This paper is a study on robust PID controller tuning technique using the frequency region model matching method. To design the robust PID controller satisfying disturbance attenuation and robust tracking property for a reference input first an {{{{ETA _$\infty$}}}} controller satisfying given performances is designed using an H$_{\infty}$ control method, And then the parameters(proportional gain integral gain and derivation gain) of the robust PID controller with the performances of the desinged H$_{\infty}$ controller are determined using the model matching method at frequency domain. in this paper this PID controller tuning technique is applied to PID speed controller design for BLDC motors. Consequently simulation results show that the proposed PID speed controller satisfies load torque disturbance attenuation and robust tracking property and this study has usefulness and applicability for the speed control system; design of BLDC motors.

Effects of mean flow and nozzle damping on acoustic tuning of a gas-liquid scheme coaxial injector are investigated numerically adopting a linear acoustic analysis. The injector plays a role as a half-wave acoustic resonator for acoustic damping in a combustion chamber of a liquid rocket engine. As Mach number of mean flow in a chamber increases, the resonant frequency of the first tangential mode decreases slightly and the optimum injector tuning length varies negligibly. Nozzle damping affects neither the resonant frequency nor the optimum length. From these numerical results, effects of mean flow and nozzle damping on acoustic tuning of a resonator are negligible. As open area of the injectors increases, the acoustic amplitude decreases, but new injector-coupled modes appear.

In this paper, a systematic design of a low phase noise voltage-tuned dielectric resonator oscillator(VTDRO) using loop group delay is proposed. Designed VTDRO is closed-loop type and consists of a cascade connection of a resonator, phase shifter, and amplifier. Firstly, a reference VTDRO is fabricated and its phase noise and electrical frequency tuning range are measured. Both the phase noise and electrical frequency tuning range depend on the loop group delay. Then, a required value of loop group delay for a new VTDRO with a low phase noise can be systematically computed. In addition, its phase noise and electrical frequency tuning range can be theoretically estimated using those obtained from the measurement of the reference VTDRO. When the loop group delay increases, the phase noise decreases and the electrical frequency tuning range also decreases. The former predominantly depends on the resonator structure. Therefore we propose a systematic design procedure of a resonator with high group delay characteristics. The measured loop group delay of the new VTDRO is about 700 nsec. The measured phase noise of the new VTDRO show a state-of-the-art performance of 154.5 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz frequency offset and electrical frequency tuning range of 448 kHz for a voltage change of 0~10V. The oscillation power is about 4.39 dBm.
Automatic generation control (AGC) is an important function for load frequency control, which is being implemented in Energy Management System (EMS). A key feature of AGC is to back up governors to enhance the performance of frequency control. The governor regulates system frequency in several to ten seconds, while the droop control concept results in steady-state control error. AGC is a supplementary tool for compensation of the steady-state error caused by the droop setting of the governors. As the AGC target is delivered to each generator as an open loop control target, the generator output is not guaranteed to follow the AGC target. In this paper, we introduce generating unit controller (GUC) control block, which has the purpose of enabling the generator output to track the AGC target while maintaining the governor performance. We also address the tuning methods of GUC for better performance of AGC in the Korea Energy Management System (K-EMS).

Controller refinement scheme to improve the performance of a conventional system automatically in frequency domain is proposed. The controller automatic tuning method features using experimental frequency responses of the conventional closed-loop system the conventional controller, and the improved closed-loop system, instead of poorly modeled plant due to non-linearities and disturbances. The improved closed-loop system characteristics is automatically acquired by the conventional closed-loop system characteristics and the proposed performance index in system bandwidth. And the proper controller is realized by least squares approximation in frequency domain. To testify the usefulness of the approach, the path tracking control of robot arm is performed. Experimental results and analytic results are well-matched.

