Analytical investigation on lateral load responses of self-centering walls with distributed vertical dampers

  • Self-centering wall (SCW) is a resilient and sustainable structural system which incorporates unbonded posttensioning (PT) tendons to provide self-centering (SC) capacity along with supplementary dissipators to dissipate seismic energy. Hysteretic energy dissipators are usually placed at two sides of SCWs to facilitate ease of postearthquake examination and convenient replacement. To achieve a good prediction for the skeleton curve of the wall, this paper firstly developed an analytical investigation on lateral load responses of self-centering walls with distributed vertical dampers (VD-SCWs) using the concept of elastic theory. A simplified method for the calculation of limit state points is developed and validated by experimental results and can be used in the design of the system. Based on the analytical results, parametric analysis is conducted to investigate the influence of damper and tendon parameters on the performance of VD-SCWs. The results show that the proposed approach has a better prediction accuracy with less computational effects than the Perez method. As compared with previous experimental results, the proposed method achieves up to 60.1% additional accuracy at the effective linear limit (DLL) of SCWs. The base shear at point DLL is increased by 62.5% when the damper force is increased from 0kN to 80kN. The wall stiffness after point ELL is reduced by 69.5% when the tendon stiffness is reduced by 75.0%. The roof deformation at point LLP is reduced by 74.1% when the initial tendon stress is increased from $0.45f_{pu}$ to $0.65f_{pu}$.

Tribology Characteristics of Hexagonal Shape Surface Textured Reduction Gear in Electric Agricultural Vehicle

  • An experimental study was conducted on the wear and friction responses in sliding tests of a micro-textured surface on laser pattern (LP) steel as reduction gear material in electric guided vehicle. In this research, the friction characteristics of laser pattern steel under different micro texture density conditions were investigated. The friction tests were carried out at sliding speeds of 0.06 m/s to 0.34 m/s and at normal loads of 2 to 10 N. Photolithography method was used to create the dimples for surface texturing purpose. Four different specimens having different dimple densities of 10%, 12.5%, 15%, and 20% were observed respectively. In this research, friction conditions as shown in Stribeck curve were investigated. Furthermore, the microscopic surface was observed using scanning electron microscope. It was found that the dimple density had a significant role on the friction characteristics of laser pattern steel conditioned as reduction gear material in an agricultural vehicle. The duty number showed that the friction condition was hydrodynamic regime. The best performance was obtained from 12.5% dimple density with lowest friction coefficient achieved at 0.018771 under the velocity of 0.34 m/s and 10N load.

그리스 윤활유의 종류에 따른 SCM44의 마찰특성 (Friction Characteristic of SCM44 Steel using Grease Lubricants)

  • Friction mechanisms is a very important role in the industrial machinery. However, many experiments have been conducted to reduce the loss of energy resources and parts used due to friction because the friction force adversely affects parts, efficiency, noise, and the like of the power unit. Therefore, in this study, the friction coefficient according to the characteristics of the lubricant was measured to find out which Grease Lubricant maintains the low friction coefficient without being most affected by external conditions. A total of five grease lubricants were tested in this study: GHP CAL 301, GHP EP 2, GHP KG 10, GHP HPG 2, and GHP HTG 2. And the friction coefficient was conducted by changing the load conditions (2, 4, 6, 8, 10N) and rotational speed (24, 48, 67, 86, 105, 124, 143, 162vrpm) using a pin-on-disk wear test system. Also, duty number were calculated. As a result, it was confirmed that in all grease lubricants, the speed did not significantly affect the friction coefficient, and it was confirmed that in all lubricants, the size of the friction coefficient decreased as the load increased from a small load to a large load. In addition, it was determined from the experimental results that GHP EP 2 is the most suitable as a grease lubricant and GHP CAL 301 is not the most suitable.

