Time and cost of construction are key factors in decision-making during a tunnel project's planning and design phase. Estimations of time and cost of tunnel construction projects are subject to significant uncertainties caused by uncertain geotechnical and geological conditions. The Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) technique for predicting ground condition and construction time and cost of mountain tunnel projects is used in this work. The GPR model is trained with data from past mountain tunnel projects. The model is applied to a case study in which the predicted time and cost of tunnel construction using the GPR model are compared with the actual construction time and cost for model validation and reducing the uncertainty for the future projects. In addition, the results obtained from the GPR have been compared with to other models of artificial neural network (ANN) and support vector regression (SVR) that the GPR model provides more accurate results.
Purpose - The purpose of this study is to examine whether trading volume amplifies the extent to which lottery-type stocks are overpriced, and whether economic sentiment index explains time-variation in the magnitude of the volume amplification effect. Design/methodology/approach - We examine monthly returns on 5x5 monthly bivariate portfolios formed by lottery characteristics (measured by maximum daily return) and trading volume. In addition, we perform time-series regression tests to examine how the volume amplification effect changes in high and low economic sentiment periods, after controlling for Fama-French three factors. Findings - Our bivariate portfolio analysis shows that the overpricing of lottery-type stocks are mostly pronounced among high trading volume stocks. In contrast, for low trading volume stocks, overpricing of lottery-type stocks appears to vanish. Furthermore, the amplification effect of trading volume on overpricing of lottery-type stock is concentrated in high economic sentiment periods. Research implications or Originality - This study is the first attempt to examine whether trading volume drives lottery-type stocks' overpricing in the Korean stock market. Furthermore, our analysis unveils the time-varying nature of volume amplification effect. The results suggest that trading volume might play a important hidden role in asset pricing, opening a new line of researches in the future.

Tunnel convergence prediction is essential for the safe construction and design of tunnels. This study proposes five machine learning models of deep neural network (DNN), K-nearest neighbors (KNN), Gaussian process regression (GPR), support vector regression (SVR), and decision trees (DT) to predict the convergence phenomenon during or shortly after the excavation of tunnels. In this respect, a database including 650 datasets (440 for training, 110 for validation, and 100 for test) was gathered from the previously constructed tunnels. In the database, 12 effective parameters on the tunnel convergence and a target of tunnel wall convergence were considered. Both 5-fold and hold-out cross validation methods were used to analyze the predicted outcomes in the ML models. Finally, the DNN method was proposed as the most robust model. Also, to assess each parameter's contribution to the prediction problem, the backward selection method was used. The results showed that the highest and lowest impact parameters for tunnel convergence are tunnel depth and tunnel width, respectively.
Experiencing the vortex of postmodernism, modern graphic design has evolved radically from simple aesthetically-motivated style following modernism. Concurrently, Typography has transmuted into International Typography Style from Grid Standard, which was an outcome of modernism. Edward Fella is one of the most internationally prestigious figures practicing the contemporary graphic design style. He is currently pursuing his career as an educator by teaching graphic design and typography at Cal Arts. For a long time, Fella has devoted himself to yielding products of de-constructive presentations and constructing design identity based on aesthetics. This paper looks into aesthetic criteria which has affected modern graphic design, referring to graphism of Fella, an international graphic design and typography educator whose theoretical origins lie in French modern philosophy and aesthetics. Fella has created graphic works by making use of graphic motives residing in the unconscious and the subconscious. Therefore, his graphic style is viewed and investigated as de-constructive aesthetics in the paper. Drifting around toward the end of postmodernism, the present day defines itself as the age free of formality approaching uncertain future; however, Fella's typography graphically guides us to understand comprehensively not only how international graphic design flows from the present to the future, but its realizations in design works.
Tokyo! is a 2008 French / Japanese / South Korean / German anthology film containing "Interior Design" by Michel Gondry, "Merde" by Leos Carax, and "Shaking Tokyo" by Joon-ho Bong, all of which were filmed in Tokyo. This cinematic triptych of three Tokyo-set stories is concerned with how the experience of self-alienation is related to urban life, that is, how to survive in a city as a self. The problem of life is the struggle for self-preservation. In Tokyo! the three film directors have shown that urban life is both self-deconstructing and self-preserving. In this paper, our purpose is to examine different modes of urban life by using two concepts reformulated by the French philosopher Jacques Derrida: the urban ipseity and auto-immunity. According to Derrida, ipseity is a system subjected to a circular structure. Such a system cannot avoid the general logic of auto-immunity; i.e., the structure of ipseity functions as both self-deconstructing and self-preserving. The three episodes contained in Tokyo! testify, each in its own way, to the function of that logic. In bringing to light the three modes of self: appropriation, dis-appropriation, and in-appropriation, we claim that the modality of urban life is confronted with the autoimmune reaction.
