Empirical Study on Survival Factors of Youth Start-Ups (청년창업기업의 생존요인에 관한 실증연구)

  • This study analyzes the factors affecting the survival of young start-up companies. A youth start-up company was defined as a company with a founder's age under 39. The study was based on evaluation data from 3,540 companies evaluated by the Technology Guarantee Fund to support youth start-up guarantees during the period from 2012 to 2015. In this study, independent variables were defined as founder characteristics, start-up environment, and start-up strategy, and entrepreneurship, knowledge level, and development capabilities were set as variables for start-up characteristics, competition conditions and comparative advantage with alternatives in the start-up environment, and item novelty, commercialization plan and financing plan were set as variables. For variable measurement, the evaluation index of the youth start-up evaluation model of the Technology Guarantee Fund was used. Management performance was defined as the survival of a company, and the survival of 12, 36, 60, and 84 months was measured based on the occurrence of insolvency registered by the Korea Technology Guarantee Fund. The Cox proportional risk model was used for hypothesis testing. As a result of the analysis, knowledge level and development capability were statistically significant in the characteristics of the founder, and the financing plan in the start-up strategy was statistically significant regardless of the survival period. Among the start-up strategies, the novelty of the item had a positive effect on survival after 36 months. Entrepreneurship was significant only in 12-month survival. The most important order for survival was identified in the order of financing plan, knowledge level, item novelty and development capability, of which the founder's knowledge level in the beginning and the funding plan in the second half had the greatest impact.

  • This study is preliminary founding start-ups of restaurant entrepreneurs to study the characteristics of management in order to provide useful information was studied. Survey period is from 2013 March 15 to August 31. Hypothesis Testing in accordance with results of this study are as follows. Third, restaurant entrepreneurs of the store operations management has integrity, words and actions match, such as the degree of belief in the promise of reliability and the possibility of failure, which means the degree of recognition and response efforts are having an impact deal. Fourth, restaurant of food service management services and after-sales service has impact on the founder of the self-efficacy and self-efficacy of pre-service features and reliability founder affecting. Fifth, the revenue of the restaurant for dealing with customer complaints management includes efforts are having an impact. Sixth, restaurant founder of reliability and customer care has influenced the self-efficacy. Exploring Social Entrepreneurship of the First Social Enterprise in South Korea: The Case of the Founder of Dong Wha Pharm

  • A great deal of attention has been paid to entrepreneurship and social enterprises that help improve societies' ability to solve social problems and develop new ways of thinking (Drucker 1995). Dong Wha Pharm, founded in 1897, was the first social enterprise in South Korea. The purpose of this study is to provide meaningful insights into the theoretical development of social entrepreneurship and how to achieve social innovation by fostering social entrepreneurship. Drawing on the five critical elements of social entrepreneurship developed by Dees (1998), we explore social entrepreneurship by investigating the first Korean social entrepreneur, Kang Min, the founder of Dong Wha, a 125-year-old company in South Korea. The findings offer meaningful and valuable insights to the literature on social entrepreneurship and to current and potential social entrepreneurs wanting to find new ways to achieve social improvement and move society forward.

  • The religious doctrine of the Daesunjinlihoe is composed of a next's 4 kinds. The first item is the object of worship. This is the starting point to understand one religion. The second is the main thesis. This is the intellectual expression of original religious experience of the founder of religion. The third is the creed. This regulates a faith practice of the association, being the faith confession. The fourth item is the purpose. The purpose is the ultimate state which the religion association intends to. This has the value as worldwide idea, including the personality completion of the individual. There are three kind feature of religious doctrine in Daesunjinlihoe. They are as follows. The first thing is the intellectual expression of the religious experience and it is the original of the founder. The second is the critical succession and transfiguration of traditional thought. The third is that it displays a future-oriented and new thought.

  • This study was performed to empirically verify how the degree of entrepreneurial self-efficacy, the degree of work value which each founder gains from starting a shop, and the degree of usefulness perception of the entrepreneurial service given by the public sector influence founder's entrepreneurial intentions. The degree of entrepreneurial self-efficacy and internal work value was found to influence entrepreneurial intentions. In addition, would-be coffee shop founders' usefulness perception of entrepreneurial service had an impact on entrepreneurial intention. The results of this study could allow a wider understaning of what factors influence entrepreneurial intentions of a coffee shop founder and the importance of governmental support(education, funding, skills, and management).

The Origin of the Ancient Place Name, Dumo (두모系 古地名의 起源)

  • This study attempted to grasp the etimological meaning of the ancient place name Dumo, and to identify when the ancient place names in Dumo system started to be used by Korean people. The results of analysis of generic toponym and specific toponym of the ancient place names in Dumo system are as follow: Firstly, Chumong, the name of the founder of the Koguryo Dynasty, and his two sons Biryu,the founder of the kingdom Biryu-Paekche, and Oncho, the founder of the kingdom Paekche, are presumed to originate from place name, not from person's name. Particularly, the name of Chumong is considered to be a person's name which comes from Dumo system. Oncho, who claimed to be a son of Chumong, a person of north-Puyo, transterred the capital of his kingdom to the present site of Dumo in Chunggung-dong, Hanam city in present, which is thought to be an early capital of Paekche or a part of it. Secondly, the word of Dumo means a warm space which is surrounded by mountains, protected from wind, endowed with river which provided with water. This kind of spatial cognition gradually evolved as the prototypical locational artifice which was diffused to Manchuria and Japan, and is believed to be introduced to the Korean Peninsula.

  • The purpose of this study is to grasp the correlation between network and firm's performance by analyzing the perception and characteristics of network of business founder and investor from the perspective of the network. We selected a TIPS support program which is evaluated to be a best practice as a research target for empirical analysis. The empirical results using social network and statistical analysis, shows that the stronger the investor's network connectivity, the more likely it is that the investor's start - up succeeds in attracting subsequent investment. In addition, both the entrepreneurial team and the management think that the internal human network between the enterprise and the investor plays an important role in inducing investment or exploring the company, and recognizes that the value of the human network will have a significant influence on the enterprise value evaluation or investment decision.

Transmission and Death Rates in Transgenic Mice Containing Growth Hormone Receptor Gene (성장호르몬수용체 유전자를 지닌 형질전환생쥐의 세대전달율 및 치사율)

  • To study the signaling effect of growth hormone (GH) in vivo on animal physiology, transgenic mice containing GH Receptor (GHR) gene fused to metallothionein promoter were produced by DNA microinjection into one-cell stage embryos. Three founder mice were produced with transgenic mice with approximately 4~6 copies of GHR genes and transgene was transmitted into the progeny. The founder mice were mated with normal mice to produce F$_1$ mice, and intergation and transmission of transgene were checked by polymerase chain reaction and Southern blot methods. Transmission rate of GHR transgenic mice were 20~50% in F$_1$ generation and 50% in F$_2$ generation which means that some founder mice were mosaic and transgene in F$_1$ mice was transmitted to F$_2$ progeny with Mendelian ratio. Death rate of GHR transgenic mice after birth was about 10~30% in F$_1$ and F$_2$ progenies indicating that GHR gene may affect death of transgnenic progeny.
