  • The purpose of this study is to propose a space design plan for brand experience that can enhance consumer satisfaction and brand awareness by conducting a survey on the consumer satisfaction with space expression methods in an eyewear flagship store. Through theoretical review, brand experience was defined as the 'process and outcome of experiences caused by stimulations associated with the brand in a series of processes. After reviewing previous studies, 5 elements of brand experience such as the sensory, emotional, behavioral, cognitive and relational experiences were extracted. Upon deriving a checklist through these elements, a survey was conducted. The analysis of the survey showed that the process composed of cognitive experiences that promoted to remember the brand was intensively expressed in spaces. Thus, the results of this study are as follows. First, the process composed of cognitive experience should be applied with a higher priority to increase brand awareness, and such a process accompanied by the behavioral and sensory experiences. Second, beyond a simple visual experience, various senses such as olfactory and auditory senses should be stimulated, and behavioral experience provided as an experience factor. Third, brand image and sales spaces should be composed under a single theme with a connectivity. Fourth, in external spaces, the curiosity of consumers should be stimulated with a theme matching the brand image. Fifth, it was found that the visitor satisfaction was higher when formative elements consisted of not only static but also dynamic features. Sixth, among the elements of brand experience, emotional experience should be improved to complete the 'process and outcome of experiences'. It is considered that further studies are needed, which expand the cases of eyewear flagship stores not only in Korea but also overseas, and propose more specific plans and design strategies through in-depth interview methods in the future.

  • Prairie style houses in first stages of Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture activity pay a leading role in the process of house modernization as reflecting social and economic circumstances of the time based on traditional house style of the States. Wright's first work after retiring from L. Sullivan's office, Winslow house in 1983 is pioneering work predicting prairie house. This is because this house has only one modern architecture language of Wright and follow no style prevailing of the time. So, a researcher analyse Winslow house within the framework of functional thinking and new formative value creation in the modernization process of western house. Through this, The goal of this study is to find out modern characteristics and the meaning of Winslow house in modernization process prior to the 1900s. Firstly, the followings are modern characteristics of Winslow house. First, Winslow house has original planning breaking from custom based on modern functional and reasonable thoughts, and has practical space reflecting resident's inner demand. Second, Winslow house has modern new plastic value through original exterior breaking from custom and integrated shape of inner-outer space and structure. Secondly, the followings are the meaning of Winslow house in modernization process prior to the 1900s. First, Wright intend to suggest directions of residence modernization through Winslow house before designing Prairie style houses in earnest. Second, mixing of modern vocabulary and eclecticism show a sign of residence modernization process on the time. Third, inner-outer flowing space, opening space concept of Winslow house has innovative meanings predicting spacial characteristics of modern architecture.

  • When a product is designed, user's requirements should be well analyzed and applied to the design so that the psychological and aesthetic factors of a product can be accurately conveyed to consumers. The essence of product development is to analyze the changes in the purchasing tendency of consumers and the needs of times, find out user experiences to apply to a design, and establish the objective of product development that well considers those. Designing should be recognized as one that designs even the sensitivity and experience created in the relationship with users, beyond the conventional notion of design that it draws the physical form of a product. As the subjects that design should consider have expanded like this, it has become important that today's design provides a new experience as well as simply develops formative elements based on the functions of an object. As a result, it becomes impossible to accomplish such objective only with the traditional design process that existing designers have stuck to so far. In this respect, this study is aimed to draw out a system and methodology for a user-oriented design process so that design can provide expanded experience to users from product form, applied material, and service.

  • For every country, the flag is a major symbol that represents the country. Establishing image though the use of the country's symbol is more important for achieving national competitiveness in this global age. In Korea, Taekuki has not been actively applied to fashion products, however Korean people began to realize the Taekuki as a motif of fashion with 2002 World Cup. Thus, research on fashion product development applying Taekuki is needed. This research developed designs for fashion product development applying Taekuki. In addition, through suggesting various applied motives, this research explored the product possibility of global fashion design that represents Korean identity and fashion. For research method, after research on fashion design process, design development was progressed according to the 4-phases that comprehends processes previous researchers presented. First, in the problem recognition phase, background on the introduction of Taekuki to products and Taekuki fashion during 2002 World Cup was analyzed. Then, the need and possibility of fashion product development applying Taekuki's formative characteristics were found. Second, in research and analysis phase, meaning and history of Taekuki as well as flag fashion product developments in the U.S. and England examples were reviewed. Also, individual interviews with experts and consumers were conducted to collect qualitative data regarding product and design direction. Third, in idealization for problem solving phase, 62 designs including 43 apparels and 19 accessories were emerged. • Korea's design developed closely related to economic growth and plays a key role in material growth, wealth growth, and consumption promotion today. Of course, it is true that Korea's design level has grown significantly, but it has not reached a trend-leading level. Behind this, it is thought that one of the reasons behind this is that most design companies are biased towards trend research and benchmarking from a supplier perspective, resulting in the creation of design sculptures. If you look at the examples that lead the world's design trends, you can see that their subjective thinking from the author's point of view accounts for a significant portion of design sculpture creation. Through an in-depth interview with designers and artists at both extremes of the spectrum of thought, I want to look at examples of self-expression design development and get implications for suggesting conceptual models of self-expression design sculpture. Through this, a conceptual model was proposed, which is organized into a five-step design creation process in which balanced thinking is achieved by combining the thinking system and process according to the writer's point of view with the majority of design creation dominated by supplier perspective.

  • The Chaos theory of complexity and Fractal theory which became a prominent figure as a new paradigm of natural science should be understood not as whole, and not into separate elements of nature. Fractal Dimensions are used to measure the complexity of objects. We now have ways of measuring things that were traditionally meaningless or impossible to measure. They are capable of describing many irregularly shaped objects including man and nature. It is compatible method of application to express complexity of nature in the dimension of non-fixed number by placing our point of view to lean toward non-linear, diverse, endless time, and complexity when we look at our world. Fractal Dimension allows us to measure the complexity of an object. Having a wide application of fractal geometry and Chaos theory to the art field is the territory of imagination where art and science encounter each other and yet there has not been much research in this area. The formative word has been extracted in this study by analyzing objective data to grasp formative principle and geometric characteristic of (this)distinct figures of Fractals. With this form of research, it is not so much about fractal in mathematics, but the concept of self-similarity and recursiveness, randomness, devices expressed from unspeakable space, and the formative similarity to graphic design are focused in this study. The fractal figures have characteristics in which the structure doesn't change the nature of things of the figure even in the process if repeated infinitely many times, the limit of the process produces is fractal. Almost all fractals are at least partially self-similar. This means that a part of the fractal is identical to the entire fractal itself even if there is an enlargement to infinitesimal. This means any part has all the information to recompose as whole. Based on this scene, the research is intended to examine possibility of analysis of fractals in geometric characteristics in plasticity toward forms in graphic design. As a result, a beautiful proportion appears in graphic design with calculation of mathematic. It should be an appropriate equation to express nature since the fractal dimension allows us to measure the complexity of an object and the Fractla geometry should pick out high addition in value of peculiarity and characteristics in the complex of art and science. At the stage where the necessity of accepting this demand and adapting ourselves to the change is gathering strength is very significant in this research.