Today, the growing number of international architects enters the open market of South Korean architecture and interior from exhibition spaces such as art galleries to buildings of major companies. Establishing new local landmarks, their works have a considerable influence on the development of architecture. Among many, French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte has worked consistently in South Korea. The purpose of this study is to analyze and put together the expression characteristic of the interior design in his exhibition spaces including Gana Art Gallery. Jean-Michel Wilmotte has designed based on the history, culture, society, and arts in France and other European countries, and is influenced by architects like Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Josef Hoffmann, and Carlo Scarpa. Such an influence is shown in the form of contrast between verticality and horizontality as well as the fortification in his modern classical characteristic, which is one of his expression characters. In his work of improving the ancient architecture, Wilmotte is good at creating a modern space through contextual expression, and the textural contrast between materials of the past and the present. Thus I performed an analysis of the expression characteristic of the interior design in National Museum of Contemporary Art of Chiado in Lisbon, Cognac Hennessy Museum in France, Gana Art Gallery in Korea, Mus$\acute{e}$e du Pr$\acute{e}$sident Jacques Chirac in Sarran, France, Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) in Beijing, and lastly Mus$\acute{e}$e d'Orsay in Paris. The results show that he maintains the spatial context by applying contemporary design to the preserved existing structure, continues the flow of exhibition through the lightings in the corridors and on the ceiling, and seeks for a balance by adding vertical or horizontal elements to the elevation. In the interior, the staircase and exhibition structure are turned into objects, and the contrasting texture of the wall vitalizes the space. Wilmotte redesigns the space of the past and the present by using indirect joint that allows an organic connection of the old and new structures, and by minimizing the conflict between the two elements through prefabrication. The expression character of his interior design will be potential resources for architects and interior designers to develop their own design languages.

In this study, elevated temperature design and integrity evaluation have been conducted using two different piping design codes for the high-temperature piping systems of sodium integral effect test loop for safety simulation and assessment(STELLA-2) being developed by KAERI(Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute). The design code of ASME B31.1 for power piping and French nuclear grade piping design guideline, RCC-MRx RD-3600 were applied, and conservatism of those codes was quantified based on the piping integrity evaluation results. The piping system of Model DHRS, Model IHTS and PSLS are to be installed in STELLA-2. The integrity evaluation results for the three piping systems according to the two design codes showed that integrity of the piping system was confirmed. As a code comparison result, ASME B31.1 was shown to be more conservative for sustained loads while RD-3600 was more conservative for thermal loads compared to B31.1.
Today Hanbok, the symbol of our nation's culture, has been preserved as cultural heritage despite natural and social environmental changes over years. This study is analyzing Hanbok which were taken in the National Skills Competition from 2000 to 2013; it presents our traditional stitching methods and clarifies the pride the Hanbok artisans have as inheriting the traditional heritage. Therefore this paper contributes to continuous and proper development of the culture of Hanbok and being loved by many people. The assignments about Hanbok featured in the National Skills Competition were categorized by national and local competition, time required to produce assignments, required amount of fabric, type of stitching, unlined and lined clothes depending on the type of assignment; according to the classification, methods for sewing were analyzed in detail. First, the national tournament presented 12 kinds of sewing techniques; especially hand-sewn stitching method appeared in common. Second, the unlined and lined clothes depending on the type of assignments had applied different sewing methods; double-stitching, flat fell seam, french seam, roll over sewing, blind stitch, right angle blind stitch, decorative saddle stitching, darning, etc. were used. Sewing methods in the 21st century has not changed over the years; the shape of clothes was changed upon trends. Sewing became easier than before by the invention of sewing machine, we should carry on our traditional sewing techniques. Through this analysis on sewing methods of the National Skills Competition, I hope to support competition participants for studying Hanbok and indicate proper sewing techniques.
Since a private museums started in Europe 17C, many private museums established for high-class people like aristocrats to collect and to keep art works and to appreciate for limited members. After the French Revolution in 18C, the publicity became an important social issue through all European regions, and the museum gradually changed into public ones. Like that, as the concept of museum changed, its social role as well as its function was also changed. The concept of collection and display or preservation changed into the concept of exhibition and appreciation featuring the publicity. With the year-round exhibition, a classical concept, the planned-exhibition, a new active concept set as an important factor for a museum's projects. The latter concept embraces new social issues. Therefore as the space for planned-exhibitions reflecting social issues every season was needed, a museum sets its planned-exhibition space with the changeability, and gradually expands this kind of space in size. It is expected that planned-exhibition spaces characterized as the changeability may give some changes on the flow of a museum's overall space, and may have substantial influences on the flow. To recognize the changes in a planned-exhibition space's influence on the museum, this study selected some national, public museums having the planned-exhibition space, and investigated their influences on each museum's overall space structure through the analysis on space syntax. This study assumed the change of planned-exhibition space as the changes in the number of convex spaces, and measured it. And to understand the planned-exhibition's changes on a museum's overall spaces, such changed assumed as the numeric changes in convex spaces and measured them. In addition, the numeric changes's influence on the overall space structure was analyzed by measuring the overall space's average integration level. Through the above two factors, the 3 research methodologies and analyzed results were drawn out.
The object of this study looks into the awareness and satisfaction about Korean fashion product of Chinese adult women inhabited in China, by comparing with foreign fashion product. The questionnaire used as a method of measurement, and the sample was 848 Chinese women from 20 to 50 age, living in China. The analysis of all data was handled by SAS(Statistical Analysis System) program, Frequency Analysis, ANOVA, Duncan's Multiple Range Test was also executed. The results from the study were as follows: 1. The preference about Korean fashion product of Chinese women is higher than American, English and Japanese fashion product, but is lower than Italy, French and Chinese fashion product in each age. 2. About the quality, design, service's satisfaction and brand reputation of Chinese adult women, Italy product is first ranked and Korean, Chinese is followed. 3. About the possession item on Korean fashion product of Chinese adult women, younger and younger chinese women on age, Ta-Ryun resident in area, a company employee on occupation hold the most. 4. About the recognition on Korean fashion product of Chinese adult women, younger and younger preferred the popularity and special design of Korean fashion product, the women inhabited in Ta-Ryun and Buk-Kyung recognized the Korean product as economical. 5. About the satisfaction on Korean fashion product of Chinese adult women, there is no significant difference on age, residential district and occupation.
