HID(high intensity discharge)lamps are high pressure mercury lamp, high pressure sodium lamp and metalhalide lamp. metalhalide lamp among these lamps has considered to be one of the most effective artificial light sources and this lamp has good efficiency, good color rendition and good focusing capability, But the shortcorning of metalhalide lamp is known as acoustic resonance phenomena in the discharge tube when lighted by electronic ballast and then acoustic resonance cause various problems such as the arc instability, light output fluctuations. In this paper, to reduce the acoustic resonence phenomena, the electronic ballast was designed by three methods for high frequency operation wish frequency-modulated sinusodial waves in acoustic resonance frequency band. These frequency-modulated methods are resonance frequency and resonance frequency, resonance frequency and non-resonance frequency non-resonance frequency and non-resonance frequency Experiment results could't show the Presence of acoustic resonance visually and it proved that the resonance-generating conditions can be avoided by continuously changing the two operating frequencies in acoustic resonance band (20.59kHz∼94.2kHz).
In this paper, a blind symbol timing offset (STO) estimation method is proposed for offset quadrature phase-shift keying (OQPSK) modulated signals, which also works for other linearly modulated signals (LMS) such as binary-PSK, QPSK, 𝜋/4-QPSK, and minimum-shift keying. There are various methods available for blind STO estimation of LMS; however, none work in the case of OQPSK modulated signals. The popular cyclic correlation method fails to estimate STO for OQPSK signals, as the offset present between the in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) components causes the cyclic peak to disappear at the symbol rate frequency. In the proposed method, a set of close and approximate offsets is used to compensate the offset between the I and Q components of the received OQPSK signal. The STO in the time domain is represented as a phase in the cyclic frequency domain. The STO is therefore calculated by obtaining the phase of the cyclic peak at the symbol rate frequency. The method is validated through extensive theoretical study, simulation, and testbed implementation. The proposed estimation method exhibits robust performance in the presence of unknown carrier phase offset and frequency offset.
A new method of measuring the Brillouin gain spectrum of optical fiber is proposed and demonstrated. Unlike existing methods, both the pump light and the counter-propagating probe light are generated from a single laser diode whose optical frequency is directly modulated by injection current modulation. The frequency difference between the pump and the probe is scanned continuously through optical frequency chirp occurring when the injection current is modulated with a square wave. The measured Brillouin gain spectrum of telecom single-mode fiber agrees well with that shown in other literature.

This paper proposes the trot gait pattern generation and online control methods for a quadruped robot to carry heavy loads and to move fast on uneven terrain. The trot pattern is generated from the frequency modulated pattern generation method based on the frequency modulated oscillator in order for the legged robots to be operated outdoor environment with the static and dynamic mobility. The efficiency and performance of the proposed method are verified through computer simulations and experiments using qRT-1/-2. In the experiments, qRT-2 which has two front legs driven by hydraulic linear actuators and two rear casters is used. The robot can trot at the speed up to 1.3 m/s on even surface, walk up and down the 20 degree inclines, and walk at 0.7 m/s on uneven surface. Also it can carry over 100 kg totally including 40 kg payload.

This paper presents a novel prototype of a current source resonant inverter using insulated gate bipolar transistors for driving a streamer reactor, streamer generation technology has been recognized as one of the best methods for water treatment, disinfection, industrial wastes utilization, and so on. However, some technological difficulties related to efficient streamer production have been significant problems restricting streamer usage in the industrial plants. Introduced in this paper is a pulse density modulated high frequency inverter for a plasma generate, which is developed with the aim to improve power conversion and control characteristics of the streamer reactor by using advances in power electronic technology. The developed system implements the feedforward control-based pulse density modulation control scheme with pulse width modulation feedback control strategy to compensate temperature and other environmental influences on streamer discharge.

We demonstrate the transmission of uncompressed 4K videos over the photonics-based terahertz (THz) wireless link using a directly modulated distributed feedback laser diode (DFB-LD). For optical heterodyne mixing and data modulation, a DFB-LD was employed and directly modulated with a 5.94-Gb/s non-return-to-zero signal, which is related to a 6G-serial digital interface standard to support ultra-high-definition video resolution. We derived the optimal frequency of the THz carrier by varying the wavelength difference between DFB-LD output and Tunable LD output in the THz signal transmitter to obtain the best transmission performances of the uncompressed 4K video signals. Furthermore, we exploited the negative laser-to-filter detuning for the adiabatic chirp management of the DFB-LD by the intentional discrepancy between the center wavelength of the optical band-pass filter and the output wavelength of the DFB-LD. With the help of the abovementioned methods, we successfully transmitted uncompressed 4K video signals over the 2.3-m wireless transmission distance without black frames induced by time synchronization error.
Due to advancements in power electronics and inverter topologies, the current controlled multilevel voltage-source pulse width modulated (PWM) inverter is usually preferred for accurate control, quick response and high dynamic performance. A multilevel topology approach is found to be best suited for overcoming many problems arising from the use of high power converters. This paper presents a comprehensive review and comparative study of several current control (CC) techniques for multilevel inverters with a special emphasis on various approaches of the hysteresis current controller. Since the hysteresis CC technique poses a problem of variable switching frequency, a ramp-comparator controller and a predictive controller to attain constant switching frequency are described along with its quantitative comparison. Furthermore, various methods have been reviewed to achieve hysteresis current control PWM with constant switching frequency operation. This paper complies various guidelines to choose a particular method suitable for application at a given power level, switching frequency and dynamic response.

When decision-directed channel estimation is used for QAM-OFDM systems, the optimal shape of the two-dimensional filter depends on the amplitudes of the modulated symbols as well as the channel characteristics such as delay spread, Doppler frequency, and signal-to-noise ratio. While most conventional channel estimation methods did not consider the amplitudes of the modulated symbols because of the large computational complexity, we propose a simple channel estimation method for multi-level-amplitude-modulated systems. The proposed method can effectively reduce the noise variance of the estimates with small-sized filtering and there is a possibility of reducing the implementation cost and producing better results by avoiding the bias due to large filter sizes.

This paper presents a novel method for identification of FSK modulated radar signal. Three features which measure the number of frequency tones, the regularity of the frequency shifting, and the diversity of power spectrum of detected radar signal, are introduced. A Two-step combined maximum likelihood classifier was used to identify the details of the detected FSK signal; the modulation order and the use of Costas code. We attempted to divide FSK signal into binary FSK, ternary FSK, 8-ary FSK, and FSK with Costas code of length 7. The simulation results indicated that the proposed methods achieves an averaged identification accuracy was 99.93% at a signal-to-noise of 0 dB.
Modulation strategies for multilevel inverters have typically focused on synthesizing a desired set of sinusoidal voltage waveforms using a fixed number of dc voltage sources. This makes the average power drawn from different dc voltage sources unequal and time varying. Therefore, the dc voltage sources are unregulated and require that corrective control action be incorporated. In this paper, first two new selections are proposed for determining the dc voltage sources values for asymmetric cascaded multilevel inverters. Then two modulation strategies are proposed for the dc power balancing of these types of multilevel inverters. Using the charge balance control methods, the power drawn from all of the dc sources are balanced except for the dc source used in the first H-bridge. The proposed control methods are validated by simulation and experimental results on a single-phase 21-level inverter.
