  • Let{Xt}be an m-dimensional linear process of the form (equation omitted), where{Zt}is a sequence of stationary m-dimensional weakly associated random vectors with EZt = O and E∥Zt∥$^2$$\infty$. We Prove central limit theorems for multivariate linear processes generated by weakly associated random vectors. Our results also imply a functional central limit theorem.

Structural, Magnetic, and Electronic Properties of Fe: A Screened Hybrid Functional Study

  • We performed total energy and electronic structure calculations for the basic ground state properties of Fe using the conventional generalized gradient approximation (GGA) and screened hybrid functionals as the form of the exchange-correlation functional. To that end, we calculated structural (equilibrium lattice constants, bulk moduli, and cohesive energies) and electronic (magnetic moments and densities of states) properties. Both functional calculations gave the correct ground state, the ferromagnetic bcc phase, in which the structural parameters agreed well with experimental results. However, the description of the cohesive energies and magnetic moments at the ground state exhibited different behavior from each other: the unusually small cohesive energy and large magnetic moment were observed in the screened hybrid functional calculations compared to the GGA calculations. The reason for the difference was examined by analyzing the calculated electronic structures.

  • S-modulin in frog or its bovine homologue, recoverin, is a 26 kDa EF-hand $Ca^{2+}$-binding protein found in rod photoreceptors. The $Ca^{2+}$ -bound form of S-modulin binds to rhodopsin kinase (Rk) and inhibits its activity. Through this regulation, S-modulin is believed to modulate the light-sensitivity of a rod. In the present study, we tried to identify the interaction site of the $Ca^{2+}$ -bound form of S-modulin to Rk. First, we mapped roughly the interaction regions by using partial peptides of S-modulin. The result suggested that a specific region near the amino terminus is the interaction site of S- modulin. We then identified the essential amino acid residues in this region by using S-modulin mutant proteins: four amino acid residues were suggested to interact with Rk. These residues are located in a small closed pocket in the $Ca^{2+}$-free, inactive form of S-modulin, but exposed to the surface of the molecules in the $Ca^{2+}$ -bound, active form of S-modulin. Two additional amino acid residues were found to be crucial for the $Ca^{2+}$ -dependent conformational changes of S-modulin. The Expressive Characteristics of the Posthuman Body in Fashion Illustration (패션 일러스트레이션에 반영된 포스트휴먼의 신체 표현특징)

  • In the $21^{st}$ century, technology is a tool for the expansion of the five senses and physical ability that works as an element for posthuman identity. This study analyzes and theorizes on the characteristics of the posthuman body in fashion illustration. The method of this study analyzes documentaries about posthuman and fashion illustration. The results are as follow. Posthuman body types are classed as hybrid body, plastic surgery body, and digital body. The characteristics of the posthuman body are categorized as ultra- functional prosthetic, mythical undifferentiated, radical plastic surgery type and post-physical digitization type. The ultra-functional prosthetic type shows a restored body and upgraded functional body through a machine hybrid, cyborg suit and mannequin hybrid. It is a break from classical gender identity to form a nerve sense extension that displays physical and abstract power. The mythical undifferentiated type shows a therianthropic form, parts of an animal body, radical skin and gender bending. It represents the return to an undifferentiated world, the desire of a powerful being and the possibility of radical transformation. The radical plastic surgery type shows a photomontage of an ideal body, transgendered body, grotesque body marking, absence of partial or overall face organ and the expansion of abnormal body organs. It represents the expression of narcissism, unconscious desire, fantasy, fear and suggests an alternative ideality, sexual attachment and ambiguous gender identity. The post-physical digitization type shows an imperfect form or duplicated ego image through the omission of the body silhouette or detailed form, fragmented image using net, representative self like optical illusion using typography, an imperfect vague silhouette and immaterial body outline through the use of virtual light. It represents the lack of desire, narcissism, fluidity in a virtual space, the continued creation of a new self, ambiguous gender identity and the liberation of environment, sex, and race. Likewise, the posthuman in fashion illustration shows the absence of a species boundary, destruction of classical gender identity, a new personality and virtual self image.

  • Code and object reuse is big concern for fast and efficient Virtual Reality (VR) system development. Many VR packages offer reasonably nice abstractions for various functionalities. That is, software reuse at the functional level is well practiced. Many geometry models are rarely used for main \"characters\" but mostly for incidental and decorative objects. This is because the main \"character\" objects usually exhibit certain behavior incompatible with the way the geometric model is organized.   • This study is regarding closed and open forms, which have relatively high recognition among visual perception phenomena in costumes. In particular, this study reviewed closeness and openness of ethnic look, which is a representative open costume. Closed form can be summarized as simple and clear silhouette, conspicuous differentiation from the background, simple construction of the costume and colors with low brightness and clearness. It Is modern, functional, rational and modest. On the other hand, open form can be summarized as complicated and inconspicuous edge line, complicated inner shape and colors with high brightness, high clearness and vividness. It includes concepts of pleasure, entertainment, joy, eroticism, rebel and resistance. Modern costumes have been simplified for a long time and they have functional and closed characteristics in their shape, structure and form. On the other hand, modern open form costumes are usually found in sub-cultural styles such as punk, hippie, kitsch and vintage, and some ethnic looks. Following is a summary of the characteristics of open form shown in the ethnic look. 1. The shape, structure of costumes, hair accessories, lace, ruffle and ornaments are complicated and irregular. 2. The silhouette is inconspicuous because of ambiguity between backgrounds and ABC (Apparel-Body-Construct) or the use of see-through materials. 3. It makes complicated visual shapes because it does not have a single type but is composed of various clothing items together. 4. It gives complex feelings by matching various colors or more than two different fabrics. 5. It looks like the open type because of the complex patterns shown in the costumes.

