  • Attainment of the goals of functional electrical stimulation(FES) applications such as strengthening of muscle, increasing muscular endurance, improvement in joint range of motion or the reduction of spasticity does not insure that patients will be able to produce voluntary muscle contraction sufficient to maintain posture or produce purposeful movements. In many patients who have sustained CNS damage, the control exerted by higher nervous system center over muscle contraction may impaired. In Searched patients, a variety of advanced therapeutic exercise techniques have been employed traditionally to facilitate the return of controlled functional muscular activity or maintain postural alignment until recovery from dysfunction occurs Among the most common clinical applications of FES for functional muscle contraction is as a substitute for static or dynamic orthotic devices

국내 과실 선도유지 특성 및 포장기술 고찰 (Review of Quality Changes of Postharvest Fruits and Packaging Applications to Extend Their Shelf Life)

  • In response to the continuous changes in current consumer demands and market trends for postharvest produces, the functional application for agricultural packaging is becoming increasely significant. This paper focuses on the overview of important changes in physical and chemical status related to postharvest physiology and applications of the functional packaging materials for maintaining the freshness of fruits after harvest. During postharvest treatment and storage periods, fresh fruits undergoes the ripening process in quality attributes of the fruit such as major changes of texture, color, and flavor. Major fruit packaging technologies are concerned with correct gas permeable film and functions of ethylene removal, antimicrobial, and antifogging substances to keep the effective freshness. Application guidelines for the functional packaging in fresh produces were studied.

  • We consider a functional difference equation and use fixed point theory to obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability of its zero solution. At the end of the paper we apply our results to nonlinear Volterra infinite delay difference equations.

  • We introduce the Landau-de Gennes model in order to understand molecular structures in ferroelectric liquid crystals. We investigate equilibrium configurations of the governing energy functional by means of bifurcation analysis. In particular, we obtain periodic solutions of the functional, which is a signature of a rich variety of applications of ferroelectric materials.

  • Aptamers are functional nucleic acids that can specially bind to proteins, peptides, amino acids. nucleotides, drugs, vitamins and other organic and inorganic compounds. The aptamers are identified from random DNA or RNA libraries by a SELEX (systematic evolution of ligands by exponential amplification) process. As aptamers have the advantage, and potential ability to be released from the limitations of antibodies, they are attractive to a wide range of therapeutic and diagnostic applications. Aptamers, with a high-affinity and specificity, could fulfil molecular the recognition needs of various fields in biotechnology. In this work, we reviewed some aptamer Selection techniques, properties, medical applications of their molecules and their biotechnological applications, such as ELONA (enzyme linked oligonucleotide assay), flow cytometry, biosensors, electrophoresis, chromatography and microarrays.