시뮬레이션을 통한 교차로 충돌 속도 추정 (The Estimation of Collision Speed at the Intersection using Simulation)

  • 수식적 해법을 이용하여 교차로 교통사고 충돌 속도를 산정을 위해서는 충돌 전 차량 진입각 및 충돌 후 차량 이탈각 추정은 비교적 쉽지만, 충돌 후 차량의 감속을 분석하기는 매우 어렵다. 충돌 지점부터 최종 위치까지 이동하는 과정에서 노면 흔적이 발생하지 않으면, 충돌 후 차량의 감속을 분석하기 어렵다. 차량의 주행 특성에 따른 관성력과 충돌 부위 및 충돌 속도에 따른 편심력 등의 작용으로 충돌 후 차량 운동 궤적은 불규칙한 곡선 궤적을 보인다. 그러므로, 정확한 충돌 속도 분석을 위해서는 충돌 후 적정한 이탈각을 설정하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션(PC-Crash)을 이용한 모의 충돌 실험 자료에 근거하여 충돌 후 적정한 차량 이탈각과 충돌 속도와의 상관관계를 분석하여 회귀 분석 모형을 제안하고, 교차로 충돌사고에 차량 이탈각만을 적용한 충돌 속도 산출 방법을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 회귀 분석 모형에서 결정 계수는 0.864이므로 제시한 회귀 분석 모형이 매우 적합하다는 것을 알 수 있다.

산소 후열처리가 Ga2O3/4H-SiC 이종접합 다이오드의 온도에 따른 전기적 특성에 미치는 영향 분석 (Influence of Oxygen Annealing on Temperature Dependent Electrical Characteristics of Ga2O3/4H-SiC Heterojunction Diodes)

  • We analyzed the influence of post-annealing on Ga2O3/n-type 4H-SiC heterojunction diode. Gallium oxide (Ga2O3) thin films were deposited by radio frequency (RF) sputtering. Post-deposition annealing at 950℃ in an Oxygen atmosphere was performed. The material properties of Ga2O3 and the electrical properties of the diodes were investigated. Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), X-Ray Diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) images show a significant increase in the roughness and crystallinity of the O2-annealed films. After Oxygen annealing X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) shows that the atomic ratio of oxygen increases which is related to a decrease in oxygen vacancy within the Ga2O3 film. The O2-annealed diodes exhibited higher on-current and lower leakage current. Moreover, the ideality factor, barrier height, and thermal activation energy were derived from the current-voltage curve by increasing the temperature from 298 - 434K.

Experimental study on the influence of Reynolds number and roll angle on train aerodynamics

  • When the rolling stocks run on the curve, the external rail has to be lifted to a certain level to balance the centrifugal force acting on the train body. Under such a situation, passengers may feel uncomfortable, and the slanted vehicle has the potential overturning risks at high speed. This paper conducted a wind tunnel test in an annular wind tunnel with φ=3.2 m based on a 1/20th scaled high-speed train (HST) model. The sensitivity of Reynolds effects ranging from Re = 0.37×106 to Re = 1.45×106 was tested based on the incoming wind from U=30 m/s to U=113 m/s. The wind speed covers the range from incompressible to compressible. The impact of roll angle ranging from γ=0° to γ=4° on train aerodynamics was tested. In addition, the boundary layer development was also analyzed under different wind speeds. The results indicate that drag and lift aerodynamic coefficients gradually stabilized and converged over U=70 m/s, which could be regeared as the self-similarity region. Similarly, the thickness of the boundary layer on the floor gradually decreased with the wind speed increase, and little changed over U=80 m/s. The rolling moment of the head and tail cars increased with the roll angle from γ=0° to γ=4°. However, the potential overturning risks of the head car are higher than the tail car with the increase of the roll angle. This study is significant in providing a reference for the overturning assessment of HST.

초전도 선재용 완충층의 결정성장 연구 (Epitaxial growth of buffer layers for superconducting coated conductors)

  • All three buffer layers of $Y_2O_3$, YSZ, and $CeO_2$ have been deposited on the biaxially textured metal substrates using rf-sputtering method, The first 50-70nm thick $Y_2O_3$ films were grown epitaxially on biaxially textured metal substrates as a seed layer and followed by the diffusion barrier ${\sim}100nm$ thick YSZ and subsequent capping layer ${\sim}200nm$ thick $CeO_2$ deposited epitaxially on top of $Y_2O_3$ seed layer. The epitaxial orientation of all three layers were all (100) grown with rocking curve Full Width at Half Maximum(FWHM) of $4-5^{\circ}$ and in plane phi-scan FWHM of $6-8^{\circ}$ using X -ray diffraction analysis. The NiO phases formed during the $Y_2O_3$ seed layer deposition seem to degrade the crystallinity and roughen the surface morphology of the following layer observed by AFM(Atomic Force Microscopy). The buffered tapes were used as substrates for long length YBCO coated conductors with high critical current density $J_c$. The five multi-turn of metal tapes was employed to increase the thickness of films and production rate to compensate the low growth rate of rf-sputtering method.

