Near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy is a powerful technique for non-destructive analysis that can be obtained in a wide range of environments. Recently, NIR measurements have been utilized as probe for quantitative analysis in agricultural, industrial, and medical sciences. In addition, it is also possible to make practical application on NIR for molecular structural analysis. In this work, Fourier transform near infrared (FT-NIR) measurements were carried out to utilize extensively in the relative amounts of different secondary structures were employed, such as Iysozyme, concanavalin A, silk fibroin and so on. Several broad NIR bands due to the protein absorption were observed between 4000 and $5000\;^{-1}$. In order to obtain more structural information from these featureless bands, second derivative and Fourier-self-deconvolution procedures were performed. Significant band separation was observed near the feature at $4610\;^{-1}$ ,. Particularly the peak intensity at $4525\;^{-1}$ shows a characteristic change with thermal denaturation of fibroin. The structural information can be also obtained by mid-IR and CD spectral. Correlation of NIR spectra with protein structure is discussed.
Plasma polymerized hexamethyldisiloxane (PPHMDSO) thin films were produced using an electrode capacitively coupled apparatus. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis indicated that the thin film spectra are composed not only of the corresponding monomer bands but also of several new bands. Auger electron spectroscopy analysis indicated that the permeation depth of aluminum into the films is ca. 30nm when top electrode is deposited by evaporation aluminum. The increase of relative dielectric constant and decrease of dielectric loss tangent with the discharge power is originated from high cross-link of the films.
This study was conducted to identify the geographical origin of soybeans in Cheonggukjang by analyzing its organic components and inorganic elements with Fourier transform near-infrared spectroscopy (FT-NIRS) and with energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (ED-XRF) coupled with multivariate statistical analysis. For method development, 280 samples from various regions were collected and analyzed. The discriminant accuracy for the developed methods was 97.5% for FT-NIRS and 98.0% for ED-XRF with multivariate statistical analysis. A validation test confirmed the discriminant accuracy to be 96.3% for FT-NIRS and 95.0% for ED-XRF. Overall, the results showed that methods using FT-NIRS and ED-XRF could be used to identify the geographical origin of Cheonggukjang.

This study used the heat conductive silicone rubber sample of 0.95 mm thickness to research the properties of current by changing voltage. When the 1, 10, 30, 60, and 90 minute have passed, the running current has been measured through the applied voltage range of 200 V~800 V on setting temperature of $110^{\circ}C{\sim}170^{\circ}C$. As the temperature increased in applied voltage of 800 V, so did the current value according to time in proportion to the increasing temperature. In an analysis of FT-IR (fourier transform infrared) spectrum, the hydroxyl radicals group(O-H) was created by effects of the hydrogen that methyl group is eliminated by addition of the cross-linking agent peroxide.

FTIR(Fourier Transform Infrared) spectrometry is a useful method to obtain infrared spectra of materials in gas phase by registering the interferogram of a target material using an interferometer, and then performing a Fourier transform on the interferogram to obtain the spectrum. In this paper, sampling noise effect on signal processing of the rapid scan interferometer was studied with relation to sampling the interferogram points at the improper location and empirically verified.

The surfaces of $SiO_2$ films were treated by PMMA diluted solutions, and analyzed the chemical shift from Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer. The $SiO_2$ film treated by PMMA diluted solution changed the properties of the surface, and showed the blue and red shift according to the concentration of PMMA. The C-H bond elongation effect due to the high electro-negative atom chlorine showed the red shift, and makes the final material with the cross-link structure. The leakage current was efficiently reduced at the sample No 7 with the red shift, witch depends on the electron deficient group.

