A Study on the System Management CSCI Software Modularization in Naval Combat Management System

  • Frequently changeable functional requirements in System Management CSCI Software make it difficult to reuse an overall application, but only the partial class codes repeatedly as a new version of Naval Combat Management System is developed. This structural environment leads to increasing development time and expenses. This is why modularization for System Management CSCI Software is proposed as a solution, leveraging the advantages of proper standardization and functional expandability offered by Standard Interface Architecture. This paper outlines the comparisons of modified class ratios as well as software reliability test runtime results between before and after implementing the modularization for System Management CSCI Software. The findings demonstrate there is sufficient improvement in areas, such as higher maintenance and reusability, supporting the application of modularization for System Management CSCI Software with the implementation of Standard Interface Architecture.

  • Ultra-precision positioning systems basically require high natural frequency and sufficient workspace. To cope with this requirement, flexure hinge mechanisms have been proposed. However, previous designs are hard to satisfy the functional requirements of the system due to difficulty in modeling and optimizing process applying an independent axiomatic design. Therefore, this paper proposes a new design and design-order based on semi-coupled axiomatic design. A planar 3 DOF parallel type micro mechanism is chosen as an exemplary device. Based on preliminary kinematic analysis and dynamic modeling of the system, an optimal design has been carried out. To check the effectiveness of the optimal parameters obtained from theoretical approach, simulation is performed by FEM. The simulation result shows that a natural frequency of 200.53Hz and a workspace of $2000{\mu}m{\times}2000{\mu}m$ can be ensured, which is in very close agreement with the specified goal of design.

  • Test and evaluation of weapon system is an important task to evaluate the performance of overseas weapon system purchasing project. Especially, quantitative evaluation of performances is hardly completed in defense projects where multiple criteria are conflicted each other. In order to solve this problem, we apply Axiomatic Design (AD) and Inner Dependence AHP method. First, finite functional requirements (FRs) are categorized in hierarchy structure by selecting proper design parameters (DPs) to implement their corresponding FRs. If there are no ways to select DPs when design is coupled between FRs and DPs, then inner dependence is allowed to overcome the strict rule of independence in AHP. Second, the weights of DPs are calculated by applying both Inner Dependence AHP method for coupled design and normal AHP method for uncoupled or decoupled design. Finally, information axiom of AD is applied to the proposed weapon systems by calculating information contents for all parameters. Weapon system with minimum sum of information contents is considered as the best solution. The proposed method in this study should be used in multiple criteria decision making problems involving various conflicting criteria.

Development of Virtual Target Signal Generator for Verifying the Shipborne Tracking Radar Performance (함정용 추적레이더 성능 검증을 위한 모의표적신호발생장치 개발)

  • The virtual target signal generator was developed to verify the shipborne tracking radar performance. It was used to DRFM(Digital RF Memory) method to generate the virtual moving targets. The target signal includes Doppler shift and RCS according to the target motion. And the signal generator can make jamming signal and clutter to test shipborne radar performance at real environmental condition. This paper described the functional diagram and the hardware configuration items to meet the test requirements for the tracking radar. And it showed the critical design points for the sub-systems. The signal generator which was developed in this paper shared the operational information of the radar with the radar command and control part. To test the frequency agility of the radar, it had the local oscillator which could do high speed frequency switching according to radar information. By communicating between the signal generator and the radar command and control part, the local oscillator of signal generator could be controlled every pulse. It reduced the instantaneous bandwidth of signal generator and minimized the spurious. So it lowered the probability of generating wrong targets.

  • This paper introduces the group performance model, types of group process, and characteristics of group. Then, it presents a survey of current groupware and meeting support systems. Especially, it discusses functional requirements for a group support system in order to improve the performance of new product development teams. The group support system should provide functions for all team members to collaborate anytime and anyplace. The system should guarantee individual thinking, parallelism, and anonymity, when necessary. The system should support both individual task and group task, and the whole process of group meeting so that it facilitates the creativity of participants and complements the weakness of the group.

