  • Substation Automation System is basically operating throughout communicative services among IEC 61850 based devices. So, minimum requirement in order to install the system in the substation is to verify server and client conformance of IEDs and HMIs according to the IEC 61850 standard. Even though UCA IUG issued IEC 61850 conformance test procedures for both the server and the client, Much of the test is limited to IEDs as server and there is no client-only testing tool except KEMA server test tool sets. this study aims to develop IEC 61850 client testing system for verifying the full communication conformance of the substation automation system and this paper describes the design and implementation of the testing system.

  • HTS Transformer developing is developing a power distribution and transmission class HTS transformer that is one of the 21st century superconducting frontier projects. Therefore, we prepared the model, that is Z continuous winding from Kapton insulated Cu tape for a small simulated the HTS transformer. For the development of electrical insulation design of a HTS transformer with Z continuous winding, we have been discussed insulation composition and investigated breakdown characteristics such as breakdown of liquid $N_2(LN_2)$, polymer and surface flashover on FRP and breakdown-surface combination in $LN_2$. Also we have been designed and manufactured a bobbin that has spiral slot for the Z continuous winding. The Z continuous winding mini-model from Kapton film insulated Cu tape for simulated 22.9kV class HTS transformer has been constructed using 0.1 % breakdown strength obtained by Weibull distribution. The widing model was measured their insulation characteristics such as ac (50kV, 1min) and impulse (154kV, $1.2\times50{\mu}s$ full wave, 3 times) withstand test and its excellent performance was confirmed.

  • This study focuses on prioritizing the technology needed for the Gwangyang Port automated terminal. While the world's leading ports are moving forward with the implementation of full unmanned automation and digital smartisation, South Korea is still in the early stages of this process. In order to enhance domestic smart port capabilities and technological competitiveness, the government is promoting the construction of a fully automated terminal at Gwangyang Port. This terminal will test various advanced technologies in the domestic port sector and build infrastructure capable of responding to increasingly sophisticated technologies. The study defines the concept of a smart port for Gwangyang Port and derives an advanced technology pool from domestic and international research. Expert survey and AHP analysis were used to calculate the weight of each technology attribute based on characteristics and urgency. The integration of these weights and importance scores determined the priority of technology adoption. The results showed that automation and optimisation technologies had the highest priority, while environmental and energy-related technologies ranked lower.

  • Now the CAN(controller Area Network) is using electronic modules as a serial communication which is very robust to noise. Especially the CAN is using for automotive part that very popular in which automotive electronic control module, engine controller unit, sensor modules, etc. but the CAN has the order of priority to linking node and also has fault confinement so using in these features that is applied to in factory automation product line. The CAN communication is basically very robust to electric noise so varied applying to others part. In this paper, we suggest to CAN interface for embedded system that is possible for error detection using two CAN nodes on Hi-speed, full-CAN.

  • It is essential to predict the welding deformation at assembly stage, to increase productivity through mechanization and automation effectively. A practical analysis method appled for production engineering was proposed to simulate the deformation of arc welding, with an analytical model using finite element method solving thermal-elastic-plastic behavior. In this research, for accurate assembling, 3-D thermal-elastic-plastic finite element model is used to simulate the out-of-plane deformation caused by arc welding. Efforts have been made to find out the efficient method to improve the reliability and accuracy of the numerical calculation. Each of theories of small and large deformation is applied in solving 3-D thermal-elastic-plastic problem to compare with their efficiency about calculation imes and solution accuracy. When solid elements are used in a bending problem of a plate, phenomenon that the predictive deformation is more than that of actual survey is observed. To prevent this phenomenon, reduced integration method for element is employed instead of full integration that is generally used in 3-D thermal-elastic-plastic analysis.

