  • In this paper, the fracture behaviour at CFRP laminated structure due to the vertical falling impact of the fight drone frame composed of CFRP was investigated through the analytical study. As CFRP consists of fiber differently from the existing plastic material, the fracture behaviour becoms complex. So, the preceding study is important through the analytical study before this experiment. By comparing with the existing study model at the same condition as the result of this study, the applied stress value is shown to decrease greatly at the analysis model with the center notch hole of the laminated CFRP drone frame. On the basis of this study result, the esthetic sense can be shown as the foundation data about the notch hole of drone frame are grafted onto the convergence technique.

  • Based on the study conducted by Kim et al. (205a, b), an improved stability design method for evaluating the effective buckling lengths of beam-column members is proposed herein, using system elastic/inelastic buckling analysis and second-order elastic analysis. For this purpose, the stress-strain relationship of a column is inversely formulated from the reference load-carrying capacity proposed in design codes, so as to derive the tangent modulus of a column as a function of the slenderness ratio. The tangent stiffness matrix of a beam-column element is formulated using the so-called "stability functions," and elastic/inelastic buckling analysis Effective buckling lengths are then evaluated by extending the basic concept of a single simply-supported column to the individual members as one component of a whole frame structure. Through numerical examples of several structural systems and loading conditions, the possibilities of enhancement in stability design for frame structures are addressed by comparing their numerical results obtained when the present design method is used with those obtained when conventional stability design methods are used.

  • Until now, a comparative study on fully and partially-connected steel shear walls leading to enhancing strength and stiffness reduction of partially-connected steel plate shear wall structures has not been reported. In this paper a number of 4-story and 8-story steel plate shear walls, are considered with three different connection details of infill plate to surrounding frame. The specimens are modeled using nonlinear finite element method verified excellently with the experimental results and analyzed under monotonic loading. A comparison between initial stiffness and shear strength of models as well as percentage of shear force by model boundary frame and infill plate are performed. Moreover, a comparison between energy dissipation, ductility factor and distribution of Von-Mises stresses of models are presented. According to the results, the initial stiffness, shear resistance, energy dissipation and ductility of the models with beam-only connected infill plates (SSW-BO) is found to be about 53%, 12%, 15% and 48% on average smaller than those of models with fully-connected infill plates (SPSW), respectively. However, performance characteristics of semi-supported steel shear walls (SSSW) containing secondary columns by simultaneously decreasing boundary frame strength and increasing thickness of infill plates are comparable to those of SPSWs. Results show that by using secondary columns as well as increasing thickness of infill plates, the stress demands on boundary frame decreases substantially by as much as 35%. A significant increase in infill plate share on shear capacity by as much as 95% and 72% progress for the 4-story SSW-BO and 8-story SSSW8, respectively, as compared with non-strengthened counterparts. A similar trend is achieved by strengthening secondary columns of 4-story SSSW leading to an increase of 50% in shear force contribution of infill plate.

  • TSOP(Thin Small Outline Package) is the IC package using lead frame, which is the type of low cost package for white electronics, auto mobile, desktop PC, and so on. Its performance is not excellent compared to BGA or flip-chip CSP, but it has been used mostly because of low price of TSOP package. However, it has been issued in TSOP package that thermal deflection of lead frame occurs frequently during molding process and Au wire between semiconductor die and pad is debonded. It has been required to solve this problem through substituting materials with low CTE and improving structure of lead frame. We focused on developing the lead frame structure having thermal stability, which was carried out by numerical analysis in this study. Thermal deflection of lead frame in TSOP package was simulated with positions of anti-deflection adhesives, which was ranging 198 um~366 um from semiconductor die. It was definitely understood that thermal deflection of TSOP package with anti-deflection adhesives was improved as 30.738 um in the case of inside(198 um), which was compared to that of the conventional TSOP package. This result is caused by that the anti-deflection adhesives is contributed to restrict thermal expansion of lead frame. Therefore, it is expected that the anti-deflection adhesives can be applied to lead frame packages and enhance their thermal deflection without any change of substitutive materials with low CTE.

  • The robot mainpulator for inspection of pressurizer in the nuclear power plant has been developed, which consists of four parts : 2 arms, movable gripper, base frame, contorl console. To extract the damaged electric heating rod inside pressurizer, the gripper has been developed using wire lope and self-locking mechanism. for the examination of the structural stability of the robot manipulator, stress analysis is performed by using the ANSYS code.

  • This research proposes an effective analytical methodology for vertical vibration of three dimensional frame structures including slabs. The consideration of slabs, although allows more precise results, requires large amount of computer time and memory space due to the use of plane stress elements. In consideration of these problems, a method to properly manage nodal points and degrees of freedom is proposed based on matrix condensation technique. Also studied is the use of substructure method to obtain fast and reliable results with simple input data when they are applied to conventional building structures.

  • In this paper, the behavior for transfer girder of the upper-wall and lower-frame structures was studied by the nonlinear finite element analysis. It was analyzed and compared with the experimental results. Analysis results showed that failure modes were progressed by a initial diagonal crack in the shear span between the edges of the load and intermediate support plate. The nonlinear finite element analysis could predict deformation, principal stress, ultimate load and concrete crack. Also analysis results showed good agreement the test results.

  • In the design of column, computation of effective length factor for calculation of allowable compressive stress is inevitable. In this study. computer code which automatically generates effective length factor in the finite element analysis is developed. The program is developed to be used for orthogonal and nonorthogonal frame structure. Some i1lustrative examples verify that the computation results we correct for various cases.

  • The fixed-angle based modified compression field theory (MCFT) was developed to include the slip deformation across the crack, thereby allowing for the non-coincident directions of the principal strain and stress. To investigate the significance of crack modelling on the analysis, a series of tests on beams without transverse reinforcement was predicted by both rotating- and fixed-angle crack models within the frame of the MCFT. The results predicted by the fixed-angle MCFT were comparable to those by the rotating-angle MCFT when the initial crack angle of 45deg. and the related friction law are used.

  • Under severe lateral loads, ductile moments-resisting reinforced concrete frames will be subjected to large loads and displacements. Thus, large deformation and shear stree are occurred at the beam-column joints which are the most critical region in ductile moments-resisting system. The purpose of this study was to investigate the shear strength of beam-column connection using high strength concrete. Four subassemblies were designed 2/3 scale of read structures and tested. The obtained results are as follows. 1) The transverse beams increase the shear resistance and ductility of joint, 2) The slab was contributed to increase of the flexural capacity of the beam, but was not contributed to increase the joint ductility under cyclic loads. 3) The shear stress factors. given by the ACI code would be modified in evaluating the shear strength of beam-column joints of frame which were constructed with high-strength concrete.
