This paper presents the separation performance of the linearly mixed image signals with additive noises by using an independent component analyses(ICAs) of the fixed-point(FP) algorithm based on Newton and secant method, respectively. The Newton's FP-ICA uses the slope of objective function, and the secant's FP-ICA also uses the tangent line of objective function. The 2 kinds of ICA have been applied to the 2 dimensional 2-image with $512\times512$ pixels. Then Gaussian noise and Laplacian noise are added to the mixed images, respectively. The experimental results show that the Newton's FP-ICA has better the separation speed than secant FP-ICA and the secant's FP-ICA has also the better separation rate than Newton's FP-ICA. Especially, the Newton and secant method gives relatively larger improvement degree in separation speed and rate as the noise increases.

In order to identify a transfer function model with noise, penalty function method has been widely used. In this method, estimation process for possible model parameters from low to higher order proceeds the model identification process. In this study, based on linear estimation method, a new approach unifying the estimation and the identification of ARMAX model is proposed. For the parameter estimation of a transfer function model with noise, linear estimation method by noise separation is suggested instead of nonlinear estimation method. The feasibility of the proposed model identification and estimation method is verified through simulations, namely by applying the method to time series model. In the case of time series model with noise, the proposed method successfully identifies the transfer function model with noise without going through model parameter identification process in advance. A new algorithm effectively achieving model identification and parameter estimation in unified frame has been proposed. This approach is different from the conventional method used for identification of ARMAX model which needs separate parameter estimation and model identification processes. The consistency and the accuracy of the proposed method has been verified through simulations.
Recent results from microlensing surveys show that a free-floating planet or a wide-separation planet is more numerous than a main-sequence star in the Galaxy. Moreover, the detection efficiency of the planets will be improved in next-generation experiments with a high survey monitoring frequency. However, microlensing events produced by both planets appear similar light curves with a short duration timescale, thus it is difficult to distinguish them. In this paper, we investigated the detectable separation range of a wide-separation planet as the planet bound to its host star. We construct the fractional deviation maps using the magnifications of the planetary lensing and the single-lensing by planet itself for various parameters such as a mass ratio, separation, and source radius. As a result, we found that the pattern of the fractional deviation is related to the ratio of source radius to caustic size, and the ratio satisfying the detection criterion (i.e., ${\geq}5%$ in the fractional deviation) varies with a separation. Hence, we derived a fitting formula as the function of a mass ratio and a source radius to reflect the variation in the calculations of the detectable separation range of a wide-separation planet as the planet bound to its host star. In addition, we estimated the condition that a wide-separation planet can be detected as a single-lensing event under the finite source effect. We found that such a case is possible provided that the source radius is smaller than ~2.5 times of Einstein ring radius of a planet, regardless of a separation or a mass ratio.

Implemented at the Geochang Observatory in South Korea, our slope detection and ranging (SLO-DAR) system features a 508 mm Cassegrain telescope (f /7.8), incorporating two Shack-Hartmann wave-front sensors (WFS) for precise measurements of atmospheric phase distortions, particularly from nearby binary or double stars, utilizing an 8 × 8 grid of sampling points. With an ability to reconstruct eight-layer vertical atmospheric profiles, the system quantifies the refractive index structure function (Cn2) through the crossed-beam method. Adaptable in vertical profiling altitude, ranging from a few hundred meters to several kilometers, contingent on the separation angle of binary stars, the system operates in both wide (2.5 to 12.5 arcminute separation angle) and narrow modes (11 to 15 arcsecond separation angle), covering altitudes from 122.3 to 611.5 meters and 6.1 to 8.3 kilometers, respectively. Initial measurements at the Geochang Observatory indicated Cn2 values up to 181.7 meters with a Fried parameter (r0) of 8.4 centimeters in wide mode and up to 7.8 kilometers with an r0 of 8.0 centimeters in narrow mode, suggesting similar seeing conditions to the Bohyun Observatory and aligning with a comparable 2014-2015 seeing profiling campaign in South Korea.

