  • Two instrumented full scale tieback walls in sand were constructed at to Geotechnical Experimentation Site located on the Texas A 51M University Riversic Measurements were obtained from the one row anchor wall and from the two row at different times during construction. The measured performance of the tieback walls is presented and investigated. The these walls at different construction stage is evaluated with respect to lateral wall. settlement of the ground, bending moment of the wall. axial load distribution and anchor load variation. The fundamental mechanism of a tieback wall in sand is and explained with the measurements.

  • This paper deals with the aerodynamic analysis and structural test under estimated loading condition for small composite blade, which is utilized in dual rotor wind turbine system. Firstly, the front and rear blades of dual rotor wind turbine system were modeled using reverse engineering method. And using finite volume method, the aerodynamic forces were analyzed at the rated and cutout wind speed to identify the pressure distribution on blades. And then, the full scale structural tests were conducted according to load and strength based methodology in IEC 61400-2 to identify the structural integrity of composite blade.

  • In this paper, we fabricated piezoresistive pressure sensor with dry etching technology which used ICP-RIE (inductively coupled plasma reactive ion etching) and etching delay technology which used SOI (silicon-on-insulator). Structure of the fabricated pressure sensor shows a square diaphragm connected to a frame which was vertically fabricated by dry etching process and a single-element four-terminal gauge arranged at diaphragm edge. Sensitivity of the fabricated sensor was about 3.5 mV/V kPa at 1 kPa full-scale. Measurable resolution of the sensor was not exceeding 20 Pa. The nonlinearity of the fabricated pressure sensor was less than 0.5 %F.S.O. at 1 kPa full-scale.

  • This paper is investigates the separation shock of payload fairing. Separation test of subscale PLF using half separation device and half PLA is performed. Resulting shock loads at equipment bay and fairing joint are measured. Pyroshock estimation is performed using AUTOSEA Pyroshock Module. Input data to analysis model is obtained from the separation test results of subscale PLF. And model of AUTOSEA is updated comparing results between tests and analysis.. This enables us to validate the AUTOSEA model. Tuned model of subscale PLF and separation device is used to update full scale model, and the shock analysis result of full scale model is estimated in this paper. This paper also discusses the results regarding the difficulty of structural modeling and its numerical implementation in AutoSEA2 Software.

  • The essential difference between precast concrete structures and in situ concrete structures lies in the precast concrete panel structres, it is necessary to understand the bahavior of joints and their implications regarding overall structural behavior. Form such a point of view, this experimental study observes the components and joint behavior under the stress states expected of precast concrete panel structures subjected to lateral loads. 2 full-scale subassemblages were fabricated and tested. The test results show that the characteristics of horizontsl joints and wall coupling beams mainly govern the whole hahavior of P.C. structres.

  • Evolutionary operation is a useful tool for improving full-scale manufacturing process by systematically changing the levels of the process variables without jeopardizing the product. This paper presents a system design for the evolutionary operation software called 'evolutionary optimizer'. Evolutionary optimizer consists of four modules: factorial design, many variables, mixture, and mean/dispersion. Context diagram, data flow diagram and entity-relationship modelling are used to systematically design the evolutionary optimizer system.

  • A polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)-based film speaker is successfully fabricated with enhanced bass sound by incorporating buckled nanospring carbon nanotubes (NS-CNTs) as fillers. Various concentrations up to 1-7 wt% of uniformly dispersed buckled NS-CNTs are loaded to increase the beta (β)-phase fraction, crystallinity, and dielectric constant of the speaker, and this results in the bass part enhancement of about 19 dB full scale (dBFS) at 7 wt% filler loading of the piezoelectric film speaker.

  • In spite of many efforts, in the design of high speed fishing vessel the sea-keeping performance improvement without neglection of resistance-propulsion performance by hull form itself has its limitations. In this paper, the development of sea-keeping improving appendage pitching and trim improver for high speed planing hull on behalf of the hull form of fishing vessel has been introduced. The developed appendage verified its effectiveness in the full scale test and also has been proved the better resistance performance in the model test and full scale test.

  • The performance of crash cushion systems is certified through the full scale crash tests by the standard for installation and maintenance guidelines for roadside safety appurtenance. The impact severities of impacting vehicles in collision with crash cushion systems are rated by indices THIV and PHD. Crash test results are considered to study the performance of three crash cushion systems. In case of the frontal impact or the offset frontal impact, the results show that THIV values of three systems are very close to the threshold limit for the occupant protection. Also, the results show that PHD would be improper for the occupant protection performance index. In order to improve the occupant protection performance of crash cushions, ASI needs to be included in the impact severity index.
