GC/MS 분석과 베이지안 분류 모형을 이용한 새 윤활유와 사용 엔진 오일의 동일성 추적과 분류 (Identification and classification of fresh lubricants and used engine oils by GC/MS and bayesian model)

  • 국내 시판제품으로 서울시내에서 구입한 산업용 윤활유, 이륜구동 윤활유, 선박용 윤활유, 자동차용 윤활유(엔진오일, 수동 변속기 기어유, 자동변속기 오일) 등 80종(기유 4종 포함)의 새 윤활유들(80 classes)과 8종의 경유 차량과 16종의 휘발유 차량에 각각 3종씩의 경유와 휘발유 전용 엔진 오일로 교환하여 차량별 및 주행거리별로 각각 채취한 사용 엔진 오일 86종을 GC/MS로 분석한 TIC로 데이터베이스를 만들고, 새 윤활유와 사용 엔진오일들의 동일성 추적과 차량별 분류를 위하여 차원 축소와 베이지안 방식의 분류 모형을 개발하였다. 새 윤활유의 분류는 웨이블렛 적합방법과 주성분 분석방법으로 차원 축소하여 베이지안 방식의 분류 모형을 적용한 결과 각각 97.5%와 96.7%의 정분류율을 보여 차원 축소는 웨이블렛 적합방법이 더 좋은 결과를 나타냈다. 그리고 새 윤활유의 분류에서 선택된 웨이블렛 적합방법의 차원 축소와 베이지안 방식의 분류 모형에 의한 사용 엔진 오일의 차량별 분류(총 24 classes)는 86.4%의 정분류율을 보였고, 경유 차량인지 휘발유 차량인지를 구분하는 차량 연료 타입별 분류(총 2 classes)는 99.6%의 정분류율을 나타내었고, 사용 엔진 오일 브랜드별 분류(총 6 classes)는 97.3%의 정분류율을 나타내었다.

Study on the spectroscopic reconstruction of explosive-contaminated overlapping fingerprints using the laser-induced plasma emissions

  • Reconstruction and separation of explosive-contaminated overlapping fingerprints constitutes an analytical challenge of high significance in forensic sciences. Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) allows real-time chemical mapping by detecting the light emissions from laser-induced plasma and can offer powerful means of fingerprint classification based on the chemical components of the sample. During recent years LIBS has been studied one of the spectroscopic techniques with larger capability for forensic sciences. However, despite of the great sensitivity, LIBS suffers from a limited detection due to difficulties in reconstruction of overlapping fingerprints. Here, the authors propose a simple, yet effective, method of using chemical mapping to separate and reconstruct the explosive-contaminated, overlapping fingerprints. A Q-switched Nd:YAG laser system (1064 nm), which allows the laser beam diameter and the area of the ablated crater to be controlled, was used to analyze the chemical compositions of eight samples of explosive-contaminated fingerprints (featuring two sample explosive and four individuals) via the LIBS. Then, the chemical validations were further performed by applying the Raman spectroscopy. The results were subjected to principal component and partial least-squares multivariate analyses, and showed the classification of contaminated fingerprints at higher than 91% accuracy. Robustness and sensitivity tests indicate that the novel method used here is effective for separating and reconstructing the overlapping fingerprints with explosive trace.

Forensic STR Analysis of Mixed Chimerism after Allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplantation

  • Multiplex PCR-based short tandem repeat (STR) analysis is considered as a good tool for monitoring bone marrow engraftment after sex-mismatched allogeneic transplantation and provides a sensitive and accurate assessment of the contribution of both donor and/or recipient cells in post-transplantation specimens. Forensic STR analysis and quantitative real time PCR are used to determine the proportion of donor versus recipient each contained within the total DNA. The STR markers were co-amplified in a single reaction by using commercial $PowerPlex^{(R)}$ 16 system and $AmpFISTR^{(R)}$ $Identifiler^{(R)}$ / $Yfiler^{(R)}$ PCR amplification kits. Separation of the PCR products and fluorescence detection were performed by ABI $PRIS^{(R)}$ 3100 Genetic Analyzer with capillary electrophoresis. The $GeneMapper^{TM}$ ID software were used for size calling and analysis of STR profiles. Extracted DNA was quantified by the $Quantifiler^{TM}$ Human DNA / Y Human Male DNA Quantification Kit The intent of this study was to analyze the ratio of donor versus recipient cells in the post-transplant peripheral blood, spleen, lung and kidney specimens. Specimens were taken from the traffic accident male victim who had been engrafted from bone marrow female donor. Blood and spleen specimens displayed female donor DNA profile. Kidney specimen showed male recipient DNA profile. Interestingly, lung tissue showed mixed profiles. The findings of this study indicate that the forensic STR analysis using fluorescence labeling PCR combined with capillary electrophoresis is quick and reliable enough to assess the ratio of donor versus recipient cells and to monitor the mixed chimeric patterns.

  • 계면활성제로 sodium dodecylsulfate(SDS)를 이용한 micellar electrokinetic capillary chromatography (MECC) 방법을 이용하여 유기 폭약 성분을 신속하고 정확하게 분석할 수 있는 방법을 연구하였다. 완충요액으로는 2.5mM borate와 25mM SDS(pH 8.5)를 사용하였고, 완충용액에 1M urea와 10% 유기 용매(acetonitrile, methanol 및 ethanol)를 첨가한 결과 분리능이 향상되는 현상을 관찰할 수 있다. 15종의 폭약 혹은 그 구성 성분을 MECC 방법으로 분리한 결과 RDX/TNB 및 DNN/DEP를 제외한 성분을 분리할 수 있었고, 검출한계는 1~4ppm으로 나타났다.

