In this study, polybutadiene based di-functional urethane acrylate oligomer (PB-UAO) were synthesized from polybutadiene diol and isophorone diisocyanate. And then, pressure sensitive adhesive films were prepared by mixing with synthesized oligomer, tri-functional acrylate monomer (Tris(2-acryloyloxyethyl) isocyanurate (TAOEIC) or Trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA) or Pentaerythritol triacrylate (PETA)), mono-functional acrylate monomer (Stearyl acrylate) and UV initiators. Effects of types and contents of trifunctional acrylate monomers on peel strength, tensile strength, elongation, thermal stability and water absorption property were studied. As the contents of tri-functional acrylate monomer increased, and as the molecular weight of tri-functional acrylate monomer decreased, peel strength, elongation and water absorption showed a tendency to decrease whereas tensile strength and thermal stability showed a tendency to increase.
Super water-absorbent resins were prepared by inverse suspension copolymerization of sodium acrylate, acrylamide and 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate using N, N'-methylene-bis-acrylamide as cross-linker. For the suspension copolymerization, monohexadecyl phosphate was employed as the dispersing agent, cyclohexane as the dispersing medium and potassium persulfate as the initiator. The dependence of water-absorption capacity on the amount of crosslinking agent, oil/water ratio, degree of neutralization and the composition of the copolymer were systematically investigated. Furthermore, the swelling kinetics of the super water-absorbent copolymer was carried out. The absorption of the resins is more than 1800 g/g for deionized water and 100 g/g for 0.9% NaCl solution, respectively. The copolymers showed an increased salt resistance and enhanced water retention of soil.
UV curable transparent hard coating materials have been developed to improve the mechanical and optical properties of PET substrate. The coating materials were synthesized using various urethane acrylate oligomers, monomers, photo initiators, and leveling agents. The materials were coated on PET substrates and UV cured. The hard coated PET films were shown to have the good scratch resistance and transparency. When the urethane acrylate oligomer with more functional groups was introduced into the coating solution, the mechanical and optical properties were improved. However the higher concentration of 9-functional oligomer resulted in the decrease of workability. The addition of trimethylolpropane ethoxylate$(EO/OH)_9$ triacrylate(TMPETA) to coating solution improved the workability and properties. As a result, the UV cured film from the formulation of urethane acrylate oligomer with 9-functional groups, TMPETA as a monomer, IRACURE 754 as a photo initiator and BYK-340 as a leveling agent showed the best mechanical and optical properties in this study.

Ultraviolet curable coating solution was prepared with poly(ethylene glycol) acrylate oligomer and various mono and multi-functional acrylate monomers. The optical properties of UV cured coating layer on PET film with acrylate coating solution containing metal oxides, such as fumed silica and alumina, were also investigated to reduce light reflection on films. Poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate which has 575 of average molecular weight was used as oligomer acrylate, and pentaerythritol triacrylate and dipentaerythritolpenta-/hexa acrylate were used as multi-functional acrylate monomers. Also, butyl acrylate was used to improve the adhesion as well as to reduce glass transition temperature to give a better flexability. 1-hydroxy cyclohexyl phenyl ketone was used as photoinitiator. We found out the metal oxides in acrylate coating solution showed a homogeneous dispersion from energy dispersive spectroscopy data. Transmittance and light reflection of coated PET film was measured with UV/vis spectrometer and gloss meter, respectively. When 1.00 g of both metal oxides was added into coating solution, the transmittance and the glossiness were reduced from 90% to 30% and from 190 GU to 35 GU, respectively. However, adding up to 1.00 g of the metal oxide into coating solution did not affect on the hardness of coating layer and adhesion between coated layer and PET film. Conclusively, we can control transmittance and light reflection of coated film by adjusting the amounts of metal oxide in coating solution.

