Fuzzy data is a phenomenon often occurring in real life. There is the inherent vagueness of classification terms referring to a continuous scale, the uncertainty of linguistic terms such as "I almost agree" or the vagueness of terms and concepts due to the statistical variability in communication [20] and many more. Previously, such fuzzy data was approximated by non-fuzzy (crisp) data, which obviously did not lead to a correct and precise representation of the real world. Fuzzy set theory has been developed to represent and manipulate fuzzy data [18]. Explicitly managing the degree of fuzziness in databases allows the system to distinguish between what is known, what is not known and what is partially known. Systems in the literature whose specific objective is to handle imprecision in databases present various approaches. This paper is concerned with the different ways uncertainty and imprecision are handled in database design. It outlines the major areas of fuzzification in (relational) database systems.

Fuzzy inference system which inferences and processes the Fuzzy information is designed using digital voltage mode neural circuits. The digital fuzzification circuit is designed to MIN,MAX circuit using CMOS neural comparator. A new defuzzification method which uses the center of area of the resultant fuzzy set as a defuzzified output is suggested. The method of the center of area(C. O. A) search for a crisp value which is correspond to a half of the area enclosed with inferenced membership function. The center of area defuzzification circuit is proposed. It is a simple circuit without divider and multiflier. The proposed circuits are verified by implementing with conventional digital chips.

Fuzzy membership functions are some kinds of mapping function for the fuzzification and the defuzzification. Triangle-shaped fuzzy membership functions are widely used in fuzzy controller, for it is easy to implement. In these membership functions, it is known that narrower fuzzy sets permit finer control near the operating point than that far from the operating point. $Supp{\acute{o}}se$ we have a membership function with narrower triangle near zero and wider triangle far from zero. The membership function will make fine control when small input is given and rough control at large input. Therefore the performance of the controller with that membership function will be enhanced. This paper presents how the width of triangle base in the fuzzy membership function has influence on the output using geometrical approaches.
Sources of nonlinearity In a fuzzy logic controller Include the fuzzification, the fuzzy reasoning and the defuzzification. In this paper, a closed form expression for the defuzzified output is derived in case of a fuzzy logic controller with two Inputs, triangular memberships, MacVicar-Whelan type linguistic rules, and direct fuzzy reasoning. As a result, it is shown that fuzzy logic controller is a nonlinear controller. Also its nonlinearity Is analyzed with respect to the conventional PID control and the sliding mode control.

In this study, it was developed and verified an application method of fuzzy-logic theory to the rating process of agricultural fill dam safety. A fuzzy-logic is very famous logical system when some decision making is made on the status of a lack of information. Three proxies were selected and configured membership functions (MFs) and these MFs were activated in the process of fuzzification procedures. Fuzzified vlaues were passed through the rule-based inference system, then fire strength could classified among cases of the rule-based inference system. To obtain final results, Mandani-type was adapted in the defuzzification process. As the results, it was shown the developed system can give a correct results that was compared with Matlab - fuzzy inference function. More ever it could perform the detailed analysis and improvement on the infrastructure safety rating process using classical diagnosis method.