  • It is the most important subject to figure out characteristics of the wastewater inflows of sewerage treatment plant(STP) when situation models are applied to operation of the biological processes and in the automatic control based on ICA(Instrument, Control and Automation). For the purposes, real-time influent monitoring method has been applied by using on-line monitoring equipments for the process optimization in conventional STP. Since, the influent of STP is consist of complex components such as, COD, BOD, TN, $NH_4$-N, $NO_3$-N, TP and $PO_4$-P. MRA2(Microbial Respiration Analyzer 2), which is capable of real-time analyzing of wastewater characteristics is used to overcome the limitations and defects of conventional online monitoring equipments in this study. Rapidity, accuracy and stability of developed MRA2 are evaluated and compared with the results from on-line monitoring equipments for seven months after installation in Full-scale STP.

  • This paper aims at developing a torque model for the high-speed tapping with small-diameter taps. As recent industries such as automobile and information technology grows, taps smaller than 5mm in diameter are needed much more. In that occasion, the friction force between a tap surface and a workpiece plays much more important role in the tapping torque than in he larger tapping. Tapping mechanism was analysed based on the tap geometry. It has two steps : one is a forward cutting composed of the chamfered threading and full threading and the other is the backward cutting. The torque by the cutting force in the chamfered threading is calculated using the cutting area and the specific cutting force while the torque by the friction force, which is rather dominant than the cutting force both in the full threading and in the backward cutting, is calculated using the normal force on the threads and the friction coefficient. The experiment has shown that the results by the proposed torque model fit quite well with the acutal measurements within the error of 10%.

  • This paper proposes a new position sensorless drive for brushless DC (BLDC) motors. Typical sensorless control methods such as the scheme with the back-EMF detection method show high performance only at a high speed range because the magnitude of the back-EMF is dependent upon the rotor speed. This paper presents a new solution that estimates the rotor position by using an unknown input observer over a full speed range. In the proposed method, a trapezoidal back-EMF is modelled as an unknown input and the proposed unknown input observer estimating a line-to-line back-EMF in real time makes it possible to detect the rotor position. In particular, this observer has high performance at a low speed range in that the information of a rotor position is calculated independently of the rotor speed without an additional circuit or complicated operation process. Simulations and experiments have been carried out for the verification of the proposed control scheme.

  • According to the industrial development welding technology is necessitated to develop in the direction of full automation, high efficiency, energy saving, and full safety. In this study, thus, a simple holder ampere controller for welding systems is developed and applied to arc welders and its capability is examined and tested. The results are as follows: 1. It has a simple structure, since the primary AC power for the welder can be directly control led using a triac. 2. It can control the electric power strength in several steps as well as on and off easily, since a small-sized variable resistance is installed in the small controller on the welding holder. 3. In real field applications a welding system with this controller increases the working efficiency greatly compare to the conventional arc welders without the system, because the controller can control the ampere onsite far from the main power supply. 4. It can reduce the probability of the electrical mishap due to electrical leakage, since the electricity is disconnected as soon as the switch is off or welding person's hand is taken off from the welder after the work or for rest. 5. It can control the welding depth in the beginning and do the crater treatment well in the ending of welding, since it always supplies the relevent amount of electrical current. Therefore, it can improve the mechanical properties of the welding zone.

  • The paper deals with the problem related to the modelling of riveted assemblies for crashworthiness analysis of full-scale complete aircraft structures. Comparisons between experiments and standard FE computations on high-energy accidental situations onto aluminium riveted panels show that macroscopic plastic strains are not sufficiently localised in the FE shells connected to rivet elements. The main reason is related to the structural embrittlement caused by holes, which are currently not modelled. Consequently, standard displacement FE models do not succeed in initialising and propagating the rupture in sheet metal plates and along rivet rows as observed in the experiments. However, the literature survey show that it is possible to formulate super-elements featuring defects that both give accurate singular strain fields and are compatible with standard displacement finite elements. These super-elements can be related to the displacement model of the hybrid-Trefftz principle of the finite element method, which is a kind of domain decomposition method. A feature of hybrid-Trefftz finite elements is that they are mainly used for elastic computations. It is thus proposed to investigate the possibility of formulating a hybrid displacement finite element, including the effects of a hole, dedicated to crashworthiness analysis of full-scale aeronautic structures.
