  • Industrial processes and operations can not be accomplished independently but are connected with each others through suppliers and customer, and these ideas are fundamental notions of Life Cycle Assessment(LCA). This paper will introduce Life Cycle Assessment(LCA) in environment which is rising, and would like to build environmental management system using approach of Quality Function Deployment(QFD) and Safety Function Deployment(SFD) belonging to the assessment method.

  • Quality function deployment is an interdisciplinary team process of listening to customers to learn exactly what they want, and then using a logical system to determine how best to fulfill those needs with available resources. It is examined how to extend quality function deployment in this paper. The Pugh concept selection method, ACE(Attribute Categorization and Evaluation) Matrix, and an inventive problem solving method called TRIZ are discussed in relation with quality function deployment.

  • Fault tree analysis (FTA) is a widely used methodology for reliability analysis. The method is useful in that it suggests a very comprehensive way of describing the hierarchical relations of causes of faults and the corresponding results. However it is difficult to get appropriate fault trees for given products or systems without very profound knowledge and experience. This work aims to develop a methodology of fault tree construction using the results of function deployment for machine parts, which provides an objective way of preparing fault trees. The failure modes are defined to each function network generated by the function deployment method and the fault tree with respect to each viewpoint is constructed by arranging the failure modes. The fault tree is finally obtained by synthesizing the fault trees with respect to each viewpoint. The example of fault tree construction is also shown.

  • Psychological typology in analytic psychology is used not only for ascertaining the attitude or function of the conscious ego, but also as one blueprint for the individuation process. We all know the need to emphasize an awareness of the deployment and development of the superior function, the secondary function, the third function and the inferior function for the individuation process. This study has the goal of refining our awareness of this deployment and development of typological functions. The questionnaires of the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory and the Gray Wheelwrights Jungian Type Survey use the method of a forced-choice questionnaire, on the assumption of a bi-polarity hypothesis. But the questionnaire of the Singer-Loomis Type Deployment Inventory uses the Likert scale. It is able to show the deployment of the superior function, the secondary function, the third function and the inferior function visibly. It allows us to test the subject at stated periods for his/her development or change of psychological typology. The Singer-Loomis Type Deployment Inventory is a statistically superior method for showing Jung's psychological typology relative to both the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory and the Gray Wheelwrights Jungian Type Survey. I have studied how the original authors of The Singer-Loomis Type Deployment Inventory understood Jung's psychological typology. I produced the reliability and the item-discrimination power of the Korean Version of the Singer-Loomis Type Deployment Inventory. On the basis of this study, I produced the revised Korean version 1 of Singer-Loomis Type Deployment Inventory.

  • This paper describes a methodology of product function deployment for understanding product functions and generating systematic functional relation charts. The product function deployment is based on the designer's understanding of product functions. The method involves following steps: 1) definition of product primary function and flows of energy, material, and information, 2) construction of a product tree using key parts, 3) definition of functions and interactions of the functional units, 4) construction of 'from-to' relation matrices, 5) grouping of the parts, and 6) construction of functional relation charts. With this approach, functional relation charts can be generated such that complex product functions are easily understood. The functional relation chart of a refrigerator is generated as an example.

  • Qualify Function Deployment(QFD) is a technique which was born in Japan as a strategy for assuring that quality is built into new products. QFD was first used in 1972 by Kobe Shipyard of Mitsubish Heavy Industrials Ltd. and was then referred to as the quality tables. After QFD is proposed, it has been applied by both many large and small companies around the world. Many studies related QFD are performed till now but study related "cost-based QFD(QFCD)" hasn't been performed actively. If cost-based QFD is not performed. the produced results will be included possibility that is not significant as well as realistic. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to improve effectiveness and efficiency for product development's result through QFD by introducing QFCD's concept and execution procedure.

We have used Wasserman's normalization method and the analytical hierarchy process(AHP) to determine the intensity of the relationship between customer requirements and process design attributes. This paper also shows cost-quality model the tradeoff between quality and cost as a linear programming(LP) with new constraints that have designated special process required allocating firstly The cost-quality function deployment of piston ring is presented to illustrate the feasibility of such techniques.

  • Although the role of information system has been rapidly increasing in modern management, there have been few researches on the quality assurance in information system. This paper suggests how to apply quality function deployment(QFD) to information system development in order to build up user-centered quality assurance system. The main focus of the paper is how to design the linkages between management strategy, information systems, and the users using quality function deployment.
