  • The fuel cell system has inherent limitation such as slow response time and low fuel economy especially at the low power region, and thus, the battery system has come to be used to compensate for the fuel cell system. This type of hybrid configuration has many advantages, however, the energy management strategy is essentially required. The work in this paper presents survey on recent power management strategies for fuel cell hybrid electric vehicles. For three power management strategies: basic control method. object function-based control method, and fuzzy logic-based control method. each strategy is reviewed and discussed with other strategy.

  • In this paper, an operation algorithm for the fuel cell-battery hybrid power system is proposed. As the output current slope of the fuel cell is normally limited to protect the fuel cells' defection, efficient power distribution algorithm between the fuel cell and battery is very important for the successful hybrid control operation. For the experimentation, a 1kW dc-dc converter with 500W fuel cell stack and 1kWh Li-polymer battery is implemented.

  • Therefore, with this development assignment we'd like to develop the hybrid system combining 800W DMFC (Direct Methanol Fuel Cell) and 1.6kW of Lithium secondary battery pack which can be applied to the most common small cart. a scooter, to secure the development capability of hundreds of Watts DMFC, the high-capacity Lithium secondary battery pack, the technology of BMS (Battery Management System) and the development technology of hybrid system. DMFC, in fact, has lower energy efficiency than PEMFC (Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell); however, it has several advantages in terms of fuel storage and use. It is pretty easy to be stored and used without any additional colling and heating devices because of its insensitive liquid methanol to temperature. In conclusion, DMFC system is the most suitable device for small mobile vehicles.

  • Recently, smart grid for solving energy problems have been receiving growing attention. Also, renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic and fuel cell as future energy for realizing smart grid have been widely studied. On the other hand, hybrid structures have been proposed since the output power of these renewable energy sources is usually dependent on weather conditions. This paper proposes a hybrid system involving a proper photovoltaic in the hybrid system, Polymer Elecrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell with water electrolyzer and ultracapacitor. The results of simulation and output of the proposed model are established and analysed by Matlab/Simulink and SimPowerSystems.

  • Development of renewable energy is promoted to achieve sustainability. So researchers are seeking and developing a new, clean, safe and renewable energy. Fuel cell energy and solar cell energy are expected to be one of the solutions. The emissions of fuel cell is low, the by-product is low, the by-product is only pure water. This paper presents the efficiency of the hybrid system organized with fuel cell and solar cell in faraday law.

  • FuelCell/Battery hybrid power systems were studied to develop high efficient zero-emission fuel cell electric vehicles. Fuel cells were used as an auxiliary energy source and batteries were used as a transient power source. The fuel cell system is used to supply the average power demand. Dynamic response of the hybrid systems was simulated using PSPICE program and also tested experimentally. The results can be used to design the interface module and to determine the power requirement between the fuel cell unit and the battery pack.

  • This paper describes an on-going national R&D program for the development of a gas turbine/fuel cell hybrid power generation system and related R&D activities. The final goal of this program is to develop a 200kW-c1ass gas turbine/fuel cell hybrid power generation system and achieve high efficiency over $60\%$ (AC/LHV). In the first phase of the development, a sub-scaled 60kW-class hybrid system based on the 50kW-class microturbine and the 5kW SOFC will be developed for the purpose of concept proof of the hybrid system. Core components such as the microturbine and the SOFC system are being developed and parallel preparation for system integration is being carried out. Before the core components are assembled in the final system. operating characteristics of a hybrid system are investigated from a simulated system where a turbocharger (microturbine simulator) and a modified fuel cell burner test facility (fuel cell simulator) are employed. The 60kW demonstration unit will be built up and operated to provide the valuable information for the preparation of the final full scale 200kW hybrid system.

  • This paper describes an simulation method to utilize the hybrid system with fuel cell and battery. The hybrid system has unique advantage to manage energy state between high energy system (fuel cell) and high power system (battery) according to various type of load. For proper design, the hybrid system is modelled and simulated. Especially, battery SOC is used as an important control parameter to decide the energy control.

  • Fuel cell hybrid electric vehicle is an attractive solution to reduce pollutants, such as noise and carbon dioxide emission. This study presents an approach for energy management and control algorithm based on energetic macroscopic representation for a fuel cell hybrid electric vehicle that is powered by proton exchange membrane fuel cell, battery and supercapacitor. First, the detailed model of the fuel cell hybrid electric vehicle, including fuel cell, battery, supercapacitor, DC-DC converters and powertrain system, are built on the energetic macroscopic representation. Next, the power management strategy was applied to manage the energy among the three power sources. Moreover, the control scheme that was based on back-stepping sliding mode control and inversed-model control techniques were deduced. Simulation tests that used a worldwide harmonized light vehicle test procedure standard driving cycle showed the effectiveness of the proposed control method.