Physicochemical and Textural Properties of Low-Fat Model Sausages with Different Types of Pork Skin Gelatin with or without Transglutaminase (돈육 젤라틴의 형태와 Transglutaminase의 첨가 유무에 따른 저지방 모델 소시지의 이화학적 및 조직 특성)

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of gelatin type (powder vs. hydrated) with or without transglutaminase (TGase) on the physicochemical and textural properties of low-fat model sausages (LFS). Treatments included LFS (control), LFS with hydrated-gel form of gelatin (1%), and LFS with powder form of gelatin (1%). Yellowness values of LFS with any type of gelatin were higher than those without gelatin (P<0.05). Moisture content (%) of LFS containing powder form of gelatin (1%) was higher than those with hydrated-gel form of gelatin or control (P<0.05). Expressible moisture (EM, %) of LFS with hydrated-gel form of gelatin was lower than those with powder form of gelatin (P<0.05). Thus, sausages with hydrated-gel form of gelatin showed better functional properties as compared to those with powder form of gelatin. To elucidate the interaction between gelatin and TGase in meat product, five actual sausages were manufactured: reference [konjac flour (KF), carrageenan (CN), and soy protein isolate], control (KF and CN alone), TRT1 (KF and CN, TGase 1%), TRT2 (KF and CN, gelatin 1%), and TRT3 (KF and CN, TGase 1%+gelatin 1%). EM (%) of sausages with TGase alone was higher than those of other treatments (P<0.05). Most textural properties of TRT3 were higher than those of other treatments. Thus, TRT3 showed better functional properties than those with single addition. In conclusion, a combination of TGase and gelatin could be used to manufacture LFSs with improved functional and textural properties.

Tumor Therapy Applying Membrane-bound Form of Cytokines

  • Tumor therapy using cytokines has been developed for last two decades. Several recombinant cytokines and tumor cell vaccines produced by cytokine gene transfer have been in clinical trials, but several side effects hamper routine clinical applications. Many cytokines are originally expressed as membrane-bound form and then processed to secretory form exerting paracrine effects. Though functional differences of these two types of cytokines are elusive yet, the membrane-bound form of cytokine may exert its effects on restricted target cells as a juxtacrine, which are in physical contacts. With the efforts to improve antitumor activities of cytokines in cancer patients, developing new strategies to alleviate life-threatening side effects became an inevitable goal of tumor immunologists. Among these, tumor cell vaccines expressing cytokines as membrane-bound form on tumor cell surface have been developed by genetic engineering techniques with the hope of selective stimulation of the target cells that are in cell-to-cell contacts. In this review, recent progress of tumor cell vaccines expressing membrane-bound form of cytokines will be discussed.

Applications of Functional Tray Form Packaging to Extend the Freshness of High-Quality 'Fuji' Apples (특 등급 품질 후지사과 선도유지를 위한 플라스틱 용기 포장 효과 연구)

  • We investigated the effects of storage temperature and packaging treatment on the freshness of high-quality 'Fuji' apples to improve consumer confidence in the maintenance of high fruit quality during distribution. A 0.35 mm-deep PET tray form-sealed with a 0.05 mm LDPE film lid was developed and tested with the aim of optimizing gas composition within the package headspace to utilize potential modified atmosphere (MA) storage to maintain the freshness of apples. Weight loss, color difference, firmness, respiration rate, gas concentrations in packages, acidity, solid soluble content, and fruit decay rate were measured during storage at $5^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$. The results showed that respiration rate, weight loss, color difference, and firmness were lower and overall quality better during storage at $5^{\circ}C$ compared with $25^{\circ}C$. Also, the fruits packed in the functional tray form showed a low level of quality changes compared with the control (no packaging). The accumulated gasconcentrations in the headspace of the packages decreased from 21% to 12% $O_2$ and increased from 0% to 5% $CO_2$ (v/v) on day 7, and after remained at those levels thereafter. Soluble solid contents and total acidities of the packaged fruits were in the range of $11\;-\;14^{\circ}Brix$ and 0.2 0.3% during storage. Decay rates in the control and packaged fruits were more than 20% and less than 10% at 3 weeks, respectively. Based on the standard acceptable level (less than 10%) of total weight loss, it could be estimated that the shelf life of top-quality fruits packed in functional trays was 3 weeks at $5^{\circ}C$ and 16 weeks at $25^{\circ}C$, whereas the shelf life of the control fruit was 1 week and 12 weeks, respectively. For the top-quality fruit "Fuji" apples, the best results were obtained with a functional tray form for packaging treatment and a storage temperature of $5^{\circ}C$.
