A Study on the FB-ZVS DC/DC Converter for Auxiliary Power Supply in Electric Vehicles (전기자동차 보조전원용 FB-ZVS 직류-직류 변환기에 관한 연구)

  • A FB-ZVS(Full Bridge Zero Voltage Switching) PWM DC/DC converter for electric vehicles is simulated and implemented in this paper. The converter considered is a step-down DC/DC converter with the ratings of 312/13.5V and 1.35kW. The steady state operation of this converter is divided into six operating modes in case of continuous current mode and eight operating modes in case of discontinuous current mode. Digital simulations using PSpice are carried out to verify the steady-state analysis. A prototype converter was built in the laboratory. MOSFETs were used for swithching devices and fast recovery diodes to reduce the charge storage problem of a pn-junction.

  • An EA(Evolutionary Acquisition) strategy is based on the systems engineering. It is a preferred approach to provide operationally useful capabilities to the warfighter much more quickly than single-step to full capability strategy. Recently, DoD is trying to apply the acquisition process based on the systems engineering. In spite of these trends, efforts of domestic defense acquisition society to this strategy are insufficient. Although an EA strategy has many benefits, there are many constraints to apply it. This study analyzes these constraints and presents applications of the EA strategy to defense R&D programs.

Advanced LDC Test Bed Using Energy Recovery Technique for HEVs

  • This paper reports the development of test bed with the energy recovering technique using two-step boost converter. The device is utilized for LDC aging test of Hyundai Motor's LPI AVANTE HEV in mass production. The developed power recycle type test bed is designed as 1.5 kW class to test up to the maximum load power of LDC and is also designed to supply scant power supply up to 500 W after power recycle. The theoretical design analysis and operational characteristics analysis results of test bed are reported, and its practicality and reliability are verified through the test result. Also, the finally developed test bed confirms approximately 79~85 % energy saving effect compared to the usual traditional aging test system.

  • In this paper, the solid state pulsed power modulator developed in KERI, which is based on IGBT technologies are overviewed. During last ten years, several kinds of solid state modulators were developed in KERI such as IGBT stacks with step up transformer, full IGBT stack based marx generator, modified IGBT marx generator and high repetitive solid state modulator. Basic principle of the design is described and each pros and cons are compared. KERI's solid state pulsed power modulators has lot of advantages for industrial pulsed power application focused on everlasting life cycle and high repetitive, and shows superior arching protection ability.

  • 비 절연형 PCS를 사용하였을 때 절연을 할 수 없기 때문에 안전에 대한 위험이 있고 손실이 커서 전체적인 효율이 낮다. 본 논문에서 듀얼 풀 브릿지 컨버터를 사용하여 구현하였다. 각 소자들의 전압, 전류 정격을 줄일 수 있으며 전기적인 절연으로 인하여 안전하다. 또한 승압 비가 홀로 사용했을 때 보다 높으며 고주파 변압기의 턴비를 줄일 수 있다. 본 논문은 1.5[kW]급 듀얼 풀 브릿지 컨버터와 단상 인버터를 이용한 PCS를 설계하고 설계한 파라미터를 구현하여 실험을 통해 검증하였다.

  • One of the most important things in the research for MIN-based switch operation the management scheme of network cycle. In the traditional MIN, when the receving buffer module is empty, the sell has to move forward the front-most buffer position by the characteristic of the conventional FIFO queue. However, most of buffer modules are almost always full for practical amount of input loads. The long network cycle of the traditional scheme is thus a substantial waste of bandwidth. In this paper, we propose the modeling method for the input and multi-buffered MIN with unit step buffering scheme, In spite of simplicity, simulation results show that the proposed model is very accurate comparing to previous modeling approaches in terms of throughput and the trend of delay.

  • The stereoscopic vision system is the algorithm to obtain the depth of target object of stereo vision image. This paper presents an efficient disparity matching method using nagao filter, octree color quantization and dynamic programming algorithm. we describe methods for performing color quantization on full color RGB images, using an octree data structure. This method has the advantage of saving a lot of data. We propose a preprocessing stereo matching method based on Nagao-filter algorithm using color information. using the nagao filter, we could obtain effective depth map and using the octree color quantization, we could reduce the time of computation.

  • The loss of water in the carbon steel balls and water region of the end shield for CANDU 6 reactor could lead to significant temperature gradient through the end shield structure which amy result in the excessive deformation. With an assumed end shield drained scenario, the heat deposition rates were calculated through the end shield associated with the central fuel channel during full power operation as an initial step to thermal stress analysis. The drained case was compared with that of water present normal case in therms of heat deposition rater and the total heating throughout the end shield regions. The compared results show that the heat deposition and the total heating remain almost the same between the two cases. It was found that the change of volume integrated flux in the end shield regions due to the loss of water contribute a negligible effect on the heat deposition in this region.

  • Electromagnetic waves potentially have been used to heat overdense nuclear fusion plasmas through a double mode conversion from ordinary to slow extraordinary and finally to Electron Bernstein Wave (EBW) modes, OSXB. This scheme is efficient and has not any plasma density limit of electron cyclotron resonance heating due to cut-off layer. The efficiency of conversion depends on the isotropic launching angles of the microwaves with the plasma parameters. In this article, a two-step mode conversions of OSXB power transmission efficiency affected by the fast extraordinary (FX) loses at upper hybrid frequency are studied. In addition, the kinetic (hot) dispersion relation of a overdense plasma in a full wave analysis of a OSXB in Wendelstein 7X (W7-X) stellarator plasma has been numerically simulated. The influence of plasma dependent parameters such as finite Larmor radius, electron thermal velocity and electron cyclotron frequency are represented.

  • Cloud Computing is a fast developing domain in computer system architecture which enables dynamically scalable and virtualized resources to its users. Spot Cloud is the next evolutionary step in this field which allows the cloud computing resources to be treated as a market commodity. Cloud computing vendors will now be able to put their un used computational resources for sale using the singular access platform provided by Spot Cloud. Meanwhile customers will be able to buy/sell these resources according to their requirements. This paper analyzes the idea of Spot Cloud and the anticipated impact it will have on Cloud Computing globally. The paper also presents the risks and inherent barriers associated with this idea and how they might hinder the development of Spot Cloud to its full potential.
