  • In this paper, the novel digital frequency/phase controller, to control the invelter fed traveling wave type ultra-sonic m motor(USM) is proposed. This controller is used to control the drive frequency, phase difference and applied voltages of e each phase of the motor. Proposed digital controller has constructed with digital logic only, no more use digitallongleftarrowanalog h hybrid method of the conventional controller, in order to generate drive frequency and phase difference. Therefore, the c control system has become to velY simple structure. T\rvo types of controllers are designed, one is to control drive f frequency and phase difference, another has added voltage control function of each phase. Two full digital voltage/phase c controllers are implemented by using custom LSI and EPLD, the control pelformance and the simplicity ofthe proposed c controller is verified by expeJimental results.

  • This paper presents an investigation of a voltage and frequency controller for an isolated asynchronous generator (IAG) driven. by a wind turbine and supplying 3-phase 4-wire loads to the isolated areas where a grid is not accessible. The control strategy is based on the indirect current control of the VSC (voltage source converter) using the frequency PI controller. The proposed controller consists of three single-phase IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Junction Transistor) based VSC, which are connected to each phase of the IAG through three single phase transformers and a battery at their DC link. The controller has the capability of controlling reactive and active powers to regulate the magnitude and frequency of the generated voltage, harmonic elimination, load balancing and neutral current compensation. The proposed isolated system is modeled and simulated in MATLAB using Simulink and PSB (Power System Block-set) toolboxes to verify the performance of the controller.

  • In this study, we designed and made Ultrasonic motor-digital multi controller(USM-DMC) using FPGA chip, A54SX72A made in Actel Corporation. By the minute, USM-DMC can adjust the frequency, duty ratio, and phase difference parameters of USM by digital input to be each 11bit from PC. Therefore, when we use this controller, it is possible to apply typical three parameters individually as well as multi-parameters simultaneously to control the speed and the torque. What is more, the strongest point is that it can trace frequency based on optimized frequency as compared with the phase difference because we can input optimized resonant frequency while in motoring. And we test the speed of USM with the adjustment of multi-parameters, the phase difference-frequency. As the result of the test, in the case of the multi-parameters of the phase difference and frequency, the speed characteristic is more linear and stable, and wider in the range of control than the single-parameter of the phase difference or the frequency.

  • This paper proposes a compensation algorithm for reducing a specific ripple component on synchronous reference frame phase locked loop (SRF-PLL) in grid-tied single-phase inverters. In general, SRF-PLL, which is based on all-pass filter to generate virtual voltage, is widely used to estimate the grid phase angle in a single-phase system. In reality, the estimated grid phase angle might be distorted because the phase difference between actual and virtual voltages is not 90 degrees. That is, the phase error is caused by the difference between cut-off frequency of all-pass filter and grid frequency under grid frequency variation. Therefore, the effects on phase angle and output current attributed to the phase error are mathematically analyzed in this paper. In addition, the proportional resonant (PR) controller is adapted to reduce the effects of phase error. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified through several simulations and experiments.

  • This paper deals with an integrated voltage and frequency (VF) controller for isolated asynchronous generators (IAG) driven by a constant power pico-hydro uncontrolled turbine feeding three-phase four-wire loads. The proposed VF controller is used to control the frequency and voltage of an IAG with load leveling. Such a VF controller is also known as an integrated electronic load controller (IELC) which is realized using an isolated star/polygon transformer with a voltage source converter (VSC) and a battery at its DC bus. The proposed generating system with a VFC is modeled and simulated in MATLAB along with Simulink and Simpower system (SPS) toolboxes. The simulated results are presented to demonstrate the performance of an isolated asynchronous generator feeding three-phase four-wire loads with neutral current compensation.

  • The main issue of parallel three-phase boost converters is reduction of the low- and high frequency circulating currents. Most present technologies concentrate on low frequency circulating current because the circulating current controller cannot mitigate the high frequency circulating current. In this paper, analytical approach of three-phase coupled inductor applied to parallel system becomes an important objective to effectively reduce the low- and high frequency circulating currents. The characteristics of three-phase coupled inductor based on a structure and voltage equations are mathematically derived. The modified voltage equations are then applied to parallel three-phase boost converters to develop averaged models in stationary coordinates and rotating coordinates. Based on the averaged modeling approach, design of the circulating current controller is presented. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the analysis and modeling for the parallel three-phase boost converters using three-phase coupled inductor.

  • In this paper, a digital controller design procedure is presented for single-phase voltage-doubler boost rectifiers (VDBR). The model derivation of the single-phase VDBR is performed in the s-domain. After that the simplified equivalent z-domain models are derived. These z-domain models are utilized to design the input current and the output dc-link voltage controllers. For the controller design in the z-domain, the traditional K-factor method is modified by considering the nature of the digital controller. The frequency pre-warping and anti-windup techniques are adapted for the controller design. By using the proposed method, the phase margin and the control bandwidth are accurately achieved as required by controller designers in a practical frequency range. The proposed method is applied to a 2.5 kVA single-phase VDBR for Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) applications. From the simulation and the experimental results, the effectiveness of the proposed design method has been verified.

  • Recently, the demand of motor for industrial, household machinery is increasing. As Switching devices and control technology are progressing, so the use of BLDC Motor is increasing. But 3-Phase BLDC Motor generally used has pulsating torque and speed variation in commutation, so the range of its application is limited to high speed operation. Especially, to solve these problems, it is necessary to increase phase of Motor, so study of Poly-Phase BLDC Motor is progressing. However, when hysteresis current controller is used, switching frequency is highly increasing. In this paper, 7-Phase BLDC Motor drive system is designed. Also MSTC(Minimum Switching Time Controller) is proposed and with simulation and experiment, there validities are verified.

  • In this paper, a new design method for IMC-PID that adds a phase scaling factor of system identifications to the standard IMC-PID controller as a control parameter is proposed. Based on analytically derived frequency properties such as gain and phase margins, this tuning rule is an optimal control method determining the optimum values of controlling factors to minimize the cost function, integral error criterion of the step response in time domain, in the constraints of design parameters to guarantee qualified frequency design specifications. The proposed controller improves existing single-parameter design methods of IMC-PID in the inflexibility problem to be able to consider various design specifications. Its effectiveness is examined by a simulation example, where a comparison of the performances obtained with the proposed tuning rule and with other common tuning rules is shown.