Evaluation of DNA Extraction Methods from Low Copy Number (LCN) DNA Samples for Forensic DNA Typing

  • DNA isolation for PCR-based short tandem repeat (STR) analysis is essential to recover high yields of amplifiable DNA from low copy number (LCN) DNA samples. There are different methods developed for DNA extraction from the small bloodstain and gloves, commonly found at crime scenes. In order to obtain STR profiles from LCN DNA samples, DNA extraction protocols, namely the automated $iPrep^{TM}$ $ChargeSwitch^{(R)}$ method, the automated $QIAcube^{TM}$ method, the automated $Maxwell^{(R)}$ 16 DNA $IQ^{TM}$ Resin method, and the manual $QIAamp^{(R)}$ DNA Micro Kit method, were evaluated. Extracted DNA was quantified by the $Quantifiler^{TM}$ Human DNA Quantification Kit and DNA profiled by $AmpFISTR^{(R)}$ $Identifiler^{(R)}$ Kit. Results were compared based on the amount of DNA obtained and the completeness of the STR profiles produced. The automated $iPrep^{TM}$ $ChargeSwitch^{(R)}$ and $QIAcube^{TM}$ methoas produced reproducible DNA of sufficient quantity and quality trom the dried blood spot. This two automated methods showed a quantity and quality comparable to those of the forensic manual standard protocols normally used in our laboratory. In our hands, the automated DNA extraction method is another obvious choice when the forensic case sample available is bloodstain. The findings of this study indicate that the manual simple modified $QIAamp^{(R)}$ DNA Micro Kit method is best method to recover high yields of amplifiable DNA from the numerous potential sources of LCN DNA samples.

해상 디지털 포렌식의 필요성에 대한 연구 (A Study on Maritime Digital Forensic with Necessity)

  • 3면이 바다로 덮여있는 해양국가인 우리나라에서 해난 사고는 다양한 원인과 결과를 보여준다. 매년 600-700건씩 발생하는 해난 사고는 소형선박인 어선이 대부분을 차지하고 있으며, 연안에서 발생하는 선박과 조업하는 어선과의 충돌, 유조선의 침몰등으로 인한 인명손실과 대규모의 환경오염에 대한 책임, 실종선박에 대한 수색 등은 반복되는 해난 사고의 유형이다. 21세기가 시작되면서 대형화된 선박과 선원들의 감소로 인하여 디지털 선박이 등장하게 되었고, 선박에 설치된 장비들에 대하여 디지털 데이터가 저장되고, 저장된 데이터 속에서 필요한 정보를 추출하고 분석하는 해상 디지털 포렌식이 필요하게 되었다. 해난 사고에 대한 원인 규명과 책임, 손해 배상 등을 다투기 위한 증거를 수집하는 방안으로 해상 디지털 포렌식을 제안하며 이를 이용하여 디지털 증거를 수집하는 방안을 제시한다.

Digital Forensics of Microsoft Office 2007-2013 Documents to Prevent Covert Communication

  • MS Office suit software is the most widely used electronic documents by a large number of users in the world, which has absolute predominance in office software market. MS Office 2007-2013 documents, which use new office open extensible markup language (OOXML) format, could be illegally used as cover mediums to transmit secret information by offenders, because they do not easily arouse others suspicion. This paper proposes nine forensic methods and an integrated forensic tool for OOXML format documents on the basis of researching the potential information hiding methods. The proposed forensic methods and tool cover three categories; document structure, document content, and document format. The aim is to prevent covert communication and provide security detection technology for electronic documents downloaded by users. The proposed methods can prevent the damage of secret information embedded by offenders. Extensive experiments based on real data set demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Detecting buried human remains using near-surface geophysical instruments

  • To improve the recovery rate of unlocated buried human remains in forensic investigations, there is scope to evaluate and develop techniques that are applicable to the Australian environment. I established controlled gravesites (comprising shallow buried kangaroos, pigs, and human cadavers) in South Australia, to allow the methodical testing of remote sensing equipment for the purpose of grave detection in forensic investigations. Eight-month-old pig graves are shown to provide more distinct identifying results using ground-penetrating radar when compared to four-year-old kangaroo graves. Two further aspects of this research are presented: information (obtained from a survey) relating to the police use of geophysical instruments for locating buried human remains, and the use of electrical resistivity for locating human remains buried in a coffin. The survey of Australian police jurisdictions, covering the period 1995-2000, showed that police searches for unlocated bodies have not successfully located human remains using any geophysical instruments (such as ground-penetrating radar, magnetometers, or electrical resistivity). Lower resistivity readings were found coincident with the 150-year-old single historical burial in a heavily excavated field, in a situation where its exact location was previously unknown.

  • 현재의 IP 위주의 역추적은 Proxy와 우회기법의 발달로 인하여 Real IP 역추적에 어려움이 있다. 또한 IP역추적 후에도 실제 Source IP인지 확인이 어렵다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 지능형 SQL Query에 대한 field, column, table 등의 요소값과 매칭되는 key값을 분석하고 여기에서 사용되는 Data값의 hit point를 분석하여 최초 사용자에 대한 Application Layer를 분석함으로써 IP 역추적에 대한 포렌식 증거로 삼는다. 본 연구는 포렌식과 DB보안 등 전자거래 발전에 기여할 것이다.
