use. In this paper, we describe the results of the performance evaluation of electrical and mechanical properties for extra high-voltage GIS according to KEPCO spec. and the requirements of the insulators for GIS specified by IEC 62271-203(2004).

  • The spacer is solid insulator which supports main conductor in GIS and seperates gas area. The 800kV spacer was designed and manufactured considering the results of electrical and structural analysis using commercial package MSC/NASTRAN. Temperature test and water pressure test were carries out, and the results from water pressure test were compared with the calculated ones from MSC/NSATRAN.

  • 본 논문에서는 초고압 가스절연개폐장치(GIS, Gas Insulated Switchgear) 내 고체 절연물인 스페이서에서 삼중점의 전계를 완화하기 위한 쉴드링 설계 방법과 그에 따른 효과를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 420kV GIS 스페이서를 축대칭 모델로 단순화하여 전계해석을 수행하였으며, 쉴드링 직경에 따른 삼중점 전계세기 변화를 확인하였다. 또한 쉴드링과 스페이서 계면 사이의 최소 이격거리를 계산하여 쉴드링의 최적 직경을 구하였다. 추가적으로, 새로운 설계 기법인 Double 쉴드링 기법을 소개하고 기존의 쉴드링이 하나인 경우와 비교 분석하여 그 효과를 확인하였다.

  • The breakdown was caused by particle in GIS and various methode was suggested to find particle in GIS. In this paper, four states of particle was imitated which are particle on electrode, particle on enclosure, particle on spacer and crossing particle. The discharge voltage of each states was classified by four voltages which are initial, development, later and close discharge voltage. $\Phi$-Q-N pattern was analyzed according to the states and to the discharge voltages. In the result, the electrical discharge pattern according to the particle states may be distinguished.

  • An ultra high frequency (UHF) coupler possessing ultra wide band (UWB) characteristics ranging from hundreds of MHz to several GHz is desirable for the detection of the partial discharge (PD) pulses because the pulses propagate with rise time shorter than one nanosecond in a gas-insulated substation (GIS). Thus, the authors have proposed a log-periodic antenna for GIS PD detection. Various parameters of the coupler such as frequency bandwidth, coupler gain, radiation pattern, and coupler geometry were considered throughout the simulations. The experiments for the detection characteristics of the coupler were carried out in the mock-up GIS chamber. The results indicated that the detection characteristics of the coupler are dependent on the installation angle of the coupler, the position of the coupler in the hand hole and the existence of the spacer.