Waterborne polyurethane-acrylate(WPUA) dispersions were prepared by surfactant-free emulsion polymerization in a two-step process. In the first step, polytetrahydrofuran, isophorone diisocyanate, dimethylol proponic acid, and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate were used to synthesize a vinyl-terminated polyurethane prepolymer. In the second step, styrene, methyl methacrylate, butyl acrylate, and different multi-functional crosslinkers were copolymerized. 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate, trimethylolpropane triacrylate, and pentaerythritol tetraacrylate were used as the crosslinkers, and their effect on the mechanical and thermal properties of WPUA was investigated. Overall, as the number of functional groups of the cross-linker increased, the gel fraction improved to 79.26%, the particle size increased from 75.9 nm to 148.7 nm, and the tensile strength was improved from 5.86 MPa to 12.40 MPa. In thermal properties, the glass transition temperature and decomposition temperature increased by 9.9℃ and 18℃, respectively. The chemical structures of the WPUA dispersions were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. The synthesized WPUA has high potential for applications such as coatings, leather coatings, adhesives, and wood finishing.
The waterborne acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive in the basis of butylacylate (BA) and 2-Ethylhexylacrylate (2-EHA) was synthesized and the methyl methacrylate (MMA) have been used to give the rigidity perfroamce. The polymreric latex was synthesized using butyl acrylate (BA), 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (EHA), methyl methacrylate (MMA) and each 1, 2, 3% of various functional monomers. The dimethyl-2-imidazlidon acrylate and 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonate was used in order to increase the wetting properties of acrylic emulsion. To study of properties of functional monomer, The polymreric latex was synthesized various functional monomers each 1, 2, 3%. The 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonate showed the best properties. Latex with acrylic acid and dimethyl-2-imidazlidon acrylate had good peel strength, holding power, but it showed that they didn't separate from adhered cleanly by weak cohesion strength. The adhesion performance was increased by increasing amount of 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonate however latexes with upper 7% 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonate showed that the properties of PSA decreased.

Photocurable modified 6 functional polyacrylate(PA-1) were prepared from dipentaerythritol derivatives (DPET) and acrylic acid, and 12 functional polymethacrylate(PA-2) were prepared from dipentaerythritol derivatives (DPET), trimellitic anhydride, and glycidyl methacrylate. And physical properties of photocurable modified poly(meth)acrylate were increased with increasing functionality of (meth)acrylate. Thermal stability of UV cured film obtained by using TGA was shifted to higher temperature as the increasing of functionality. Hardness, abrasion resistance and tensile strength of UV cured film were increased with increasing functionality of (meth)acrylate. Values of yellow index were increased with increasing functionality of (meth)acrylate.
Two functional urethane acrylates were synthesized by using polycarprolactonediol (PCLD) and diisocyanate. The synthesized fuctional urethane acrylate was mixed with butyl acrylate(BA) or adhesion promoters, and their properties were investigated. To synthesize an excellent transparent urethane acrylate, isophorone diisocyanate(IPDI) was used. In addition, the effect of adding butyl acrylate for the improvement of shrinkage of urethane acrylate was studied. The results showed that the addition of butyl acrylate improved the shrinkage, and the optimum butyl acrylate content was 15 wt%. Both 2-ethyl hexyl acrylate (2-EHA) and ethyl acrylate(EA) were polymerized at $85^{\circ}C$ for 4 hrs to use as adhesion promoters, and the polymerized adhesion promoters were mixed to the UV-curing resin. The results showed that the adhesion properties increased with the increase of adhesion promoters content up to 15 wt%.
Surface modification of a hydrophobic acrylic polymer film has been performed through simple chemical treatment to give a reactive surface. 2-Triphenylstannylthioethyl acrylate was polymerized under UV-illumination with various contents of a comonomer. When the polymer film was treated with fluoride ion, thiol functional group (SH) was generated on the film surface, which was observed through infrared absorption spectroscopy. The surface was functionalized by thiol addition reaction to acrylic chromophores. The SH content on the surface was controlled with a comonomer, tris(hydroxymethyl)ethane triacrylate, and examined with UV-Vis absorbance of the chromophore attached film. Similarly, a polymer film from 2-tributylstannylthioethyl acrylate was prepared. Destannylation from the triphenylstannyl and tributylstannyl surface completed after 30 and 5 min, respectively. The SH-exposed surface was modified with an isocyanate attached chromophore within 10 min, while acrylic chromophore required 24 h.

Over the past years, a large number of acrylate polymers have been developed and the overcoat thin layer containing acrylate polymers have been used for TFT-LCD color filter. As forming thin layer using acrylate polymers, the existing acrylate polymers have some problems such as low hardness by low Tg temperature, coating uniformity and solubility in organic solvent. To solve these problems, we synthesized new polymer(Scheme.), containing olefin monomer, which has high Tg temperature, good coating uniformity and good solubility in organic solvent. The overcoat thin layer containing new polymer resulted in good coating uniformity, stain, spot, scratch, heat resistance, DOP(Degree Of Planarization) on RGB glass, transparency, hardness, adhesion, anti-chemicals(anti-acid, anti-base, anti-organic solvent), insulation and anti-humidity. Scheme. The structure of new polymer X = Olefin monomer contains ketone, ester, hydroxy, ether, halogen, nitrile, alkoxy, phenyl functional group $R_1$ and $R_2$= H or $CH_3$.
