This study was conducted as basic research for establishing a mid to long term development plan for libraries in Uiseong-gun, designated as a depopulated area. First, the social, cultural, and environmental characteristics of Uiseong-gun were analyzed and compared with the library infrastructure of depopulation areas similar in size with Uiseong-gun. In addition, a survey was conducted on the perception of users to understand the usage status of libraries, satisfaction with services and improvement plans, non-use factors, and demands for new libraries. Based on this process, the direction of Uiseong-gun library policy was presented. Specifically, four strategic directions for the development of libraries (future orientation, community revitalization, service specialization of the information poor, enhancement of local humanities and spiritual culture) and five key service tasks (building library brand, implementing innovative spaces and services, expanding library functions for improvement of settlement conditions of residents, developing and providing services for the elderly reflecting local characteristics, promoting reading culture) were derived. The proposed core tasks focused on future-oriented library services to overcome the limitations of a population decrease area and develop the potential of Uiseong-gun.

This study aims to examine the case of using the social network services in the korea library, and then search the type of social network services and the status of it's introduction. It is used to the study of the introduction and the invigoration of social network services on the compatible library. First, we extracted the list of four type's high level management libraries from 2010 to 2012. Second, we examined the website's homepage of the list of 32's university library, 41's public library, 40's school library, 9's special library. Third, the result of analysis identified the feature and difference of the using the social network services of these libraries. Fourth, on the base of the result, it suggested some items of introduction's issue and the directions of future research.

This study analyzed the level of 326 academic librarians awareness, usability and counter strategies on the Library 3.0. The results revealed the awareness level in the following order: that (1) Mobile Library (2) Semantic Search (3) AI(Artificial Intelligent) (4) Cloud Computing (5) Ontology (6) Linked Data. The order of the future usability for the Library 3.0 was ranked (1) Mobile Library (2) Linked Data (3) Semantic Search (4) Cloud Computing (5) AI and (6) Ontology. To conclude, the level of awareness and the usability of Library 3.0 were shown to be statistically significant. There are, however, some discrepancies in awareness differ across librarians and regions. Moreover, the level of awareness for the Library 3.0 did influence the library's organizational performance but the individual librarian's competences only.

In this study, to improve the satisfaction of library users in the hospital and to examine how to activate the library in the future, the satisfaction of library, facilities and environment, staff, service, We conducted a demand survey and searched for the operation plan of the library that satisfied the user. As a result, in order to revitalize the library in the hospital, first, in the case of the collection, it is necessary to expand the number of collections of various topics with the latest contents. Second, it is urgent to expand the number of library staff in the hospital. In addition, it is necessary to improve communication expertise based on medical expertise and ability to respond quickly to user requests. Third, it is necessary to expand the size of library and convenience facilities in the hospital by facilities and environment. Fourth, in case of service, it is necessary to improve service quality and provide various services. Experts should provide subject search service, medical information source service, general health information service (patient and carer) according to the user. Finally, in the case of programs, it is necessary to expand the infrastructure for program operation, to diversify the targets, and to extend the program continuity.

This study aims to provide some rosie material for the libraries to improve its role for supporting the virtual university by recognizing the changing roles to have to support the distance education which is becoming a growing area in the coming new century due to the necessity of continuing renewal and the retaining of the information related workers. Through the study, a few conclusions were derived. (1) To support the virtual university, the library services should be directed toward the operation of the full access - philosophy and should reflect the information needs of the off-campus students. The librarians should be equipped with the ability to make use of networked resources and to provide the document delivery services together with the ability to develop the web-based user training programs. The department of library and Information Science should educate the future librarian for the purpose of supporting the virtual university. (2) A written and agreed guidelines should be established to specify the philosophy, management, facilities, resources and services to support the virtual university. And it is desirable that in the near future the department and a librarian responsible for the supporting the distance education should be established.

The purpose of this study was to establish the concept of theme collection in the library, to clarify the reality of the theme collection operation. This study was to set up methodology for constructing and operating the theme collection in the future and to provide implications for future development. For this purpose, this study conducted in-depth interviews with a total of 12 directors and librarians from four public libraries. The results of the analysis revealed that the theme collection can be built and function properly with a solid understanding of its collection, users and community, and sharing its services goals and orientations. In addition, it was found that the task of constructing a theme collection contributes to the establishment of the identity of the librarian, and it is interrelated with the various library works. Finally, a comprehensive model of current theme collections was discussed.

In 2021, the Korean National Police Agency is facing a critical time as it meets a period of drastic changes such as the introduction of autonomous police system, the reform of its criminal investigation system, and its great transformation to a truly responsible investigative agency in keeping with the inauguration of the National Office of Investigation. This study carries out PEST analysis, which is a macro environmental analysis technique, and examines the current situation of operating the libraries of metropolitan-city and provincial police agencies and affiliated institutions, in order to suggest the role and function of the Korean National Police Agency's libraries in the fourth industrial revolution era. Based on the findings, this study classifies the essential components of a library into facilities, books, and librarians, i.e. spatial composition, book composition, and human resources, in addition to library operational governance establishment and future-oriented library services; and proposes the future-oriented roles of the National Police Agency's libraries in the fourth industrial revolution era.

This study aimed to investigate key research areas in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS) by analyzing trends and identifying emerging topics. To facilitate the research, a collection of 40,897 author keywords from 11,252 papers published in the past 30 years (1993-2022) in five journals was gathered. In addition, keyword analysis, as well as Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and correlation analysis were conducted, utilizing variables such as the number of articles, number of authors, ratio of co-authored papers, and cited counts. The findings of the study suggest that two topics are likely to develop as promising research areas in LIS in the future: machine learning/algorithm and research impact. Furthermore, it is anticipated that future research will focus on topics such as social media and big data, natural language processing, research trends, and research assessment, as they are expected to emerge as prominent areas of study.

This article presents the role of children's librarian in the age of information. Preparing the 21st century, there should have been to identify the humanities of health, independent, creative, and moral fact with educating children in future Korea. Children's library should service all the children to improve the information skill and technology, to creat a whole person with high order intellectual thinking skill for the consumer, the voter and the leader of the next generation. It has been identified that the children's librarian should playas a mediator of literacy and culture of children, a creating counselor of personality, a negotiator of recoginating all knowledge, and a leader of the information skill or communication skill in the children education at the 21st century.

This study examined the definitions and characteristics of TQM, procedures, problems and benefits of TQM and investigated the cases in U.S.A. and U.K. in a n.0, pplying TQM to libraries. It is necessary that libraries and information centers should a n.0, pply TQM for management innovation in order to overcome present and future crisis. As a result of study, there are three suggestions as follows. First, To be developed the TQM model for various types of libraries by national or library world. Second, To conduct TQM successfully in libraries and information centers, it is necessary to comprising the elements as follows. 1) Vision, committment and leadership of top management 2) Change of library's organizational culture 3) Learning and training of organizational members 4) Interests and participation of organizational members 5) Empowering and respecting people 6) Rewards for performance and accomplishments 7) Benchmarking 8) Measurement of performance and benefits. Third, TQM activities in libraries are developed into quality movement.
