New negative capacitance front-end for bioimpedance measurements (생체 임피던스 측정을 위한 새로운 네가티브 커패시턴스 프론트 엔드)

  • A convenient, tunable loop-gain negative impedance circuit that increases input impedance of a front-end in a bioimpedance measurement has been proposed. Since the proposed circuit comprises wide-band operational amplifiers, selecting operational amplifiers is easy, while an operational amplifier of proper bandwidth should be chosen to use conventional circuit. Also, since loop-gain can be controlled by a feedback resistor connected serially with a feedback capacitor, loop-gain is tunable with a potentiometer. The input impedance of the proposed circuit is two times larger than that of the conventional circuit. Furthermore, closed loop phase response of the proposed circuit is better than that of the conventional circuit or without a negative capacitance circuit. The implemeted, proposed circuit showed stable operation and a zero input capacitance.

  • In this paper, we propose a noncoherent On-Off Keying (OOK) Ultra Wide Band (UWB) system based on power detection with noise power calibration for low power applications. The proposed UWB system achieves good bit error rate performance which is favorably comparable to that of the system using the ideal adaptive threshold, while maintaining simple receiver structure, In addition, low power Analog Front-End (AFE) blocks for the proposed noncoherent UWB transceiver are proposed and verified using CMOS technology. Simulation results on the pulse generator, delay time generator and 1-bit Analog-to-Digital (AID) converter show feasibility of the proposed UWB AFE system.

  • This paper has been studied about UWB(Ulra wide-band)'s LNA(Low Noise Amplifier) and Mixer. The UWB is a new technology that is being pursed for both commercial and military purposes. Direct conversion architectures that convert RF signals have potential to achieve such terminals, because they eliminate the need for non-programmable image-rejection filters and IF channel filters. And this architecture promises better performance in power, size, and cost than existing heterodyne - based receivers. This Receiver architectures combines low-noise amplifier, mixer. And then this paper has designed suitable UWB's LNA and Mixer.

  • 기존의 태양광 시스템은 대체로 고정된 형태로 사용되었지만 태양광 시스템의 응용분야가 확장됨에 따라 전기자동차, 웨어러블 기기 등의 이동식 태양광 시스템 또한 많이 개발되고 있다. 이동식 태양광 시스템의 경우 불균일한 태양빛에 많이 노출되며, 이러한 불균일한 태양빛은 극심한 시스템 효율 저하를 야기한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 시스템 효율 저하 문제를 해결하기 위해 differential power processing (DPP) 컨버터를 병렬로 적용한 photovoltaic (PV) 충전 가방을 제시하였다. DPP 컨버터는 PV 충전 가방이 불균일한 태양빛에 노출되어도, 각각의 태양전지가 고유의 최대 전력점에서 작동하도록 제어하는 역할을 한다. PV 충전 가방은 4개의 태양전지로 구성되어 있으며 충분한 태양빛 아래, 5 W의 출력전력을 가질 수 있다. PV 충전 가방은 하나의 front-end 컨버터와 4개의 DPP 컨버로 구성되었으며, P-SIM 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통해 front-end 컨버터와 DPP 컨버터의 정상 작동을 입증하였다. 또한 동일한 태양빛에 노출된 경우, 기존의 연결 방법 중 하나인 병렬 배열은 1.49 W의 출력 전력을 가진 반면, DPP 시스템은 4.35 W의 출력 전력을 가져 약 3배 높은 출력 전력을 확인하였다.

  • Flow analysis of automobile front-end cooling fan are numerically investigated. The Navier-Stokes equations and the continuity equation are solved in the flow domain. The Reynolds stresses are modelled using the $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model. Flow and pressure characteristics around the fan are investigated. The pressure sharply increases through the fan. Pressure variations on the pressure and suction sides of the fan are well represented in the calculations. The flow streamlines in the blade passage are nearly parallel to the blade.

  • This paper proposes a possibility of using active front-end rectifier with the SVPWM method for induction motor speed control, which is applicable to small electric propulsion boats. The proposed method can produce a more precise sinusoidal input current waveform and a higher power factor than conventional methods. Its speed, torque, input current, DC voltage, and load current control performance are similar to or better than those of conventional methods. Through computer simulations using the PSIM program, the validity of the proposed method was verified by comparing and analyzing the characteristics of the conventional methods and the proposed method.

Novel New Approach to Improve Noise Figure Using Combiner for Phase-Matched Receiver Module with Wideband Frequency of 6-18 GHz

  • This paper proposes the design and measurement of a 6-18 GHz front-end receiver module that has been combined into a one- channel output from a two-channel input for electronic warfare support measures (ESM) applications. This module includes a limiter, high-pass filter (HPF), power combiner, equalizer and amplifier. This paper focuses on the design aspects of reducing the noise figure (NF) and matching the phase and amplitude. The NF, linear equalizer, power divider, and HPF were considered in the design. A broadband receiver based on a combined configuration used to obtain low NF. We verify that our receiver module improves the noise figure by as much as 0.78 dB over measured data with a maximum of 5.54 dB over a 6-18 GHz bandwidth; the difference value of phase matching is within $7^{\circ}$ between ports.

  • This paper proposes a noise reduction-based speech detection method under telephone channel environments. We adopt the AURORA front-end noise reduction algorithm based on the two-stage mel-warped Wiener filter approach as a preprocessor for the frequency domain speech detector. The speech detector utilizes mel filter-bank based useful band energies as its feature parameters. The preprocessor firstly removes the adverse noise components on the incoming noisy speech signals and the speech detector at the next stage detects proper speech regions for the noise-reduced speech signals. Experimental results show that the proposed noise reduction-based speech detection method is very effective in improving not only the performance of the speech detector but also that of the subsequent speech recognizer.

  • This paper presents the characteristics of the crankshaft speed fluctuations. To analyze them, the speed waveforms were measured both at the flywheel and at the front end of the engine. The speed waveform measured at the flywheel shows better result than at the front end one, because of the torsional vibration and the auxiliary components. And the patterns of the speed fluctuations are classified into three region, such as low load, middle load and high load region with the variations of the loads. Additionally, as the engine speeds increase and the loads decrease, the analysis of the speed becomes more difficult due to lower variation of the speed. And in all the regions, the main frequency component of the speed fluctuation is firing frequency.
