  • The fragrant fabrics are prepared by the attaching microcapsules using acrylic binder. To improve the handle of fragrant fabrics, pretreatment by softener is suggested. The durability of fragrant fabrics and the change of their handle are investigated. It is carried out One-way ANOVA and Duncan test to determine bending properties, shear properties, surface properties of untreated, SO-MC and BI-MC by Kawabata system. BI-MC shows significant differences in B and 2HB. SO-MC shows significant differences in G and 2HG. It turned out the pretreatment by softener mitigated the effect of binder and makes fabrics softer than untreated fabrics.

  • Natural functional compound in the textile finishing for health and amenity using fragrant material have been applied by microencapsulation method. The microcapsules containing fragrant materials as functional compound were produced by in situ polymerization using urea-formaldehyde prepolymer. The average diameter of microcapsules is 2.75$\mu$ and particle size ranges over 0.5~10$\mu$. Fragment material is extracted approximatly proportioned from microcapsule at room temperature. The adsorption of microcapsule was improved by pretreatment of cationic agent. Fragrant materials in microcapsule was revealed to have long release time.

  • Fragrant microcapsules were prepared by in situ polymerization using urea-formaldehyde prepolymer. Lemon oil and migrin oil as susceptible materials were used. The diameter and distribution of the microcapsule were controlled by several factors, such as wall material, core material content, emulsion agent and stirring speed, respectively. Susceptible cotton fabrics with fragrant release functionality were successfully produced by using microcapsule containing fragrant materials.

  • The fragrant fabrics were prepared by treatment with eucalyptus microcapsules. 100% cotton fabric, 100% polyester fabric and 100% wool fabric were used as test specimens. Using pad-dry-cure method, microcapsules were attached on each specimen by acrylic binder under conditions of varying concentration. Surface property, stiffness, and air permeability of fragrant fabrics were evaluated. As increasing concentration of binder, add-on yield was increased. Add-on yield was decreased with increasing laundering cycle, especially in polyester fabric. As the concentration of binder was increased, the properties of stiffness and air permeability were decreased. Also it fumed out that pad-dry-cure method was not suitable to polyester fabric.

  • The microcapsules containing fragrant oil as functional material were prepared by in-situ polymerization with prepolymer that was made from melamine-formaldehyde (MF) as wall material of microcapsules. The effects of polymerization variables, such as the nature and concentration of surfactants, stirring rate, and stirring time, on the size and distribution of the particles were investigated. Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), thermal analysis, particle size analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observation were used to investigate the characteristics of microcapsules. Through the FT-IR and SEM analysis, we found that the prepared microcapsules were containing fragrant oil and the shape of particle was spherical. The nature and concentration of surfactants, stirring rate, and stirring time had profound effects on the particle size and particle size distribution.

  • Polystyrene microcapsules were prepared by microencapsulation technique of solvent-evaporation. These microcapsules were characterized by Infrared spectroscopy, thermal analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and shape analysis. Fragrant water was used as a core material. Thermal and pH stabilities of polystyrene microcapsules were relatively excellent. And functional finishing on cotton fabric with microcapsules was applied.

  • In this study, nano-sized poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) particles containing lavender oil as a core material were prepared by using emulsification-diffusion method. Effects of experimental parameters on the characteristics and the release behavior were examined with a field emission- scanning electron microscope, an electrophoretic light scattering spectrophotometer, a visible spectrophotometer and a high performance liquid chromatography The resulting aromatic particles could be prepared in nano-sized globular shapes with the mean particle size of 224 nm by controlling the experimental conditions. From the evaluation of release properties of aromatic PVAc nanoparticles with or without PVA coating, it was found that the aromatic particles coated with PVA show more sustaining and stable release behaviors. Our research on aromatic PVAc nanoparticles could be applied for durable fragrant finishing for textiles, leather products and so on.