  • When high carbon steel is heated in an appropriate austenizing temperature range and subjected to austempering, the size and shape of lamellar structure can be controlled. The high carbon steel sheet having the pearlite structure has excellent elastic characteristics because it has strong restoring force when properly rolled, and is applied in a process known as patenting-process using lead bath. In the case of isothermal treatment using lead-medium, it is possible to quickly reach a uniform temperature due to high heat transfer characteristics, but it is difficult to replace it with process technology that requires treatment to remove harmfulness lead. In this study, we intend to develop fluidization technology using garnet powder to replace the lead medium. After heating the high-carbon steel, the cooling rate was changed by compressed air to the vicinity of the nose of the continuous cooling curve, and then maintained for 90 s and then exposed to room temperature. The microstructure of the treated specimens were analyzed and compared with the existing products treated with lead bath. The higher the flow rate of compressed air, the faster the cooling rate to the pearlite transformation temperature, so lamellar spacing decreases and the hardness tends to increase.

2차 탄성해석을 이용한 강뼈대구조의 초기결함 좌굴설계 (Stability Design of Steel Frames considering Initial Imperfection based on Second-Order Elastic Analysis)

  • 일반적으로, 보-기둥 부재로 구성된 강뼈대구조물의 설계는 개별부재의 유효좌굴길이를 고려하여 설계기준에서 제시한 안정성 평가식을 적용하고 있다. 그러나 이 방법은 구조물에서 상대적으로 작은 압축력이 적용되는 부재에서는 유효좌굴길이가 커지는 문제가 발생하게 된다. 이러한 문제를 극복하고자 본 연구에서는 대상 구조물의 초기결함(initial imperfection)을 고려한 2차 탄성해석법을 제시한다. 이 방법은 탄성좌굴 고유치해석으로 산정된 좌굴모드 및 좌굴고유치, 개별부재의 축력을 이용하여, 가장 작은 무차원 세장비를 가진 부재를 선정하고, 그 부재에 대하여 기하적, 재료적인 효과가 고려된 설계기준의 기준강도곡선으로부터 좌굴모드에 대한 증폭량을 산정한다. 이렇게 결정된 증폭량을 대상 구조물의 좌굴모드에 증폭시켜 2차 탄성해석을 수행하고, 개별부재의 안정성을 평가한다. 본 방법의 타당성을 확인하기 위하여, 8층 및 4층으로 이루어진 평면 강뼈대구조물에 적용시키고, 설계기준에서 제시하는 안정성 평가법과 비교한다.

A Multicenter Pilot Study of Biliary Atresia Screening Using Digital Stool Color Imaging

  • Purpose: The presence of alcoholic stool in biliary atresia (BA) patients is the basis of a stool color card (SCC), a screening tool that has led to more patients receiving Kasai portoenterostomy earlier. This study aimed to evaluate the color image processing of stool images captured using smartphones. We propose that measuring digital color parameters is a more objective method for identifying BA stools and may improve the sensitivity of BA screening. Methods: A prospective study was conducted in five hospitals in Thailand between October 1, 2020, and December 31, 2021. Stools from infants presenting with jaundice, acholic stool, or dark-colored urine were photographed. Digital image color analysis was performed, and software was developed based on the color on the original SCC. Sensitivity and specificity for predicting BA stools were compared between the SCC and the software. Results: Of 33 infants eligible for data collection, 19 were diagnosed with BA. Saturation and blue were two potential digital color parameters used to differentiate BA stools. The receiver operating characteristic curve was used to determine the optimum cutoff point of both values, and when saturation ≤56 or blue ≥61 was set as a threshold for detecting BA stool, high accuracy was achieved at 81.8% and 78.8%, respectively. Conclusion: Digital image processing is a promising technology. With appropriate cutoff values of saturation in hue, saturation, value and blue in red, green, blue color models, BA stools can be identified, and equivocal-colored stools of non-BA patients can be differentiated with acceptable accuracy in infants presenting with jaundice.