In this paper, autonomous separation methodology of faulted section based on network is proposed newly, which can minimize the outage effect as compared with the existing center-based faulted section separation method by determining and separating autonomously the faulted section by the free operation information exchange among IEDs on the feeder of distribution system. The all IEDs is designed in network in which client/server function is possible in order to separate autonomously the faulted section using PtP(Peer to Peer) communication. Also, Inference based solution of IED for the autonomous faulted section separation is designed by rules obtained from the analyzing results of distribution system topology. Here, the switch IEDs transmit on network the fault information utilizing on multi-casting communication method, at the fame time, determine selfly whether they operates or not by inferencing autonomously the faulted section using the inference-based solution after receiving the transmitted information. Finally, in order to verify the effectiveness and application possibility of the proposed methodology, the diversity fault cases are simulated for the typical distribution system.
In this paper we present a probabilistic method for source separation in the case here each source has a certain temporal structure. We tackle the problem of source separation by maximum pseudo-likelihood estimation, representing the latent function which characterizes the temporal structure of each source by a random process with a Gaussian prior. The resulting pseudo-likelihood of the data is Gaussian, determined by a mixing matrix as well as by the predictive mean and covariance matrix that can easily be computed by Gaussian process (GP) regression. Gradient-based optimization is applied to estimate the demixing matrix through maximizing the log-pseudo-likelihood of the data. umerical experiments confirm the useful behavior of our method, compared to existing source separation methods.

The problem of blind signal separation of independent sources consist in retrieving the source from the observation of unknown mixtures of unknown sources. In this paper, we propose a technique for blind signal separation that can extract original signals from their non-stationary mixtures observed in a ordinary room. The proposed method implements blind signal separation by minimizing a non-negative cost function that achieves the minimum when the second-order cross-correlation value of the observed signals becomes zero. The validity of the proposed method has been verified by a computer simulation and experiment that extracts two source signals from their mixtures observed in a normal room.
The phase transition behavior isothermal micro-phase separation kinetics of polyester-based thermoplastic elastomer were studied using the synchrotron X-ray scattering(SAXS) method. The structural changes occurring during heating period were investigated by determining the changes of the one-dimensional correlation function, interfacial thickness and Porod constant. Based on the abrupt increases of the domain spacing and interfacial thickness, a major structural change occurring well below the melting transition temperature is suggested. Those changes are explained in terms of melting of the thermodynamically unstable hard domains or/and the interdiffusion of the hard and soft segments in the interfacial regions. SAXS profile changes during the micro-phase separation process were also clearly observed at various temperatures and the separation rate was found to be sensitively affected by the temperature. The peak position of maximum scattering intensity stayed constant during the entire course of the phase separation process. The scattering data during the isothermal phase separation process was interpreted with the Cahn-Hilliard diffusion equation. The experimental data obtained during the early stage of the phase separation seems to satisfy the Cahn-Hilliard spinodal mechanism. The transition temperature obtained from the extrapolation of the diffusion coefficient to zero value turned out to be about 147$\pm$$2^{\circ}$, which is close to the order-disorder transition temperature obtained from the Porod analysis. The transition temperature was also estimated from the inveriant growth rate. By extrapolating the inveriant growth rate to zero, a transition temperature of about 145$\pm$$\pm$$2^{\circ}$ was obtained.
A hardware-acceleration architecture that separates virtual network functions (VNFs) and network control (called HSN) is proposed to solve the mismatch between the simple flow steering requirements and strong packet processing abilities of software-defined networking (SDN) forwarding elements (FEs) in SDN/network function virtualization (NFV) architecture, while improving the efficiency of NFV infrastructure and the performance of network-intensive functions. HSN makes full use of FEs and accelerates VNFs through two mechanisms: (1) separation of traffic steering and packet processing in the FEs; (2) separation of SDN and NFV control in the FEs. Our HSN prototype, built on NetFPGA-10G, demonstrates that the processing performance can be greatly improved with only a small modification of the traditional SDN/NFV architecture.

A method to measure the crack length in rubbery materials is described. Through dimensional analysis and experiments, an equation is derived to give the crack length as a function of the change of strain energy density in a region remote from the crack. The function is provided in a form of separated terms of loading and material, the validity of which is experimentally proved using separation parameters.
