This study described computer aided die design system for cold forging of non-axisymmetric parts such as gears and splines. To design the cold forging die, an integrated approach based on a rule-base system and commercial F. E. code were adopted. This system is implemented on the personal computer and its environment is a commercial CAD package named as Auto CAD. The system includes four modules. In the initial data input module, variables which are necessary to design of die are inputted by user and die material are selected from the database according to the variables. In the analysis and redesign module, stress distribution acting on the designed die is analyzed by commercial FEM code NISA II with elastic mode. If die failure predicted, the designed die would modified in four ways to prevent die failure in both states of stress free and pressurizing. The developed system provides useful date and powerful capabilities for die design of non-axisymmetric parts.
We experimented on memory multichip modules to increase the packing density of memory devices and to improve their electrical characteristics. A 128K$\times$8bit SRAM module was made of four 32K$\times$8bit SRAM memory chips. The memory multichip module was constructed on a low-cost double sided PCB(printed circuit boared) substrate. In the process of fabricating a multichip module. we focused on the improvement of its electrical characteristics. volume, and weight by employing bare memory chips. The characteristics of the bare chip module was compared with that of the module with four packaged chips. We conducted circuit routing with a PCAD program, and found the followings: the routed area for the module with bare memory chips reduced to a quarter of that area for module with packaged memory chips. 1/8 in volume, 1/5 in weight. Signal transmission delay times calculated by using transmission line model was reduced from 0.8 nsec to 0.4 nsec only on the module board, but the coupling coefficinet was not changed. Thus, we realized that the electrical characteristics of multichip packages on PCB board be improved greatly when using bare memory chips.

Decay heat residuals of spent nuclear fuel (SNF), i.e., the differences between calculations and measurements, were obtained previously for various spent fuel assemblies (SFA) using the Polaris module of the SCALE code system. In this paper, we compare decay heat residuals to their uncertainties, focusing on four PWRs and four BWRs. Uncertainties in nuclear data and model inputs are propagated stochastically through calculations using the SCALE/Sampler super-sequence. Total uncertainties could not explain the residuals of two SFAs measured at GE-Morris. The combined z-scores for all SFAs measured at the Clab facility could explain the resulting deviations. Nuclear-data-related uncertainties contribute more in the high burnup SFAs. Design and operational uncertainties tend to contribute more to the total uncertainties. Assembly burnup is a relevant variable as it correlates significantly with the SNF decay heat. Additionally, burnup uncertainty is a major contributor to decay heat uncertainty, and assumptions relating to these uncertainties are crucial. Propagation of nuclear data and design and operational uncertainties shows that the analyzed assemblies respond similarly with high correlation. The calculated decay heats are highly correlated in the PWRs and BWRs, whereas lower correlations were observed between decay heats of SFAs that differ in their burnups.
In this study, flow analysis and dehumidification experiment were conducted on hollow fiber membrane module to determine the dehumidification characteristics of its various configurations. A quantitative analysis of the CFD for four different models with a temperature of $30^{\circ}C$ and 30%RH inlet humidity was conducted. Each model has different shape parameters i.e. the number of hollow fiber membranes and the presence or absence of baffles. After comparison between the flow analysis results and dehumidification experiment results, the percentage error was found to be approximately 2%. The moisture removal rate for each model was calculated using flow analysis data. It was found that the moisture removal rate of refined model with three baffles and eight hollow fiber membranes was highest among the four modeled modules of hollow fiber membrane one, i.e. about 60%.
In this paper, we present a new anchor shot detection system which is a core step of the preprocessing process for the news video analysis. The proposed system is composed of four modules and operates sequentially: 1) skin color detection module for reducing the candidate face regions; 2) face detection module for finding the key-frames with a facial data; 3) vector representation module for the key-frame images using a non-negative matrix factorization; 4) anchor shot detection module using a support vector data description. According to our computer experiments, the proposed system shows not only the comparable accuracy to the recent other results, but also more faster detection rate than others.

This paper reports a combined depth- and model-based face detection and tracking approach. The proposed algorithm consists of four functional modules; i) color-based candidate region extraction, ii) generation of the depth histogram for handling occlusion, iii) rotation-invariant face region detection using ellipse fitting, and iv) face tracking based on motion prediction. This technique solved the occlusion problem under complicated environment by detecting the face candidate region based on the depth-based histogram and skin colors. The angle of rotation was estimated by the ellipse fitting method in the detected candidate regions. The face region was finally determined by inversely rotating the candidate regions by the estimated angle using Haar-like features that were robustly trained robustly by the frontal face.
In a hybrid three-layer control architecture(deliberative, sequencing, and reflexive), the lowest reflexive layer consists of resources, actions, an action coordinator, and motion controllers. Because the execution of individual components in the reflexive layer should be done in real-time, each component has to be simple and, due to this reason, the Linux-RTAI(Real-Time Application Interface for Linux) has been used as an operating system. In this paper, a navigation control architecture, which combines the components in the reflexive layer and the navigation-related modules in the sequencing layer, is proposed. And then, as basic components, four actions(Goto, Avoid, Move, and EmergencyStop) are designed. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed architecture and the performance of individual associated actions.
The necessity of imformation on product design process is increased in recently years, because a product can be called a mass of information and becomes more complex as long as technology is developed. But the present product development method is like a relay race. In this sequential process, information is transferred from one department to other departments like \"over the wall\". And communication gaps among departments are generated, so imformation cannot be controlled very well. Therefore it is needed to innovate the design process. The information system proposedin this study is an application software which can be useful for integrated product design process. It has been developed primarily for use in IBN PC and windows environment. It comprises four functional modules; functions of handing the overall project information (document, ideaskech, rendering, drawing); functions of decision making production problems in design project process; functions of groupware which can link with other departments; functions of comprehensive database with production.roduction.
For the possible application of monitoring or diagnosing heart sounds in an ubiquitous healthcare environment. a small and light electro-stethoscope that can be attached in human body should be exploited. With this aim, this study proposes a new style of electro-stethoscope device that is composed of four hardware modules in wearable style. For this ambulatory heart sound collecting device, the several tests must be performed to check portability and material capability for collecting heart sounds. It turned out to be that the multi-channel electro-stethoscope can detect heart sound signals well even if it is not pinpointed in the accurate stethoscope point on a heart. Consequently, our ambulatory electro-stethoscope hardware system can be applied to monitor or diagnose abnormal heart sounds in the ubiquitous healthcare system.
