  • The permeability vs. temperature curve, the loss factor and the microstructure of a commercial Mn-Zn ferrites were investigated by X-ray diffractometer, SEM and LCR meter, where the additives, such as $SnO_{2}$ and $GeO_{2}$, were added to the main composition. Their wt% were 0.05, 0.3 and 1.0, respectively. When the content of additives increased, the SPM (Secondary Peak Maximum) of the permeability moved from $80^{\circ}C$ to below the room temperature. This movement, without the significant change of the microstructure, is because Sn and Ge, having the different ionic radius, were soluble in the matrix. There was no variation of the permeability with the frequency up to 100 kHz. And the loss factor showed the maximum value at 10 kHz.

  • The concepts of *-relation of a ($\Gamma$-)semigroup and $\bar{\Gamma}$-adequate transversal of a ($\Gamma$-)abundant semigroup are defined in this note. Then we develop a matrix type theory for abundant semigroups. We give some equivalent conditions of a Rees matrix semigroup being abundant and some equivalent conditions of an abundant Rees matrix semigroup having an adequate transversal. Then we obtain some Rees matrix representations for abundant semigroups with adequate transversals by the above theories.

  • In this work, effects of carbon matrix on sliding friction and wear behavior of four kinds of C/C have been investigated against 40 Cr steel ring mate. Composite A with rough lamination carbon matrix (RL) shows the highest volume loss and coefficient of friction, while composite D with smooth lamination/resin carbon matrix (SL/RC) shows the lowest volume loss. The worn surface of composite A appears smooth, whereas that of composite C with smooth lamination carbon (SL) appears rough. The worn surface of composite D appears smooth under low load but rough under high load. Atomic force microscope images show that the size of wear particles on the worn surface is also dependent on the carbon matrix.

  • This paper proposes a synergism of neural networks (NN) and knowledge-based decision support system (KBDSS) to effectively design an intelligent strategic planning system. Since conventional KBDSS becomes inoperative partially or totally when problem deviates slightly from the expected problem-domain, a new DSS concept is needed for designing an effective strategic planning system, where strategic planning environment is usually turbulent and consistently changing. In line with this idea, this paper developes a NN-based DSS, named ConDSS, incorporating the generalization property of NN into its knowledge base. The proposed ConDSS was extensively operated in an experimentally designed environment with three models: BCG matrix, Growth/Gain matrix, and GE matrix. The results proved very promising when encountered with unforeseen situations in comparisons with conventional KBDSS.

  • This paper examines the relative competitive position of korean forest products market over period of 1999 to 2003 and selects strategic exported goods from its position provide against concluding FTA agreement with China, Japan and ASEAN. The portfolio approach is used to develope competitiveness-market share matrix. The position of major export countries on the competitiveness-market share matrix will be in one of nine cells, with differing implications for their role in korean forest products market. Based the competitiveness-market share matrix, Major export countries are divided into first cell type, third cell type and ninth cell type and the items of ninth cell type are chosen as strategic exportable goods.

  • For a Hilbert space H, let L(H) denote the algebra of all bounded operators on H. For an $n \in N$, it is well known that any element $T \in L(\oplus^n H)$ is expressed as an $n \times n$ matrix each of whose entries lies in L(H) so that T is written as $$ (1) T = (T_{ij}), i, j = 1, 2, ..., n, T_{ij} \in L(H), $$ where $\oplus^n H$ is the direct sum Hilbert space of n copies of H.

  • A modified ABS algorithm for solving a class of singular non-linear systems, $F(x) = 0, $F\;\in \;R^n$, constructed by combining the discreted ABS algorithm and a method of Hoy and Schwetlick (1990), is presented. The second differential operation of F at a point is not required to be calculated directly in this algorithm. Q-quadratic convergence of this algorithm is given.

  • The bimodal distribution of CuCl nano-crystals precipitated in alumino-borosilicate glass matrix (30SiO2-45B2O3-7.5Al2O3-7.5Na2O-7.5CaO-2.5GeO2(mole %)) was investigated by TEM and the temperature dependent optical spectroscopy. Two types of CuCl particles with different size were observed by TEM and it was confirmed by the splitting of Z3 absorption peak at low temperature and the occurrence of deflection point in the optical spectra with temperature.
