초고온 진공로 통합설계 최적화 소프트웨어 개발 (Development of Integrated Design and Optimization Software for the High Temperature Furnace Design)

  • High temperature vacuum furnaces or high standard electric furnaces demand high technology level and high production cost. Therefore, an iterative design process and the optimization approach under integrated computing environment are required to reduce the development risk. Moreover, it also required to develop an integrated design software that can manage the centralized database system between factory and design department, and the automated furnace design and analysis. The developed software is dedicated to the development of the vacuum (electric) furnaces. Based on the distribute middleware system, the GUI module, the CAD module, the thermal analysis module and the optimization module are integrated. For the DBMS, Microsoft Access is employed, the GUI is developed using Visual Basic language, and AutoCAD is utilized for the configuration design. By investigating the analysis code interface, the analysis and optimization process, and the data communication method, the overall system architecture, the method to integrate the optimizer and ana lysis codes, and the method to manage the data flow are proposed and verified through the optimal furnace design.

  • Model Based Predictive Control(MBPC) has been widely used in predictive control since 80's. GPC[1] which is the superset of many MBPC strategies a popular method, but GPC has some weakness, such as insufficient stability analysis, non-applicability to internally unstable systems. However, CRHPC[2] proposed in 1991 overcomes the above limitations. So we chose RHPC based on CRHPC for electric furnace control. An electric furnace which has nonlinear properties and large time delay is difficult to control by linear controller because it needs nearly perfect modelling and optimal gain in case of PID. As a result, those controls are very time-consuming. In this paper, we applied RHPC with equality constraint to electric furnace. The reults of experiments also include the case of RHPC with monotonic weighting improving the transient response and including unmodelled dynamics. So, This paper proved the practical aspect of RHPC for real processes.

가열로내 피열재의 온도분포 해석 (Analysis on the Temperature Distribution for the Billet in a Furnace)

  • In this paper, the optimal heating pattern of the furnace is sought to reduce the unnecessary energy loss. A finite difference method was used to estimate the transient temperature field of the billet in a furnace. Heat conduction equations were used in the interior nodes of the billet, while energy balances for conduction, convection, and radiation were considered in the boundary nodes. Several heating patterns for the furnace were tested and subsequently compared each other. The results showed that the temperature in the preheating zone should be set to relatively low. The temperature distributions of the billet are quite different from each other when different heating pattern are used, even though the heating patterns have the same amount of energy consumption. It reveals that there exists an optimal heating pattern to save the energy loss.

유리 용융로에서 자연대류의 열적 불안정성 (Thermal Instability of Natural Convection in a Glass Melting Furnace)

  • The transition from steady laminar to chaotic convection in a glass melting furnace specified by upper surface temperature distribution has been studied by the direct numerical analysis of the two and three-dimensional time dependent Navier-Stokes equations. The thermal instability of convection roll may take place when modified Rayleigh number($Ra_m$) is larger than $9.71{\times}10^4$. It is shown that the basic flows in a glass melting furnace are steady laminar, unsteady periodic, quasi-periodic or chaotic flow. The dimensionless time scale of unsteady period is about the viscous diffusion time, ${\tau}_d=H^2/{\nu}_0$. Through primary and secondary instability analyses the fundamental unsteady feature in a glass melting furnace is well defined as the unsteady periodic or weak chaotic flow.

  • This purpose of this study is to find the properties of pore structure and length change of blast furnace slag cement added alkali powder stimulant on shrinkage reducing agent presence. In length change, the specimen added alkaline stimulant was smaller than normal blast furnace slag concrete. And the specimen added shrinkage reduction agent was confirmed to show smaller rate of length change than the length. In MIP analysis of 1day-age, 0.1㎛ subsequent pore amount of the specimen added alkaline stimulant was significantly smaller value the normal blast furnace slag concrete specimen.

