퍼지 로직 시스템을 이용한 항공기 가스터빈 엔진 오류 검출에 대한 연구 (Fault Diagnosis in Gas Turbine Engine Using Fuzzy Inference Logic)

  • A fuzzy inference logic system is proposed for gas turbine engine fault isolation. The gas path measurements used for fault isolation are exhaust gas temperature, low and high rotor speed, and fuel flow. The fuzzy inference logic uses rules developed from a model of performance influence coefficients to isolate engine faults while accounting for uncertainty in gas path measurements. Inputs to the fuzzy inference logic system are measurement deviations of gas path parameters which are transferred directly from the ECM(Engine Control Monitoring) program and outputs are engine module faults. The proposed fuzzy inference logic system is tested using simulated data developed from the ECM trend plot reports and the results show that the proposed fuzzy inference logic system isolates module faults with high accuracy rate in the environment of high level of uncertainty.

Fuzzy Petri Nets를 이용한 퍼지 추론 시스템의 모델링 및 추론기관의 구현 (A Model with an Inference Engine for a Fuzzy Production System Using Fuzzy Petri Nets)

  • As a general model of rule-based systems, we propose a model for a fuzzy production system having chaining rules and an inference engine associated with the model. The concept of so-called 'fuzzy petri nets' is used to model the fuzzy production system and the inference engine is designed to be capable of handling inexact knowledge. The fuzzy logic is adopted to represent vagueness in the rules and the certainty factor is used to express uncertainty of each rules given by a human expert. Parallel, inference schemes are devised by transforming Fuzzy Petri nets to matrix formula. Futher, the inference engine mechanism under the Mamdani's implication method can be desceribed by a simple algebraic formula, which makes real time inference possible.

Self-Evolving Expert Systems based on Fuzzy Neural Network and RDB Inference Engine

  • In this research, we propose the mechanism to develop self-evolving expert systems (SEES) based on data mining (DM), fuzzy neural networks (FNN), and relational database (RDB)-driven forward/backward inference engine. Most researchers had tried to develop a text-oriented knowledge base (KB) and inference engine (IE). However, this approach had some limitations such as 1) automatic rule extraction, 2) manipulation of ambiguousness in knowledge, 3) expandability of knowledge base, and 4) speed of inference. To overcome these limitations, knowledge engineers had tried to develop an automatic knowledge extraction mechanism. As a result, the adaptability of the expert systems was improved. Nonetheless, they didn't suggest a hybrid and generalized solution to develop self-evolving expert systems. To this purpose, we propose an automatic knowledge acquisition and composite inference mechanism based on DM, FNN, and RDB-driven inference engine. Our proposed mechanism has five advantages. First, it can extract and reduce the specific domain knowledge from incomplete database by using data mining technology. Second, our proposed mechanism can manipulate the ambiguousness in knowledge by using fuzzy membership functions. Third, it can construct the relational knowledge base and expand the knowledge base unlimitedly with RDBMS (relational database management systems) module. Fourth, our proposed hybrid data mining mechanism can reflect both association rule-based logical inference and complicate fuzzy relationships. Fifth, RDB-driven forward and backward inference time is shorter than the traditional text-oriented inference time.

  • The shape and width of fuzzy membership function has an effect on performance of fuzzy controller. In this paper, fuzzy controller is proposed to improve the control performance of fuzzy controller. It has two fuzzy inference engine. The one is typical fuzzy inference engine, the other is proposed to infer optimal width of membership function in fuzzy controller from plant constant (K,T,L). To show the effectiveness of this fuzzy controller with double fuzzy inference engine, it is applied to plant (dead time + 1st order delay) with various plant constant.

  • This paper presents hardware scheme of fuzzy inference engine, based on α-level set decomposition of fuzzy sets for fuzzy control of DC servo system. We propose a method which is directly converted to PWM actuating signal by a one body of fuzzy inference and defuzzification. The influence of quantity α-levels on input/output characteristics of fuzzy controller and output response of DC servo system is investigated. It is concluded that quantity α-cut 4 give a sufficient result for fuzzy control performance of DC servo system. The experimental results shows that the proposed hardware method is effective for practical applications of DC servo system.

Data Mining and FNN-Driven Knowledge Acquisition and Inference Mechanism for Developing A Self-Evolving Expert Systems

  • This paper proposes adaptive impedance control algorithm using fuzzy inference when robot contacts with its environments. The characteristics of the adaptive impedance controller is to adapt with parametric uncertainty and nonlinear conditions. The control algorithm is to join impedance controller with fuzzy inference engine. The proposed control method overcomes the problem of impedance controller using gain-tuning algorithm of fuzzy inference engine. We implemented an experimental set-up consisting of environment-generated one-link robot system and DSP system for controller development. We apply the adaptive fuzzy impedance controller to one-link root system, and it shows the good performance on regulating the interactive force in case of contacting with arbitrary environment.

  • In general many engineers can diagnose the fault condition using the abnormal ones among data monitored from a diesel engine, but they don't need the system modelling or identification for the work. They check the abnormal data and the relationship and then catch the fault condition of the engine. This paper proposes the construction of a fault diagnosis engine through malfunction data gained from the data fault detection system of neural networks for diesel generator engine, and the rule inference method to induce the rule for fuzzy inference from the malfunction data of diesel engine like a site engineer with a fuzzy system. The proposed fault diagnosis system is constructed in the sense of the Malfunction Diagnosis Engine(MDE) and Hierarchy of Malfunction Hypotheses(HMH). The system is concerned with the rule reduction method of knowledge base for related data among the various interactive data.

  • In this paper we propose a turbojet engine controller based on fuzzy inference method. Fuel flow control input is designed by fuzzy inference in order to avoid surge and flame-out during acceleration and deceleration. Acceleration and deceleration demands are used as control commands, which can achieve effective performance without surge and flame-out.

  • This paper presents a method on applying Genetic Algorithm(GA), which is a well-known high performance optimizing algorithm, to construct the self-organizing fuzzy logic controller. Fuzzy logic controller considered in this paper utilizes Sugeno's hybrid inference method, which has an advantage of simple defuzzification process in the inference engine. Genetic algorithm is used to find the optimal parameters in the FLC. The proposed approach will be demonstrated using 2 d.o.f robot manipulator to verify its effectiveness.
