Full-Wave Analysis of Microwave Amplifiers with Nonlinear Device by the FDTD Algorithm

  • This paper presents the full wave analysis of microwave circuits with nonlinear device using the finite difference time domain method. The equivalent current source is used to model nonlinear device and all the electric field components at the nonlinear device are updated by FDTD algorithm. The currents and voltages of nonlinear device are calculated by the state equations and iteration method. To validate the proposed method, the S-parameters of NEC NE72089 MESFET in various conditions are analyzed and the results are compared with those of the ADS. The proposed method is applied to the analysis of a microwave amplifier, which includes NEC NE72089 MESFET. The analysis results obtained by the present method show good agreement with those of the ADS.

  • In this paper, the transmission characteristics of the multi-layered composite material with wire mesh and honeycomb core for aircraft applications have been analyzed with the proposed method. The proposed method converts the conductive wire mesh into effective layer, while for the dielectric honeycomb core, effective permittivity has been derived based on volume fraction with the proposed method. The proposed method has been verified through comparison with full-wave simulation and revealed excellent. In addition, the calculation time of the proposed method is a few order of magnitude faster in comparison with the full-wave simulation.

Coupling mechanism of a loop-type ground radiation antenna

  • The coupling mechanism of a loop-type ground radiation antenna is investigated in this paper. We use the equivalent circuit model of the antenna and a full-wave simulation to explain the coupling mechanism of the antenna. We analyze the effects of various antenna parameters on the coupling between the antenna element and the ground plane to examine the conditions for enhancing the coupling. Based on simulations with the equivalent circuit model, full-wave simulations, and measurements, we propose optimal design considerations for the antenna. The findings of this study will aid the design and understanding of loop-type ground radiation antennas for mobile devices.

공진 점등 기능과 효율 향상을 위한 HID 램프의 저주파수 구형파 2단 전자식 안정기 (Digital Control of Low-Frequency Square-Wave Two-Stage Electronic Ballast for HID Lamps with Resonant Ignition and High Efficiency)

  • In this paper, electronic ballast using resonant inverter for HID lamp is designed and implemented. The proposed electronic ballast is used the soft switching technology ZVS(Zero Voltage Switching) to reduce turn-on and turn-off loss. The ignition of proposed electronic ballast is achieved by controlling a full bridge inverter which is consisted of LC filter for resonance. After ignition the ballast operates as a low frequency square wave inverter by controlling a full bridge inverter as a buck converter. After ignition at resonant frequency of $f_o$=160kHz, the switching frequency of a buck converter is consisted of 50kHz of high frequency and 170Hz of low frequency. This is for attenuating high frequency harmonics and avoiding acoustic resonance. The experimental results show that electronic ballast using resonant inverter is operated stably.

RESULTS OF OBSERVATION IN HABITAT OF THE SANBANNSE LAGOON AT TOKYO BAY

  • The sea water and the soil of surface zone in lagoon have many physical relations between each other by both physical phenomena such as tidal motion and wave action, and activity of a creature which lives in soil zone. The soil zone has an activity of filtering the sea water at lowering tide and also the organic materials in sea water are supplied into the soil. And small creatures such as small crab eat organic materials. Usually the surface zone of lagoon becomes under the sea water in two times of a day and also is coming in two times under the sunshine and it becomes dries up conditions. Authors made the field observation at Sanbannse lagoon in Tokyo bay in several times between 2002 to 2004. The observation has been done in a half period of tide in October and November 2002 and also full tide observation is made in July 2, 2003 in summer and November 26, 2003 in autumn. In 2004, three times observations of full tide has been made in three times as June 22, July 20 and December 14. This report is the summary of results on these observations focusing on the soil surface zone and sea water at under ground and wave breaking zone.

총톤수 100톤급 활주형선의 활주 전 저항성능 개선에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Improvement of Resistance Performance at Pre-planing Condition for G/T 100 ton Class Planing Hull Form)

  • This study was carried out at the CWC of Chosun university for the purpose of resistance performance improvement of planing hull, and the results of the tests were confirmed cooperatively with WJFEL. G/T 100 ton class planing hull form was selected, and the improvement of hull form including appendages were performed by using some model test techniques. The model test scope comprises resistance relative tests including wave profile observation, trim and sinkage measurement and flow visualization tests at full load and trial conditions for one bare hull and for two appended hulls. The final wedge and spray strip combined with improved hull form showed about 1.0 knot speed improvement at both of full and trial conditions, and outstanding improvement for fore wave phenomena.

