A Study of Fashion illustration Applying Formative of Folk Painting (민화의 조형적 양식을 응용한 패션 일러스트레이션 연구)

  • In the modem society, people try to represent and protect their traditional arts in aesthetic way along with the global society. The proposal of this thesis is about the fashion illustration that has adopted the folklike formative arts. 1 prefer the formative character rather then the universal character and I would like to use of folk paintings far the fashion illustration. Because the formative character of folk paintings is very expressional, we are able to draw a fashion illustration in easy, new, creative and less difficult way. The fashion illustration has to be a specialized field from the formative arts, and we need to study in a new way as well. We draw fashion illustration through the understanding of folk paintings and the study of analysis in formative. As a result of this study, we could draw a fashion illustration which is very abstract, exaggerative and simple. We also could expect the free hand drawing lines on this illustration. In these fashion illustrations, the human bodies let us fret the artists' tense, speed, and power. According to the important character of folk painting, which is the beauty of color, these fashion illustrations have expressed more color intensive. In the falk paintings there is a kind of rules to make color order, so the fashion illustrations that we drew have the bright and clear color combination. Because the folk paintings shouldn't be the artistic but should be the realistic, the fashion illustrations concentrate on the real subject. It is very natural looking that use the natural dyes in the fashion illustrations. According to this kind of art task, fashion illustration will be a certain part of the illustration in the modem society.

  • Beauty of balance, can be found in antique furniture of the Joseon Dynasty. Balance, give comfort and peace of mind to people. Even today, the balance in various fields, it is easily viewed, and an important one element indispensable in the design. Various lighting is an essential element of the interior to create an atmosphere of space. It is also useful in a variety of ways for beauty, emotional effect, such as the switching of visual atmosphere. This design was designed with the concept of balanced. In addition, I have applied a simple graphic appearance. To give the fun and tension while giving it a well-balanced when you meet the figure. The design of this study is nothing more than a single direction. It will be in the traveling direction of the future as a designer by using a simple structure and phenomena that appear in life, is given to the design without the feeling of rejection to the user.

A Study on the Formative Elements of Neo-plasticism Applied on Contemporary Fashion (현대패션에 응용된 신조형주의의 조형요소에 관한 연구 - 몬드리안 회화를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relation between the trend of art and fashion which predominate a certain time. In order to achieve this goal, this study intends to analyze how plasticity found in Mondrian's pictures are applied to modern fashion with its focus on formative elements. Mondrian was ahead of abstractionism, a major trend of contemporary art, and defined the theory of neo-plasticism. The theory of neo-plasticism defined by Mondrian is characterized by the limited expression of lines and shapes by using only vertical and horizontal straight lines, and right angles and four-sided figures weaved by the lines, and the use of achromatic color(black, white, and gray) in three primary colors(red, blue, and yellow). Based on his theory, he fully displayed the world of geometric abstraction. Mondrian's formative elements which have been applied in modern fashion can be divided into shape and color, For the element of shape, first, horizontal and vertical lines have been applied to patterns, trimmings, detail, and plane of textiles through simplification of design, representing proportion, balance, and stress in a silhouette, Second, plane and diamond shapes made of horizontal and vertical lines have been applied to textiles or patterns with uniqueness. For the element of color, first, three primary colors and achromatic colors are used to seek the aesthetics of balance and harmony that are produced in the strain of conflict through brightness, chroma, and complementary colors, Second, primary colors of high chroma and brightness which are much stronger than pictures are used to express a modern sense. Formative elements of neo-plasticism, which have been applied to modern fashion suggested by this study, are connected with the trend of art contemporary designers have borrowed, Accordingly, this study will become a very helpful material which provides designers with original ideas in developing materials and patterns which connect design with art.

In our cultural heritage with a ethnicity unique unparalleled in the world, and a new recognition of traditional culture and identity of its own in our country, lattice door flower temple the beauty of Korea in the way you tell, it was modernized by interpreting a new one to utilize as a design element of a wood lattice door flower temple.   • Program learning outcome is widely used for assessing and improving program quality. There are various methodologies that can measure program quality and improve program learning outcomes. In this paper, we used formative approach in Capstone design course, since it is the most effective in terms of improving program learning outcomes due to the course's intrinsic nature. To integrate a formative approach into Capstone design course, we develop a feedback structure which is a key element in formative approach and define several sub phases that manage feedback structures and their own evaluation criteria. As a result, we observed a noticeable improvement for students performance in capstone design course.