In this paper, an ultra-small marker beacon antenna operated in the VHF-band is proposed. This antenna has a modified linear IFA structure with a lumped capacitor and a capacitive plate for frequency tuning and impedance matching. The capacitive plate is directly connected to the end of a linear radiator and is separated from the antenna ground by 1 mm. The main operating frequency is mainly controlled by the size and dielectric constant of the capacitive plate. The lumped capacitor is useful for fine frequency tuning. Using the proposed structure, an ultra-small marker beacon antenna can be realized with a length of 0.04 ${\lambda}_0$.
In this paper, we propose two LC voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) that improve both phase noise and tuning range. With both 1/f induced low-frequency noise and low-frequency thermal noise around DC or around harmonics suppressed significantly by the employment of a current-current negative feedback (CCNF) loop, the phase noise in the CCNF LC VCO has been improved by about 10 dB at 6 MHz offset compared to the conventional LC VCO. The phase noise of the CCNF VCO was measured as -112 dBc/Hz at 6 MHz offset from 5.5 GHz carrier frequency. Also, we present a bandwidth-enhanced LC VCO whose tuning range has been increased about 250 % by connecting the varactor to the bases of the cross-coupled pair. The phase noise of the bandwidth-enhanced LC-tank VCO has been improved by about 6 dB at 6 MHz offset compared to the conventional LC VCO. The phase noise reduction has been achieved because the DC-decoupling capacitor Cc prevents the output common-mode level from modulating the varactor bias point, and the signal power increases in the LC-tank resonator. The bandwidth-enhanced LC VCO represents a 12 % bandwidth and phase noise of -108 dBc/Hz at 6 MHz offset.

The InGaP/GaAs hetero-junction bipolar transistor(HBT) monolithic voltage-controlled dielectric resonator oscillator(VCDRO) is first demonstrated for a Ku-band low noise block down-converter(LNB) system. The on-chip voltage control oscillator core employing base-collector(B-C) junction diodes is proposed for simpler frequency tuning and easy fabrication instead of the general off-chip varactor diodes. The fabricated VCDRO achieves a high output power of 6.45 to 5.31 dBm and a wide frequency tuning range of ]65 MHz( 1.53 $\%$) with a low phase noise of below -95dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset and -115 dBc/Hz at ] MHz offset. A]so, the InGaP/GaAs HBT monolithic DRO with the same topology as the proposed VCDRO is fabricated to verify that the intrinsic low l/f noise of the HBT and the high Q of the DR contribute to the low phase noise performance. The fabricated DRO exhibits an output power of 1.33 dBm, and an extremely low phase noise of -109 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz and -131 dBc/Hz at ] MHz offset from the 10.75 GHz oscillation frequency.

This paper presents a design technique of self tuning fuzzy controller for load frequency control of power system.
The proposed parameter self tuning algorithm of fuzzy controller is based on the gradient method using four direction
vectors which make error between inference values of fuzzy controller and output values of the specially selected
optimal controller reduce steepestly. Using input-output data pair obtained from optimal controller, the parameters
in antecedent part and in consequent part of fuzzy inference rules are learned and tuned automatically
using the proposed gradient method. The related simulation results show that the proposed fuzzy controller is more
powerful than the conventional ones for reductions of undershoot and steady-state load frequency deviation and
for minimization of settling time.

This paper presents the optimal motion control for 3-axis SCARA robot by using $LabVIEW^{(R)}$. Specifically, for optimal motion control of 3-axis SCARA robot, we study velocity profile based on finite jerk(the first derivative of acceleration) and optimal gain tunig based on frequency response method by using $LabVIEW^{(R)}$. The velocity optimization with finite jerk aims at generating the smooth velocity profile of robot. Velocity profile based on finite jerk is acquired and applied to 3-axis SCARA robot by using $LabVIEW^{(R)}$. DSA(Dynamic Signal Analyzer) for frequency response method is programed by using $LabVIEW^{(R)}$. We obtain the bode plot of transfer function about 3-axis SCARA robot by using DSA, and perform the gain tuning considering dynamic characteristic based on the bode plot. These experiments have shown that the proposed motion control can reduce vibration displacement and response error rate each 33.7% and 51.7% of 3-axis SCARA robot.