  • In accordance to rapid aging of population, the accidents of elderly pedestrian and pedestrian safety are becoming very important issues. In terms of smartphone technologies, older people are increasingly looking for useful and friendly ICT services that which can add a value on their silver life. This paper introduced a new IT-based service for elderly walking assist using a smart-phone accompanied by a wearable watch. We describe the functional requirements and a systems architecture model with an interface between a smart-phone and wearable watch. Moreover, this study attempted to verify what services are needed and to estimate elderly pedestrians' WTP (willingness to pay) for IT-based walking assistance device. A total of 189 elderly pedestrians were randomly surveyed through face-to-face interviews. The questionnaire consisted of 3 categories: (1) questions pertaining to socio-economic status, (2) 12 questions regarding walking attitudes, and (3) a question to measure WTP. With this gathered data, factor analysis and path model estimating were conducted. The results identified the elderly user requirements and the use-value of new innovative products for IT-based walking assistance services by two groups(latent elderly and elderly). The modeling result shows that elderly's service preference would increase the possibilities for the commercialization of IT-based walking device with improving their walking safety.

Trustworthy Service Discovery for Dynamic Web Service Composition

  • As the number of services available on the Web increases, it is vital to be able to identify which services can be trusted. Since there can be an extremely large number of potential services that offer similar functionality, it is challenging to select the right ones. Service requestors have to decide which services closelysatisfy their needs, and theymust worry about the reliability of the service provider. Although an individual service can be trusted, a composed service is not guaranteed to be trustworthy. In this paper, we present a trust model that supports service discovery and composition based on trustworthiness. We define a method to evaluate trust in order to discover trustworthy services. We also provide a method to perform trust estimation for dynamic service composition, and we present results of two experiments. The proposed model allows for service requestors to obtain the most trustworthy services possible. Our mechanism uses direct and indirect user experience to discover the trustworthiness of the services and service providers. Moreover, composing services based on quantitative trust measurements will allow for consumers to acquire a highly reliable service that meet their quality and functional requirements.

  • In this paper, we introduce a RFIDbased real time air cargo monitoring system for cargo management in the air cargo terminal. In order to construct functional requirement and development framework,. we have analyzed the user requirements of cargo personnel of Incheon International Air Cargo Terminal. To find out the possibilities to adopt RFID in the cargo, we had benchmarked different RFID systems and also tested radio environment of the cargo. Based on the RFID system test and radior environment test, we developed a web based cargo monitoring solution which adopts EPC network and BPM solution with flexibility and expandability.

  • This paper presents the unified user equipment (UE) baseband modulation and demodulation (modem) hardware platform architecture to support multiple radio access technologies. In particular, this platform selectively supports two systems; one is HEDGE system, which is the combination of third generation partnership project (3GPP) Release 7 high speed packet access evolution (HSPA+) and global system for mobile communication (GSM)/general packet radio service (GPRS)/enhanced data rates for GSM evolution (EDGE), while the other is LEDGE system, which is the combination of 3GPP Release 8 long term evolution (LTE) and GSM/GPRS/EDGE. This is done by applying the flexible pin multiplexing scheme to a hardwired pin mapping process. On the other hand, to provide stable connection, high portability, and high debugging ability, the stacking structure is employed. Here, a layered board architecture grouped by functional classifications is applied instead of the conventional one flatten board. Based on this proposed configuration, we provide a framework for the verification step in wireless cellular communications. Also, modem function/scenario test and inter-operability test with various base station equipments are verified by system requirements and scenarios.

Measures for Automaker's Legal Risks from Security Threats in Connected Car Development Lifecycle

  • To improve passenger convenience and safety, today's vehicle is evolving into a "connected vehicle," which mounts various sensors, electronic control devices, and wired/wireless communication devices. However, as the number of connections to external networks via the various electronic devices of connected vehicles increases and the internal structures of vehicles become more complex, there is an increasing chance of encountering issues such as malfunctions due to various functional defects and hacking. Recalls and indemnifications due to such hacking or defects, which may occur as vehicles evolve into connected vehicles, are becoming a new risk for automakers, causing devastating financial losses. Therefore, automakers need to make voluntary efforts to comply with security ethics and strengthen their responsibilities. In this study, we investigated potential security issues that may occur under a connected vehicle environment (vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-infrastructure, and internal communication). Furthermore, we analyzed several case studies related to automaker's legal risks and responsibilities and identified the security requirements and necessary roles to be played by each player in the automobile development process (design, manufacturing, sales, and post-sales management) to enhance their responsibility, along with measures to manage their legal risks.