Using FT-IR, we determined the depth of silylated layers produced from various gas-phase-silylation conditions was proposed by using Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopic analysis. The depth of silylated layer was determined from absorbance measurments of the significant peaks (Si-O-ph, Si-C, Si-H) of FT-IR spectra with background spectrum subtraction method. And the results were compared with thickness measurments of SEM. The results were well agree with SEM. It found to be well suited for determining silylation process window.
Objective: The present study was to investigate the extraction conditions of dietary fiber from dried cassava pulp (DCP) and cassava distiller's dried grains (CDG) under different NaOH concentrations, and the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) was used to determine the dietary fiber components. Methods: The dried samples (DCP and CDG) were treated with various concentrations of NaOH at levels of 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8% using a completely randomized design with 4 replications of each. After extraction, the residual DCP and CDG dietary fiber were dried in a hot air oven at 55℃ to 60℃. Finally, the oven dried extracted dietary fiber was powdered to a particle size of 1 mm. Both extracted dietary fibers were analyzed for their chemical composition and determined by FTIR. Results: The DCP and CDG treated with NaOH linearly or quadratically or cubically (p<0.05) increased the total dietary fiber (TDF) and insoluble fiber (IDF). The optimal conditions for extracting dietary fiber from DCP and CDG were under treatment with 6% and 4% NaOH, respectively, as these conditions yielded the highest TDF and IDF contents. These results were associated with the FTIR spectra integration for a semi-quantitative analysis, which obtained the highest cellulose content in dietary fiber extracted from DCP and CDG with 6% and 4% NaOH solution, respectively. The principal component analysis illustrated clear separation of spectral distribution in cassava pulp extracted dietary fiber (DFCP) and cassava distiller's dried grains extracted dietary fiber (DFCDG) when treated with 6% and 4% NaOH, respectively. Conclusion: The optimal conditions for the extraction of dietary fiber from DCP and CDG were treatment with 6% and 4% NaOH solution, respectively. In addition, FTIR spectroscopy proved itself to be a powerful tool for fiber identification.
Phenol is frequently present as the hazardous pollutant in petrochemical and pesticide industry wastewater. Because of its high toxicity and carcinogenic potential, a proper treatment is needed to reduce the hazards of phenol carrying effluent before being discharged into the environment. Phenol biodegradation with microbial consortium offers a very promising approach now a day's. This study focused on the formulation of phenol degrading bacterial consortium with three bacterial isolates. The bacterial strains Bacillus cereus strain VCRC B540, Bacillus cereus strain BRL02-43 and Oxalobacteraceae strain CC11D were isolated from detergent contaminated soil by soil enrichment technique and was identified by 16s rDNA sequence analysis. Individual cultures were degrade 100 μl phenol in 72 hrs. The formulated bacterial consortium was very effective in degrading 250 μl of phenol at a pH 7 with in 48 hrs. The study further focused on the analysis of the products of biodegradation with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT/IR) and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS). The analysis showed the complete degradation of phenol and the production of Benzene di-carboxylic acid mono (2-ethylhexyl) ester and Ethane 1,2- Diethoxy- as metabolic intermediates. Biodegradation with the aid of microorganisms is a potential approach in terms of cost-effectiveness and elimination of secondary pollutions. The present study established the efficiency of bacterial consortium to degrade phenol. Optimization of biodegradation conditions and construction of a bioreactor can be further exploited for large scale industrial applications.
To conserve historic textiles, analyses of textile materials, pollutants and deterioration are prerequisite steps. Based upon analytical results, guides for conservation of historic textiles are established. In analyses of textile materials, pollutants and deterioration, there are chemical methods(burning, solubility and staining), physical methods(microscopy and density) and instrumental analysis(Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Fourier Transform Raman Spectroscopy(FT-Raman), Gas Chromatography(GC), Mass Spectroscopy(MS), X-Ray Fluorescence (EDXRF, WDXRF), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy(EDS), and X-Ray Diffraction(XRD), Tensile Testing Machine etc.). Combination of qualitative and quantitative analyses makes accurate diagnosis of textile condition possible. As examples of analyses and conservation of historic textiles, Chuninsan(19 century) similar to sunshade with handing down historic textile and golden decorative skirt(17 century) with excavated costume are taken.
