In this study, we attempt to improve analytical methods in auditing by applying Artificial Intelligence(AI) methods including Artificial Neural Networks(ANN) and Case-Based Reasoning(CBR), and to perform pattern recognition of the investigation signals generated by analytical procedures. Five years of audited financial data from a large-sized firm were used to calculate four commonly applied financial ratios. This exploratory study shows that the use of AI methods to analyze patterns of related fluctuations across numerous financial ratios provides improved performance in recognizing material misstatements within the financial accounts.

As different service classifications for existing and new business data services, it is hard to gather necessary data for the service providers to set their strategies and regulations are also applied asymmetrically to each service provider. Therefore an appropriate market classification is required for the business data services. The Hendry model is selected in this paper to analyze substitution degree among services and then Hendry model is applied to competition among four business data services. As a result, it is shown that these services compete directly and future market shares of services are forecasted and positioning strategy for new services is considered.

With the advances in concurrent engineering, schedulability has become an important design issue in machine loading and routing procedure. In this paper, four rules to improve schedulability of loading and routing are formulated as a mixed-integer programming model based on machine, routing and tool flexibilities. In this model, these rules are represented as an objective function or constraints. The impact of rules on the quality of schedules for the result of loading and routing is measured with makespan, throughput and average machine utilization.

This paper investigates the productivity growth of four manufacturing industries employing TFP and Malmquist productivity indexes on data for 13 OECD countries covering 1977-1990, and estimates the effects of R&D investment on productivity growth. The results show that there is a large difference between these indexes, and that R&D effects on productivity using TFP and Malmquist productivity indexes are different in value and significance.

This paper is concerned with the application of the intervention analysis to the wholesale Trice index of Korea. There were four big shocks on the WPI during the last two decades, which were caused by the series of oil price hikes and changes in the foreign exchange rate. Intervention analysis of these multiple shocks revealed the nature and causalities of each shocks to the general price level of Korea.

In this study, the methods and equipment that can be used to detail the anthropomorphic data were developed. This new method that utilizes the Moire' interferometry and image processing technique is less expensive than the conventional methods. We took 36 subjects (18 years to 28 years old). The face area was calculated based on contour information. The cluster analysis about those data enables us to classify our subjects into four groups.

For various fuzzy numbers, many operations have been calculated. We generalize about triangular fuzzy number and calculate four operations based on the Zadeh's extension principle, addition A(+)B, subtraction A(-)B, multiplication A(${\cdot}$)B and division A(/)B for two generalized triangular fuzzy sets.

This paper considers warranty servicing for repairable products when product lifetimes are phase-type(PH) distributions. Two replace-repair strategies are analyzed based on renwal processes. The quantities of interest can be expressed in terms of the renewal function which, in general, is very difficult to evaluate. By exploiting properties of PH distributions we obtain simplification to evaluate these performance measures. Numerical examples for four different PH distributions with typical functions are presented and the results are discussed.

In this paper, we compares the business failure prediction accuracy among Linear Programming Discriminant Analysis(LPDA) model, Multivariate Discriminant Analysis (MDA) model and logit analysis model. The Data for 417 companies analyzed were gathered from KIS-FAS Published by Korea Information Service in 1999. The result of comparison for four time horizons shows that LPDA Is advantageous in prediction accuracy over the other two models when over all tilt ratio and business failure accuracy are considered simultaneously.

This paper deals with four types of multiple unit simultaneous auctions such as the discriminating. uniform-price, lowest accepted-price, and progressive auctions. These auctions have been studied by Vickrey, Ortega-Reichert, Herris and Raviv and so forth. In this paper, their studies are extended to the case with a reserve price and an entry fee, and then the equilibrium bidding strategy are presented. Further, those are analyzed with respect to the change of a reserve price, an entry fee, and the number of bidders and objects.