In this study, Polynomial Network Pattern Classifier(PNC) based on Fuzzy Inference Mechanism is designed and its parameters such as learning rate, momentum coefficient and fuzzification coefficient are optimized by means of Particle Swarm Optimization. The proposed PNC employes a partition function created by Fuzzy C-means(FCM) clustering as an activation function in hidden layer and polynomials weights between hidden layer and output layer. Using polynomials weights can help to improve the characteristic of the linear classification of basic neural networks classifier. In the viewpoint of linguistic analysis, the proposed classifier is expressed as a collection of "If-then" fuzzy rules. Namely, architecture of networks is constructed by three functional modules that are condition part, conclusion part and inference part. The condition part relates to the partition function of input space using FCM clustering. In the conclusion part, a polynomial function caries out the presentation of a partitioned local space. Lastly, the output of networks is gotten by fuzzy inference in the inference part. The proposed PNC generates a nonlinear discernment function in the output space and has the better performance of pattern classification as a classifier, because of the characteristic of polynomial based fuzzy inference of PNC.
This paper introduces a multi-phase fuzzy risk graph model, representing a method for determining for SIL values for railway industry systems. The purpose of this paper is to compensate for the shortcomings of qualitative determination, which are associated with input value ambiguity and the subjectivity problem of expert judgement. The multi-phase fuzzy risk graph model has two phases. The first involves the determination of the conventional risk graph input values of the consequence, exposure, avoidance and demand rates using fuzzy theory. For the first step of fuzzification this paper proposes detailed input parameters. The fuzzy inference and the defuzzification results from the first step will be utilized as input parameters for the second step of the fuzzy model. The second step is to determine the safety integrity level and tolerable hazard rate corresponding to be identified hazard in the railway industry. To validate the results of the proposed the multi-phase fuzzy risk graph, it is compared with the results of a safety analysis of a level crossing system in the CENELEC SC 9XA WG A0 report. This model will be adapted for determining safety requirements at the early concept design stages in the railway business.
This paper introduces a risk graph which is one method for determining the SIL as a measure of the effectiveness of signaling system. The purpose of this research is to make up for the weakness of the qualitative determination, which has input value ambiguity and a boundary problem in the SIL range. The fuzzy input valuable consists of consequence, exposure, avoidance and demand rate. The fuzzy inference produces forty eight fuzzy rule by adapting the calibrated risk graph in the IEC 61511. The Max-min composition is utilized for the fuzzy inference. The result of the fuzzy inference is the fuzzy value. Therefore, using the de-fuzzification method, the result should be converted to a crisp value that can be utilized for real projects. Ultimately, the safety requirement for hazard is identified by proposing a SIL result with a tolerable hazard rate. For the validation the results of the proposed method, the fuzzy risk graph model is compared with the safety analysis of the signaling system in CENELEC SC 9XA WG A10 report.

In this paper, we propose the pattern classifier of Radial Basis Function Neural Networks(RBFNNs) for diagnosis of 3-phase partial discharge. Conventional methods map the partial discharge/noise data on 3-PARD map, and decide whether the partial discharge occurs or not from 3-phase or neutral point. However, it is decided based on his own subjective knowledge of skilled experter. In order to solve these problems, the mapping of data as well as the classification of phases are considered by using the general 3-PARD map and PA method, and the identification of phases occurring partial discharge/noise discharge is done. In the sequel, the type of partial discharge occurring on arbitrary random phase is classified and identified by fuzzy clustering-based polynomial Radial Basis Function Neural Networks(RBFNN) classifier. And by identifying the learning rate, momentum coefficient, and fuzzification coefficient of FCM fuzzy clustering with the aid of PSO algorithm, the RBFNN classifier is optimized. The virtual simulated data and the experimental data acquired from practical field are used for performance estimation of 3-phase partial discharge pattern classifier.

In this paper, with the aid of information which is included within data, preprocessing algorithm-based black plastic classifier is designed. The slope and area of spectrum obtained by using laser induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) are analyzed for each material and its ensuing information is applied as the input data of the proposed classifier. The slope is represented by the rate of change of wavelength and intensity. Also, the area is calculated by the wavelength of the spectrum peak where the material property of chemical elements such as carbon and hydrogen appears. Using informations such as slope and area, input data of the proposed classifier is constructed. In the preprocessing part of the classifier, Principal Component Analysis(PCA) and fuzzy transform are used for dimensional reduction from high dimensional input variables to low dimensional input variables. Characteristic analysis of the materials as well as the processing speed of the classifier is improved. In the condition part, FCM clustering is applied and linear function is used as connection weight in the conclusion part. By means of Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO), parameters such as the number of clusters, fuzzification coefficient and the number of input variables are optimized. To demonstrate the superiority of classification performance, classification rate is compared by using WEKA 3.8 data mining software which contains various classifiers such as Naivebayes, SVM and Multilayer perceptron.
