  • In this paper, a fuzzy generalized predictive control (FGPC) for non-linear plants is proposed. In the proposed method, the receding horizon control is applied to the control part, while fuzzy systems are used for the predictor part. It is suggested that the fuzzy predictor is time-varying affine with respect to input variables for easy computation of control inputs. Since the receding horizon control can be obtained only with a predictor instead of a plant model, the fuzzy predictor is obtained directly from input-output data without identifying a plant model. A parameter estimation algorithm is used for identifying the fuzzy predictor. The control inputs of the FGPC are computed by minimizing a receding horizon cost function with predicted plant outputs. The proposed controller has a similar architecture to the generalized predictive control (GPC) except for the predictor synthesis method, and thus may possess inherent good properties of the GPC. Computer simulations show that the performance of the FGPC is satisfactory.

  • In this paper, we propose an improved reduction model and a reduction model-based hybrid smith-predictor fuzzy controller. The transient and steady-state responsed of the reduction model was evaluated. In tuning the controller, the parameters of PID and the factors fuzzy controllers were obtained from the reduced model and by using genetic algorithms, respectively. Simulation examples demonstrated a better performance of the proposed controller than conventional ones.

  • For efficient operating strategy of electric power system, forecasting of daily peak electric load is an important but difficult problem. Therefore a daily peak electric load forecasting system using a neural network and fuzzy system is presented in this paper. First, original peak load data is interpolated in order to overcome the shortage of data for effective prediction. Next, the prediction of peak load using these interpolated data as input is performed in parallel by a neural network predictor and a fuzzy predictor. The neural network predictor shows better performance at drastic change of peak load, while the fuzzy predictor yields better prediction results in gradual changes. Finally, the superior one of two predictors is selected by the rules based on rough sets at every prediction time. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, the computer simulation is performed on peak load data in 2015 provided by KPX.

  • In general, non-stationary or chaos time series forecasting is very difficult since there exists a drift and/or nonlinearities in them. To overcome this situation, we suggest a new prediction method based on multiple model TS fuzzy predictors combined with preprocessing of time series data, where, instead of time series data, the differences of them are applied to predictors as input. In preprocessing procedure, the candidates of optimal difference interval are determined by using con-elation analysis and corresponding difference data are generated. And then, for each of them, TS fuzzy predictor is constructed by using k-means clustering algorithm and least squares method. Finally, the best predictor which minimizes the performance index is selected and it works on hereafter for prediction. Computer simulation is performed to show the effectiveness and usefulness of our method.

  • This paper presents a new short-term load forecasting system using data mining. Since the electric load has very different pattern according to the day, it definitely gives rise to the forecasting error if only one forecasting model is used. Thus, to resolve this problem, the fuzzy model-based classifier and predictor are proposed for the forecasting of the hourly electric load. The proposed classifier is the multi-input and multi-output fuzzy system of which the consequent part is composed of the Bayesian classifier. The proposed classifier attempts to categorize the input electric load into Monday, Tuesday$\sim$Friday, Saturday, and Sunday electric load, Then, we construct the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model-based predictor for each class. The parameter identification problem is converted into the generalized eigenvalue problem (GEVP) by formulating the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, to show the feasibility of the proposed method, this paper provides the short-term load forecasting example.

  • In this paper, we proposed development of improved model reduction and design of hierarchical controller using reduction model. The model reduction is considered that it is the transient response and the steady-state response through the use of nyquist curve. The hierarchical controller selected tuning of PID controller to ensure specified gain and phase margin and hybrid smith-predictor fuzzy controller using reduction model. Simulation examples are given to show the better performance of the proposed method than conventional methods.

  • A fuzzy driver model based on a preview-predictor and yaw rate is developed. The model is used to investigate the handling performance of two wheel steering system(2WS) and four wheel steering system(4WS) vehicles. The two degree-of- freedom model which has yaw and lateral motion predicts the path of the vehicles. Based upon the yaw rate and lateral deviations, the fuzzy engine describes the human driver's complicated control behavior which is adjusted for the driving environment. Both typical single lane change maneuver and double lane change maneuver are adopted to demonstrate the feasibility of fuzzy driver model.

  • In the case of traditional binary encoding technique, it takes long time to converge the optimal solutions and brings about complexity of the systems due to encoding and decoding procedures. However, the ROGAs (real-coded genetic algorithms) do not require these procedures, and the k-means clustering algorithm can avoid global searching space. Thus, this paper proposes a new approach by using their advantages. The proposed method constructs the multiple predictors using the optimal differences that can reveal the patterns better and properties concealed in non-stationary time series where the k-means clustering algorithm is used for data classification to each predictor, then selects the best predictor. After selecting the best predictor, the cluster centers of the predictor are tuned finely via RCGKA in secondary tuning procedure. Therefore, performance of the predictor can be more enhanced. Finally, we verifies the prediction performance of the proposed system via simulating typical time series examples.

  • In this paper, we proposed the cell multiplexer using Hopfield neural network and the bandwidth predictor using the backpropagation neural network in order to make an accurate call setup decision. The cell multiplexer controls heterogeneous traffic and the bandwidth predictor estimates minimum bandwidth which satisfies traffic's QoS and maximizes throughput in network. Also, a novel connection admission controller decides on connection setup using the predicted bandwidth from bandwidth predictor and available bandwidth in networks. And then, we proposed a fuzzy traffic policer, when traffic sources violate the contract, takes an appropriate action and aim proved traffic shaper, which controls burstness which is one of key characteristics in multimedia traffic. We simulated the proposed controller. Simulation results show that the proposed controller outperforms existing controller.

  • This paper addresses the structure and its associated learning algorithms of a feedforward multi-layered connectionist network, which has distributed learning abilities, for realizing the basic elements and functions of a traditional fuzzy logic controller. The proposed neural-network-based fuzzy logic control system (NN-FLCS) can be contrasted with the traditional fuzzy logic control system in their network structure and learning ability. An on-line supervised structure/parameter learning algorithm dynamic learning algorithm can find proper fuzzy logic rules, membership functions, and the size of output fuzzy partitions simultaneously. Next, a Reinforcement Neural-Network-Based Fuzzy Logic Control System (RNN-FLCS) is proposed which consists of two closely integrated Neural-Network-Based Fuzzy Logic Controllers (NN-FLCS) for solving various reinforcement learning problems in fuzzy logic systems. One NN-FLC functions as a fuzzy predictor and the other as a fuzzy controller. As ociated with the proposed RNN-FLCS is the reinforcement structure/parameter learning algorithm which dynamically determines the proper network size, connections, and parameters of the RNN-FLCS through an external reinforcement signal. Furthermore, learning can proceed even in the period without any external reinforcement feedback.