응력파(應力波) 측정(測定)에 의(依)한 수종(數種)의 국산(國産) 침엽수재(針葉樹材) 및 열대(熱帶) 활엽수재(闊葉樹材)의 휨성질(性質) 평가(評價) (Evaluation of Static Bending Properties for Some Domestic Softwoods and Tropical Hardwoods Using Sonic Stress Wave Measurements)

  • Stress wave velocity, wave impedance, and stress wave elasticity of small, clear bending specimens of five domestic softwoods (Pinus densiflora, Pinus koraiensis, Chamaecyparis obtusa, Cryptomeria japonica, and Larix leptolepis) and four tropical hardwoods(Kempas, Malas, Taun, and Terminalia) were correlated with static bending modulus of elasticity(MOE) and modulus of rupture(MOR). The degree of correlation between stress wave parameters and static bending properties was dependent on wood species tested. Stress wave elasticity and wave impedance were better predictors for static bending properties than stress wave velocity for each species individually and for softwood or hardwood species taken as a group, even though elasticity and impedance were nearly equally correlated with static bending properties apparently. Based upon the correlation coefficient between stress wave parameters and static properties, stress wave elasticity and wave impedance were found as stress wave parameters which can be used for the purpose of the reliable and successful prediction of bending properties. The degree of correlation between static MOE and MOR was also different according to wood species tested. Static MOE was nearly as well correlated with MOR as was stress wave elasticity. The results of this research are encouraging and can be considered as a basis for further work using full-size lumber. From the results of this study, it was concluded that stress wave measurements could provide useful predictions of static bending properties and was a feasible method for machine stress grading of domestic softwoods and tropical hardwoods tested in this study.

스펙트럴 영역에서 DGS 슬롯 임피던스 특성 해석 및 LPF 응용 (Impedance Analysis of DGS Slot in Spectral Domain and Its Application of LPF(Low Pass Filter))

  • 본 논문은 스펙트럴 영역에서 마이크로스트립 선로의 접지면에 있는 DGS 슬롯의 임피던스 특성을 구하고, 이를 스텝 임피던스 마이크로스트립 저역 통과 필터 특성 개선에 응용하였다. 슬롯 해석에 사용한 방법은 슬롯에 의한 불연속으로 인한 전압과 스펙트럴 영역에서 self-reaction을 이용한 방법이다. 이 방법을 이용한 수치 해석 결과는 full-wave 방법의 결과와 비교해도 정확하다는 것을 보였다. 그리고 기존 스텝 임피던스 마이크로스트립 저역 통과 필터의 주파수 특성을 개선하기 위해서, 균일한 또는 비균일한 DGS 슬롯을 갖는 필터를 설계 제작하였다. 실험 결과를 통해, 제안된 스텝 임피던스 저역 통과 필터는 기존 필터보다 차단 대역이 넓어지고 차단주파수 이후 급격한 차단 특성과 같은 개선된 필터 특성을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 고 출력 전자기장(HPEM)의 영향은 시스템의 오작동, 고장 및 장비의 심각한 훼손을 야기시킬 수 있다. 따라서 업무 환경이 각종 전자 장비들로 대체 및 구성되어 가는 요즘, 인명과 재산을 보호하기 위해 고 출력 전자장에 대한 대책 연구가 필요하다. 이에 반해, 위상학적 해석 방법(topological analysis)은 해석 대상 구조에 대해 전자장의 이동 경로와 해석을 원하는 지점을 단순화시켜 해석하며, 대표적으로 Baum-Liu-Tesche(BLT) 방정식 기반의 해석법과 구역 설정(zoning)에 기반한 해석 방법 그리고 확률에 기초하고 있는 Power Balance Method(PWB)를 연동시킴으로써 효율적으로 해석할 수 있다. PWB 방법은 기존의 EM 시뮬레이션 방법의 비효율성을 극복하기 위한 하나의 대안으로 제시된 방법이다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 위상학적 해석 방법에 적용되는 기초기술을 바탕으로 대형 구조에 적용될 수 있는 전자파 해석 방법을 제안한다. 그리고 최종적으로 PWB 방법과 full wave analysis 방법을 비교함으로써 PWB 방법의 장점과 이 방법의 도입 필요성에 대해 제안한다.