  • Arc-furnace is one of the large loads in the electric power system. When the arc-furnace operates, it may cause a bus voltage fluctuation in the power system, because it consumes a lot of reactive power. In this paper, we simulated this phenomenon by using a PSAF program with on-site measured arc-furnace load. The simulated results show that the fluctuation of bus voltage adjacent the arc-furnace was varied from $4.3%{\sim}7.8%$ the normal voltage because of reactive power consumption by arc-furnace. Therefore, we expect this study will come into use as the basic information on the probability of the demand control

용해로 전기배선의 설치환경에 따른 절연저항 추이 분석 (Analysis of the Insulation Resistance Trend according to the Installation Environment of the Electric Wiring of the Melting Furnace)

  • In this study, the process and the environment of a melting furnace, located in Workplace A in Chungnam Province was inspected, and the insulation resistances of electrical circuits and motors were measured, and their changes over five years (2017-2021) were analyzed. It was found that the exhaust fan, oil pumps #A and #B, and heater were installed in 2010. Their insulation resistances decreased from 2017. Specifically, the insulation resistance of Oil Pump #A decreased from 100 (㏁) in 2018 to 20(㏁) in 2021, an 80% reduction. The fast decrease in insulation resistance was due to the high temperature of the melting furnace affecting surrounding the electrical facilities. A safety management scheme on the electrical facility of the melting furnace was proposed.

THE ANALYSIS OF EFFLUENT GAS FROM ETHYLENE FURNACE BY NEAR-INFRARED SPECTROSCOPY

  • Usually there are many furnaces in a ethylene plant and the performance of total furnaces can be improved if that of each furnace is monitored and controlled. For this purpose real-time data for the effluent of each furnace is necessary. However, it is very difficult to analyze the total effluent stream of a ethylene furnace by real-time because it is composed of so many components including heavy hydrocarbons. Fortunately, component data for lighter hydrocarbons is much more important than that of heavier ones for ethylene furnace. In ordinary case, the on-line measurement of light hydrocarbons is performed by on-stream gas chromatography, after separating gas-phase part from effluent. The main and important components of gas-phase are Methane, Ethane, Ethylene, and Propylene. If we can use Near-infrared spectroscopy for measuring those components within good reproducibility, shorter analysis time, better repeatability, easier maintenance and lower cost will make Near-infrared (NIR) analyzer replace on-stream gas chromatography in this process. Although it is known to be very difficult to measure gas components because of very weak absorption in Near-infrared region, we have studied the feasibility of the application of NIR for the measurement of gas-phase hydrocarbon in the effluent of ethylene furnace. The samples were obtained from actual process and NIR spectra were collected over 1100 to 2500nm range. NIR spectra and calibrations showed and demonstrated the possibility of extending NIR spectroscopy to the measurement of gas-phase hydrocarbon in the effluent of ethylene furnace.

광물질 혼화재를 혼합한 해양 콘크리트의 해석적 성능 평가 (Analytical Estimation of the Performance of Marine Concrete with Mineral Admixture)

  • 이 연구에서는 해양 콘크리트의 균열저항성 및 내구성을 향상시킨 고성능 해양 콘크리트 개발 연구의 일환으로 광물질 혼화재를 혼입한 콘크리트의 강도, 수화발열 특성 및 염해저항성에 대한 해석적 평가를 실시하였다. 고로슬래그와 플라이애시를 광물질 혼화재로 검토하였으며, 고로슬래그 치환율은 70%까지 플라이애시 치환율은 40%까지 검토하였다. 해석검토 결과, 고로슬래그 및 플라이애시 치환은 모두 압축강도를 크게 저하시키는 결과를 보였으며, 수화발열 특성에서는 고로슬래그는 영향이 적은 반면, 플라이애시는 수화발열량 저감에 크게 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 염소이온 침투 특성에서는 고로슬래그는 침투저항성을 증대시키는 반면, 플라이애시는 저하시키는 경향을 보였다. 해석적 평가를 통해 수화열과 염해내구성을 동시에 고려할 경우, 적절한 양의 고로슬래그와 플라이애시를 함께 사용한 3성분계 시멘트 배합 구성이 효과적일 것으로 판단된다.