A Study on the Figuration of Korean Traditional Pattern Images (한국 전통문양의 이미지 형상화 소고)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the images and characteristic formative elements of Korean traditional patterns. The Korean pattern image could be interpreted into visual elements of design based on the images, the characteristic formative elements of Korean traditional patterns, and their relationships. Fourteen patterns selected from 5 groups of Korean patterns were used as stimuli. An image evaluation using a 2-point sementica scale of 19 bipolar adjectives, and an impression evaluation of which results were presented by visual drawing using lines and shapes were carried out. The data were analyzed by correspondence analysis and cluster analysis. The major findings are as follows; 1. Fourteen patterns and 19 adjectives were marked on a perception map composed of two (x and y-) axes. The bipoles of x- and y axes were soft-hard and splendid-artless, respectively. 2. Four clusters semerged to account for the dimensional sturucture of 14 patterns and 19 adjectives. These were splendid image, soft image, individualistic image, and sophisticated image. However there was no pattern which belonged to the cluster, sophisticated image. The Korean pattern image was founded to be better related to the kind of patterns than the type of patterns. 3. The characteristic formative elements obtained from the impression test were contour of motif, repeated line or shape, various curved lines, and decorative elements. 4. The splendid image was related to Bongwhang patterns and detailed line and complexity. The individualistic image was related to the abstractive form of Bongwhang pattern and the decorative form of Cloud pattern both of which have the characteristics of point-symmetry and abstraction, and Turtle-back pattern. In this case, the related charac-teristic formative element was identified to be repeated lines. The soft image was related to Moran, Cloud, and Taegeuk patterns. The related characteristic elements were various types of curved lines, decorative elements, and rounded contours.

Characteristics of Formative Factor Influencing Robot Design's Preference Response (로봇디자인에 대한 선호 반응에 영향을 미치는 조형요소의 특성)

  • The fundamental goal of this study is to analyze characteristics of combined relations of formative element factors that compose robot's face based on a result of preference response from robot's design. Also, in order to improve preference from the analysis result, this study intended to inquire into possibilities of suggesting design guideline. For these, pictures of 27 different kinds of robot faces were selected as experimental stimuli, and experiments of preference response and association response were performed. As a result of the experiments, various characteristics were achieved such as robot's eye shape having greater influences than facial structure, etc. Based on the result, formative element factor characteristics that could positively influence preference response on robot's face could be drawn and a basic design guideline could also be suggested. An eye should be oval so that the length-to-width ratio may be 1.67:1. The distance between both eyes should be 35% of the facial width. Also, eyes should be above the central latitude of the face so that they may be visually stable. It is advisable to round the face generally. Eyes should be harmonious with the face so that the robot may seem cute and charming.

  • For an artwork, color, shape and structure are key factors to create emotional atmosphere of the wrok. And it is fair to say that color is the most important element of the work. The tone of color reflects the joys and sorrows of the picture and the severity of the work's plot. The audience is to be attractted by colors' harmonious or passionate in this visual feast. Fusion controlling of color tone is mainly determined by color gamut that accounted for the vast area of the picture.

Also the life method from left was exchanged with stand-up meal and it became simplification and also the form of So-ban changed in the life method which is controlled. If the ship construction trillion So-ban was the furniture which is used with putting first and today the So-ban with variation of form or the material changed with entirely different role. The So-ban of today was used in the pattern element which is form freely to appear, dual anger there is a possibility of knowing the fact that it is turning out with the So-ban which expresses a geometric pattern with the present-day sense. Today of the So-ban it will pattern it will rightly use Beak-je, the feature person who is the possibility this pattern showing It is soft with the sharp, soft beauty of curved line and rectilinear which is refined, omission and emphasizing which are bold today It applied in So-ban design.

Study on Japanese Traditional Aesthetic Sense in Modern Fashion (현대패션에 표현된 일본 전통 미의식에 관한 연구)

  • Today, each country's cultural communications are carried briskly and Japan already showed a new trend of world fashion by accepting its own design with aesthetic sense to western Europe in 1970s and built the new area of Japanese fashion. This special traditional aesthetic sense, formed by social, cultural, geographic and religious conditions, is roughly divided into decorated and undecorated beauty; decorated one means splendidness, coquetry, exaggeration and was represented ornamental modification of nature object in dress pattern as ornamental expression means; undecorated one, based on Zen-thought, means simplicity, purity, ugliness and Japan gave rise to the new beauty by receiving and adapting continental culture to its culture openly and creating and developing its own beauty. This study aims to examine the aesthetic sense shown in Japanese traditional dress and understand how traditional beauty is used and applied to modern fashion and analyze the diversity of Japanese traditional aesthetic sense shown in modern fashion. For material analysis, total 220 were collected of photograph related to formative element existence according to aesthetic sense shown in Japanese traditional fashion design using literature research and visual data. The existences of Japanese image among them were confirmed by clothing and fashion department majors so that 7 pieces of which were selected as final analysis object. Likewise, the result suggests that Japanese traditional aesthetic sense creates global design based on folk element-used identity as well as new beauty by adapting continental culture to its culture openly and producing and developing its own creative beauty.
